On Sunday, March 2nd I went to Happy Greek for a late lunch. Upon entering, I was seated by the bartender - the time was 2:00 p.m. At 2:15 p.m., I was still waiting for the waitstaff to acknowledge me and ask me if I would like a beverage. At 2:20 p.m. 2 waiters stood 5 feet from my table and discussed helping each other. Apparently, they have not been trained in teamwork. At 2:22 p.m., the waiter finally took my order which included a glass of iced tea. At 2:30 p.m., still waiting for my iced tea, I decided to walk out. A party of 3 arrived after me - probably around 2:24 p.m. and were served drinks even though I had now be waiting since 2:00 p.m. A party of 5 was sitting nearby and when they left, the floor around the table was dirty. Instead of receiving my iced tea, the waiter assigned to my table apparently felt it was more important to sweep up the dirt which made me feel, well, less important than dirt. Unfortunately, not being served in a timely manner at the Happy Greek has happened to me previously. I thought I would give the Happy Greek another chance. I think the food is excellent and I have introduced out-of-town guests, family and co-workers to the Happy Greek and they enjoyed it very much. Perhaps people who decide to dine alone should avoid Happy Greek - apparently solo patrons are not given the same respect as parties greater than one. After leaving the Happy Greek, I walked to North Star Cafe. The training of the staff and the overall superior management at North Star Cafe is apparent. Perhaps the Happy Greek should do what Starbucks recently did - close shop for a few hours for some serious customer service and teamwork training. The loss of one patron probably will not make much difference to the Happy Greeks bottom line; however, I will no longer patronize the Happy Greek where dirt is apparently more important than the customer.

I went for lunch during a weekday with a friend. We were the ONLY people in the place - around 11:45. The waitress almost immediately asked what we wanted to eat, so we asked for another minute to decide. We didnt see her again for at least 10 minutes. I wanted to try the combo plate of assorted dips that came with pita. In my mind, this would be enough to eat as a meal since it had 4 different dips and was $10. I asked the waitress if I could have a few slices of cucumber on the side so I didnt have to eat 10 pieces of pita. She told me they could do this but it was going to cost $3.50 extra. $3.50 FOR SOME CUCUMBER! I was astonished, but I was desperate for them and figured I could take home leftovers. Mistake. After another 20 minutes of waiting while still being the 2 of 4 people in the restaurant, our food finally comes. She puts down the plate of dips and a plate with a whole cucumber sliced up... The dips were served on a small salad plate, and there were approximately 2 spoonfuls of each. I could finish the whole plate with one piece of pita. To top it off, there were 4 large pieces of cucumber on the plate already. This would have been the perfect amount for me had I known it came with them in the first place. She didnt bring the pita out with my meal, but said shed bring it right over. Another 5-10 minutes passed until it came. Im upset because I love Mediterranean food and The Happy Greek was the closest spot to me. The food tasted good, but the service was just terrible. I ended up paying $14 for a couple spoonfuls of hummus, feta spread and a whole cucumber. I wont be going back to this restaurant. There are far too many better restaurants in the Short North that are more affordable and reliable.

Really enjoyed this restaurant. It was Game Day, and we slid in to the place while shopping and chose to sit on the back patio. Nicely terraced and plenty of umbrellas. The interior was very neat, clean and airy. We had the feta fries (not to be missed) drizzled in lemon sauce, Chicken Slouvaki Pita (Excellent), Lamb Kabob (I didnt try it, but it was rumored to be very, very good and there was mysteriously none left). The grilled vegetables were terrific, garden salad was fresh and light, pita was lightly crisp on the outside and chewy on the inside, and their baked potato was a mystery: I dont know what they did to it, but everyone loved it and wished they had ordered it. The staff was prompt, attentive and very friendly. In fact, they gave us ideas of where to park and suggested that we take the bus to the stadium. We are really glad we had lunch there. They were a restaurant that made us feel good about going there...

A lot of flavors. I felt like their menu was well curated. It was one of the few times I had to struggle with what to order because so much sounded good. In addition to the regular great greek entrees, they had good lebanese foods as well. This was my first time having greek coffee, it is similar to turkish coffee but a bit less sweet. The lamb shank I had was some of the most tender meat Ive ordered at a restaurant. Well worth checking out. Their pita is award-winning and you can taste it.

Food is average, terrible service, over priced. Update: My girlfriend left a similar negative review on Yelp and the restaurant has emailed her saying they are going to sue us for slander because quote "that could never happen at our restaurant". Instead of apologizing for the poor experience. I will let everyone i know not to ever dine at this establishment, dont waste your time here, Yannis or the mad greek is the way to go.

I used to really like the Happy Greek. However, in recent visits, service has declined, food quality has become inconsistent (really good some days and really poor other days), and they are really put off by the slightest special request (like no olives or dressing on side). I am tired of playing Russian roulette and hoping I will get lucky with a good night. I will start hitting up my other Greek fav restaurants instead.

Great service and delicious food! We had the grouper fish with scallops and shrimp with a light sauce and veggies, a crabcake Greek salad, and a gyro meal... all were wonderful. (Only change was my personal preference of tazhiki (sp?) sauce on the gyro.) Will definitely return here. We also like the patio seating, very relaxing.

Stopped by at lunchtime - my first time visit! The patio atmosphere was wonderful, the food and service was great - and when I left without one of my packages (I accidentally left it on the table) - the waiter ran 2 blocks to hand it back to me. Unbelievable customer service and I will rate this as high as possible!

Ive had worse but also much much better. The kitchen warmed the vegetarian grape leaves with a sauce, which took on a strange and unexpected turn. The falafel was ok, clearly had been reheated from frozen. They were accommodating and substituted olives for cheese when I told them I am vegan.

If I lived closer, Id be there once a month. The hummus was really good (is that a hint of cinnamon?) the Dolmades were GREAT and the gyro had plenty of meat. (dont you hate when people give you thin gyro?) Ditch your fast food and go with this "pretty quick" and WAY more flavorful option!
