If I had paid for this- vs someone buying it for me- I wouldve gotten a refund. Bbq was tender but had no discernable flavor. Seemed more like baked ribs drowned in barbecue sauce than actually barbecued. Ditto for the chicken- moist with zero flavor. Mac n cheese was bland and kind of oily. Greens were ehh, they were the one thing on the plate that seemed to have any seasoning. Catfish was golden brown- and flavorless. Hush puppies were dry inside and burnt outside. Barbecue sauce- so forgettable I cant even think of how to describe it without tasting the leftovers, and Im not doing that to my tongue again. Sweet? No spices, no acid, no smoke. All I can think is, this place must get its good ratings from people who havent had good (or even decent) bbq before, because theres just no way you could have and still give this five stars.

The fish use to taste great, I always ordered the whiting dinner w/fries and cole slaw, now theyve substituted the whiting fish with some other type fish, but, still call it whiting ! Anyone that has ever eaten whiting that you buy at ANY grocery store should know when u see what they are serving is NOT what u were raised on ! It taste like catfish, fishy fishy ! The son said its a better tasting fish and everybody loves it ! Well I didnt, thats why I returned it and will never eat fish from there again ! The bbq is boiled then put in the oven with sauce on it, mac n cheese is horrible, out of a can, so were the greens ! Where is the Soul food , the home cooking ? Try Pammies down the street, EVERYTHING is home made, nothing from a CAN !! BBQ BOSS is a scam, a discrace to the neighbor hood !!!!!

Excellent local take-out BBQ joint. The ribs are fall off the bone tender, slightly smokey, and sticky sweet. Try the potato salad too! The staff are wonderful and friendly and the wait isnt long for your food.

Came into barbecue and had a pretty good experience. Staff was courteous. They were giving out cupcakes when I came in. The food was good and I didnt have to wait long to get it.

The ribs and sauce are my favorite. get the mac and cheese while youre there and say hello to the friendly staff.
