My family ate at Blu Mangrove Grill on the 4th of July, 2017 before the firework show. This is our first time here with this ownership. We ate here previously under previous ownership. Our waitress was great, showed a lot of patience under the circumstance, and deserved my thanks. So the service saved this restaurant from a worse rating. My house red wine was fine. Our calamari appetizer was good in my opinion, but the dipping sauce was average at best. The other appetizer of Rockefeller oyster was barely warm when they were served, and not hot like I preferred. My daughters sushi roll was too big to eat the piece whole, and not of high quality. The quality of the rice was not up to par for sushi. My wifes entree of clam linguine scored 4 on a scale of 10. Tomato sauce was generic and not homemade. She was very disappointed. Our party others entry was the ribeye steak. It was undercooked and had to be returned. It came back out overcooked. I ended up eating the steak. I would give the steak a generous 7 on a 10 scale. My own entree was the Louisiana Boil Crawfish. I ate boiled crawfish from California, through Texas, the Southern states, on to Florida. This was by far the worst boiled crawfish which I have ever eaten. I returned it since the crawfish were boiled in straight water without any spice. They were bland and not edible. Even those ridiculous Chinese buffet crawfish taste better. My mothers entree of broiled Snapper was good. Not everything was bad. Overall, this is an expensive restaurant. They had a two man band for live music on the holiday Tuesday. Too expensive for the foods to be this low quality. I would not return to this restaurant, sad to say since it is very close to the house.

Not a very good experience at all. Seated right away. Waiter did not even acknowledge us for 20min and that was after I asked the hostess if we had a waiter. When he came to our table, he asked if we had a waiter and when we told him no, he said well I guess I will be your waiter. Others came in after us had prompt service. Asked our waiter 3 different times for a coke and he never brought one. Finally asked the boy pouring everyones water and he brought a coke out right away. The boy pouring water took care of us better than the waiter. Asked our waiter if everyone receives bread and he said no, only if we request it. This was our first time here, how would we know. Asked for the check from our waiter. Waited 15 min and he never returned. Got up and started walking out. Our waiter was saying good bye to us and didnt even remember that he never brought us our check. Had to tell him if he didnt give us our check right now that we were leaving. Food was ok. First time going and I will never return. I should of listened to the bad reviews on here and went elsewhere. Blu Mangrove can thank our waiter, Ethan, for ruining our first time visit and never returning.

Dont waste your money on this food. There are far better restaurants with $20+ plates. I had a strip steak, bone in, which isnt described on the menu as bone in. The steak arrives about 3/4 inch thick at the bone and tapered down to a 1/4 inch at the edge. I ordered it medium rare and of course with a horrible non quality butchering the steak ended up medium at the bone and well done at the edge. As another stated, we made reservations and still had to wait over a half hour for a table. Again, as mentioned, service was poor and, funny, I had the same experience with the sweetener. Crab cakes were bland, plopped on a pile of grits and asparagus was all over the board as far as how done it was cooked and the freshness was bad. Grouper was served cold. Im a big fan of Ruths Chris and Burns Steak House and if theyre a 10 on a scale of 1 to 10, Blu Mangrove is a 1 If youre going to drop some moderately serious money for dinner, dont do it here. The restaurant looks great and has a nice outdoor area, but thats about it. Youd be better off at Bone Fish Grill. Steer Clear.

Last night we visited the Blu Mangrove Grill, what a beautiful spot to sit outside and eat . Our meals where not the best , 1 of us had the fish and chips , (the batter was very greasy ) 1 of us had the shrimp skewer and lobster tail, ( shrimp over cooked and not warm , lobster overcooked ) the last 2 had the "special" 2 lobster tails with potato salad and slaw, when their meal came the waitress had mixed up the orders and brought lobster tail with shrimp, ours friends wanted the 2 tails , so the waitress took the shrimp skewer back to the kitchen and said 2 more tails would be out shortly , My husband and I had both finished our meals by the time they finally came ( the lobster tails where very small , and very chewy , over cooked, ). great spot , over priced lobster, service 2 out of 5 we were excited to go for the lobster tails, but left very disappointed

We keep our boat at the Riviera Dunes Marina, the home of Blu Mangrove Grill. We visit the area six days per month and, of course, have dined in most of the waterway (waterside view) restaurants from Tampa Bay/St Petersburg to Sarasota/Bradenton, looking for great food, reasonable price and a marine environment dining experience. Without a question, Blu Mangrove stands out among its competitors for its consistency of service, solid menu (supplemented by an excellent chief) , outstanding food and the best prices. Would highly recommend the restaurant. You will not find another restaurant in this area where you can enjoy both a contemporary ambiance and TWO Florida lobsters for a total of $24.00 on a special. It is under new ownership and the owners are hands-on owners and very customer-oriented.

We decided to come here for our anniversary dinner. The server was nice but the service itself was terrible. My fiance ordered a Margarita and it was so strong she couldnt even drink it. I ordered a strawberry daiquiri and I dont think it had any alcohol in it whatsoever. I had the Linguine Clams with white wine butter Garlic sauce. No where in the description did it mention that it was spicy. It was literally inedible. My mouth was on fire and my lips were tingly. My fiance had the lobster linguine and hers was definitely lacking in lobster and she had to spit out multiple pieces of artichoke because they were inedible as well. Definitely not how I wanted to spend my aniversary.... Waste of time and money! The only reason this got one star was because of the tempura fries!

Nice restaurant but clueless manager. On sunday March 29th went for brunch. Staff young with no direction . Everyone eating except our table of 8. After exactly one hour asked for manger to see if he could help us. Came out of office said sorry and disappeared. Food came shortly and 2 orders sent back eggs burnt with no yolk. Told waiter to let manager know and he never came out of office. the mangers job is to ensure the staff do their job this Bozzo hasnt a clue he must be a relative. A sign of a good restaurant is when they bring your drink where are the hands. Do they put their hands on the top of your glass 99% of them do - no training. Music too loud and i am ok with that except i dont feel like dancing at 11am. SEE YA. .
