THIS is pizza. My wife and I read about this place, and we were skeptical, because Columbus pizza is generally awful. We went, and the place just felt right. We got into the car, and the pizza smelled right. And when we tasted it, we both looked up at the same time and said, "We found real pizza!" I grew up on the East Coast, near Philadelphia, where theres good pizza everywhere. I lived in Chicago for 10 years and grew to love deep dish pizza. Brooklyn Pizza is the real deal. Its in a strip mall near Powell, and it has by far the best pizza in the Columbus area. No one else is close. They get the dough right (perfect), and the sauce is excellent. I love Columbus, but I have to say: Columbus natives, THIS is what pizza is supposed to taste like. It would be above-average anywhere on the East Coast, but in Columbus its like a little miracle. Only two quibbles: with oversize everything in Columbus, why are the pizzas so small? And why so expensive? (This is not about Brooklyn Pizza--everywhere in Columbus, whats called a large would be a medium back East. And all pizza seems a little high.) In any case, Brooklyn Pizza is right in the middle of Columbus-area prices, but for taste, its a 50 on a scale of 1 to 10. Seriously--its almost not even a question of other places in Columbus being bad, and Brooklyn Pizza is good. Its that other places in Columbus serve something they call pizza (some edible, some not), while Brooklyn Pizza serves PIZZA.

Ive been looking for a great NY style pizza place in central Ohio for the last 10 years - and while Brooklyn Pizza gives it a decent shot, I still was left wanting. The atmosphere is great, Tony seems to make a great effort to know the names and the orders of his regular customers, truly a "family" place. It was constantly busy with customers picking up carryout orders, we tried calling a couple times only to give up and place the order in person since the phone was always busy. Now down to the pizza, first off the sauce is the highlight of the pizza - ask for extra sauce! The crust has a good char to it, but mine was a little too charred with just not enough flavor to it - maybe it needs salt? The cheese was somewhat lacking in quantity as well, I had whole slices that were only covered about 10% with cheese. Good pizza overall though, just not what my wife and I have been searching for. I would also say that for the amount of cheese on the pie, a medium should be less than $10.

Sometimes the pizza is overdone. I am a NJ native, and have ordered pizza about a dozen times from this place. I only wish the pizza was consistent. There have been times when it is the perfect pizza, and other nights when it is way overcooked, to the point that the crust is crunchy.. What NY pizza has crunchy crust!!?? At the cost of $14 for a large, Im not sure that I want to take the risk anymore. And forget the sicilian pizza - it isnt sicilian at all, just greasy deep dish pizza that is crunchy. Sicilian pizza shouldnt have so much vegetable oil in it, or be crunchy, people, it should taste like homemade bread out of the oven!!! Come on!. Edit - Delete

Without a doubt the BEST pizza in Central Ohio. We moved here 8-years ago and it wasnt until Brooklyn Pizza opened that a person could find a decent slice of pizza in central OH. You can order a whole pizza or get a couple of slices and sit down for a quick lunch or snack. The owner is always there, Anthony, and the staff is friendly. Try the cannoli or tiramisu. The Subs are good and so are the stromboli and calzone. A must stop when in Powell OH or a great destination thats worth the trip for a slice. If you are looking for fantastic NY style pizza this is the place -- Fast, Friendly, and GREAT food.

I am extremely critical when it comes to pizza. I moved here from ny and ohio pizza is terrible imo. How some of the cracker crust places stay in business is beyond me. I am not going to tell you that brooklyn pizza would be a great pizza if it was in ny city, but grading on the curve that is columbus, it gets an A+ from. I drive 20-25 minutes to get it without hesitation. Its worth the drive it you like ny style pizza.

This is seriously the best pizza place in the entire Columbus area. Im in exile here from NYC/New Jersey area and this pizza is just like at home. Dont come here if you want that terrible Columbus style pizza with no crust and cut in to little squares. This is real pizza in pie slices the way it is supposed to be. I cant recommend this place enough if you want real great NY style pizza!

So glad that there is an authentic NY pizza shop locally. Its not a place that you could easily notice when driving by but worth hunting it down. Dont expect to eat in--there is very limited space due to the size of the kitchen & only a few spots outside. The cheese slices are 2 bucks each and the salad sizes are great. And it was delicious. One of my new favorite places.

We like their New York syle pizza but have a devil of a time getting through on their phone line. Unfortunately, it often has a persistent busy signal. After five or six attempts, we have to call one of our old favorites, like Masseys (where delivery is also an option). Glad to see that Brooklyn is so successful in Powell and hope they can add some more phone lines.

I grew up on Long Island, and in over 20 years living in the Midwest, have not been to a NY pizza place that is as authentic and good as this. If you want a cheap, bundle coupon deal, then a major chain may beat it in price, but its not overpriced either. None come close in quality and authenticity as this mom and pop joint.

This a good pizza place. I dont agree with a lot of the reviews when they say that its the best pizza place around, but if youre from NY and love the pizza its the only NY style pizza nearby except for the flying pizza on Bethel and national chains that specialize in other style pizzas.

I absolutely love Brooklyn Pizza. It is the ONLY place in Powell or the surrounding areas to get good, authentic NY style pizza. Its so much better than anything you could get at a big chain pizza restaurant. The staff is awesome and super friendly too. Its a must!

I moved here from the East Coast 7 years ago. I have found Ohio has great people and generally bad pizza....untill I found Brooklyn Pizza. If you are anywhere near Powell....or not (I live in Cincinnati) go to Brooklyn Pizza ...NOW!

Its hard to find good NY style pizza in Columbus so I was happy to hear about Brooklyn Pizza of Powell. Its mostly carry out with only two dining tables. The pies are fantastic and I would recommend to anyone that enjoys NY style.
