Ive lived in, and traveled Asia for most of my adult life. Ive eaten at local dives and Five-Star restaurants in China, Japan, Korea and Hong Kong. Coming back to the States has been bittersweet. Its good to be home, but I miss the food. Ive looked for authenticity in each of the places Ive tried, only to be disappointed. But, I found that Fantasy Chinese Cuisine, here in Norman to be among the most authentic and tasty Chinese restaurants outside of China and the China Towns around the world. Im fast becoming a "regular" and am trying out their menu items 2-3 at a time. There are SO many good ones, and when applicable, I usually ask for "traditional style," but even the tried and true items that Americans tend to like are great! (Anything on the lunch menu). The appetizers are good...I recommend the potstickers and the green onion pancake (the potstickers sauce goes great with both, although I tend to like the potstickers without any sauce, as per my usual habit). My favorite main dishes are the Fish Fillet in Spicy Oil (which is actually a soup), the Ginger Green Onion Beef (loads of fresh sliced ginger, which can be strong...so you may want to ask for adjustments, although I love it the way it is). Also, the Black Pepper Beef and the Beef Noodle Soup are very good! (The noodles are very nice, like a thin odon noodle. Nothing instant here! Their wonton soup, cup or bowl has generous portions of handmade (and well stuffed) wontons! (I usually dont use the noodle crackers that come with it, and spice it up a bit with pepper...ah so good! Still working through the menu!

TL:DR - I would sincerely suggest not eating at this place. The food is not authentic and tastes as if its pre-frozen. They couldnt even get the egg rolls right. Explanation: While this restaurant has a nice atmosphere with pleasant & cordial serving staff, the food tastes like the Asian equivalent of Schwans frozen food. My visit was during lunch and I ordered from the lunch menu. The egg drop soup and the pot stickers were good. However, me and my boyfriends entrées lacked luster, to say the least. My orange chicken was hard and the sauce clearly had too much corn starch added, as it was syrup-y like BBQ sauce with fake orange flavoring. My bfs Hawaiian chicken was mushy and the pineapple that came with it was clearly out of a can. And to top it off, the egg rolls had a nasty filling. It was as if the meat texture was chalky and similar to canned tuna with very little cabbage or anything else natural. In my opinion save your money for a more deserving Chinese cuisine.

I decided to try it since they were closer to home and new. Dont waste your time or your money. Let me start by saying the Restaraunt looks nice inside, but the prices are very high. Beef LoMein was $2.00 more than China Wonder and tasted awful. Also tried Orange Chicken, General Tsos Chicken and Sesame Chicken. My family liked the Sesame Chicken, but the other 2 werent very good. Also tried their egg rolls. They were the worst ones Ive ever had and very expensive as they were 2 for $3.50. Also their rice containers were the smallest ones Ive ever seen and the rice was hard. I would pass up eating at Fantasy Chinese Cusuine in Norman on 12th St. China Wonder beats them hands down!!!!

Wait staff was attentive and informative. We chose 2 entrees. One was shredded pork with garlic sauce which was tasty and just the right amount of spice. The waiter suggested the black pepper beef for the other entree. OMG. It was so good and may be my new favorite Chinese dish. There are many traditional dishes on the menu as well. Big portions for dine in. Not sure about takeaway. Highly recommend. Reasonably priced considering the quality.

Wasnt quite sure what to expect with a new experience. Overall we were impressed! Large portions served, great service & plenty of drink refills! She had orange chicken & I had shrimp w/fried rice. We took home leftovers! It has a "hole in the wall" feeling but good food quality smashed our superstitions about those hole in the wall Chinese locations with low quality food. We averaged $15/person with appetizer & drink. Will visit again!

This place is totally awesome. The staff is professional and the service is great. My first time eating here, just being new to town, and I was virtually impressed with the rich flavor of the food and the amount of food you get for the money. Lets just say, I needed a togo box. Its great this place has a license for beer and wine. Its refreshing to have a glass of plum wine with your meal. Amazing place. I highly recommend it

Finally, real authentic Chinese food instead of deep fried buffet dreck. Come here to eat if you want to try real Chinese food. Be sure to ask if there are any off-menu dishes on development, these are some of the best Ive had here, like the 麻辣 (numbing spicy) cold noodles. They thoughtfully mark the menu with stars next to authentic dishes. They have "American" Chinese as well if youre needing some coconut chicken

Fast service. Got my food to go. General tso chicken and orange chicken....it didnt taste fresh. The Orange sauce on The chicken didnt really have much flavor. The rice was just okay. The eggrolls tasted like something from the freezer. I normally go to China Wonder and just wanted something to compare...china wonder is way better and half the price!

Really great and authentic Chinese food. The dishes can be hit-or-miss I recommend you either ask what is good and they will tell you or you look for something that has the Star by it on the menu. There always seems to be a lot of Asian people dining there so it must be pretty consistent.

I am originally from China and so excited to find a real Chinese restaurant in Norman! I dun want to compare to other fake Chinese restaurants because they are not in the same level! To be honest, it might be average level in big cities, since it is in Norman, i give 5 stars

Called in for a to go order. They were very friendly on the phone and at pick up. Food was ready on time. Serving size was average and taste was good. We ordered the shrimp lo mein and the honey walnut shrimp and the pork egg rolls. Wasnt fond of the pork egg rolls.

Chinese food here is great. Large portions, very tasty, relative quick, staff is friendly, and it is not really pricey. My wife and I particularly enjoy the Ginger Onion Beef and the Kung Pao Chicken. The egg drop soup with seaweed and the Bok Choy are great too.

Horrible food. I ordered Sweet & Sour Chicken. What I got was a plate piled with fried chicken, some Sweet & Sour sauce and rice. No vegetables, no pineapple, no tomatoes, no onions, nothing!! Id give it ZERO stars if I could. WORST CHINESE FOOD EVER!!!

Great staff and great food! Dont judge a book by the cover with this one. Honey walnut chicken and beef with flat noodles were gourmet! Very attentive staff and great food this new place is a winner!

The fried rice and pork with green pepper were a little grease without a particular flavor. The taste reminds me a fast food Chinese chain. In general ,average flavor and nice service.
