Good looks can KILL!!!!! Since I live across the street I thought I would give this place a try. This place was nicely packed with people, it had a bit of an elegant feel so I went strait for the to go section where you can actually see them making your pizza. I told the cashier what I wanted and he pulled an old pizza from beneath counter with no gloves on. After he just scratch his head ( I guess he didnt think I saw that) and added more cheese, mushrooms, onions and pepperonis as requested, in which he dug his dirty hands in the fresh veggies again with no gloves on, he didnt even wash his hands ewwwwwww!!!!!!! I was so shocked that such a nice establishment would do that I pretended to take a phone call and got hell out of there!!!!!!!!!!!! I know he was waiting for me to pay huhhhhh if their reading this I left!!!!!!! I dont want to get SICK!!!!!!!

My favorite Italian in the city. My kids love their pizza. I do too but their other dishes are so good I dont usually get that. Their bolognese sauce is better than we had in Italy. (Eating in Italy this summer made us realize how blessed we are here to have such fine authentic Italian food in our city.) The clams in wine sauce...divine. Almost forgot to mention the salad and house dressing is a must. But when hubby and I are craving comfort food its their steak and cheese that takes us back to Boston. We searched for years without realizing they make them here, and they are the best in Charlotte. We get a large and split it and our eyes roll back in our heads as we are eating it! Plus, they are so nice, its like seeing old friends every time we go in.

First visit there; all four of our meals were outstanding! My wife had Veal Saltinbocca Ala Romana that was the perfect blend of savory and spice, my daughters Tortellini Alfredo was precisely as expected, her boyfriends Tortellini Gorgonzola was surprisingly light while still retaining the characteristic flavor, and my Pasta Arrabbiate was hotter than expected but with wonderful flavor. Our server (I think his name was Sam) was properly attentive, and exhibited a dry, understated sense of humor that added to our enjoyment. We WILL be back!

Although we consider Portofino a fine dining experience it was cut rather short today when the smell of Pine-Sol overwhelmed the dining room. It was so strong we asked to be moved to the patio. With the caliber of people who visit this establishment I would think they would be more careful with their cleaning products...after all people do associate their surroundings by sight, sound, smell and taste. Making the dining experience complete is inherent with the environment you create. All of the staff needs to be on the same page.

OMG! This place had some really good food! Everything we tried here was spot on. I had the meat Pizza, and I can honestly say that it was the best tasting Pizza I have ever had. We also had the cheese bread and it too was awesome. The service was great, friendly, and very inviting. The bathroom was the only place that was lacking just a little in the cleanliness Dept. Other than that, everything was great. Our waiter even entertained our kids from time to time.

Portofino is a great family owned, authentic Italian restaurant. Simply the best Italian food in Charlotte! Ive been going there for years and consider them the gold standard for Italian cuisine in this area. The bar and wait staff is friendly and sincere in their efforts to provide a great dining experience for patrons, as well. All around a great value for the price.

The food is always good. The portions are large and the prices are reasonable. One of the hardest things to accomplish in the restaurant industry is being consistant. I have never been disappointed with the quality of food severed. Portofinos atmosphere is simple and the service is friendly, but sometimes a little slow. I would recommend Portofinos

Portofino is SO GOOD! Ive had their pizza (in my top 5), stuffed shells, chicken parm, baked ziti, etc. Their house dressing is also very good. The atmosphere is nice and the service is excellent. Get there early if you can as the line can get pretty long. Def recommend for a casual dinner out or a no-risk date night!

The good reviews must be for their pizza, the appetizers was not good the food was Bland and really not authentic the grated cheese sits at the table in a shaker I couldnt believe that especially with the dishes that we ordered should have been offered fresh cheese, the sauce was horrible, I had high expectations

Underwhelmed, overpriced per quality of the food. The sauce on the ravioli tasted like Ragu tomato sauce, the ravioli was actually better without it. The "creamy" sauce on my Fettuccini was like water and tasteless. Service was great, waiter and hostess were very nice! Probably wont be going back.

Great Food for a fair price. Plates are big, and on weekends for lunch it still includes a very nice break and salad. Two people can easily manage to have a nice lunch with one dish but they do charge an extra ($5 I believe) if you dont other a second dish. It is great food and worth visiting.

The food here actually made my husband and I feel nauseous. We both had the chicken parm. The meat was tough and stringy, which I dont understand. I have never had tough chicken anywhere. The sauce was overly salted and the cheese tasteless. I would never return to this place.

Ordered pepperoni pizza, and my review is based solely on that. It is delicious, with the perfect balance of cheese, sauce, and crust. The cheese is delicious and the sauce and crust are really good also. Overall, a really good pizza.

Loved, loved, loved this place. Went with my family who were here for a visit. We are used to eating at the best places on Mulberry St in Little Italy NYC. Charlotte is really missing good Italian food, except for here - we loved it!

The service here was excellent! I tasted a friends pizza and it was quite tasty. However, my Chicken Cacciatore left much to be desired. Still, I would return to try something different. The ambiance is very welcoming.

Atmosphere was fine. Service was fine. Food was bland. The shrimp scampi was boiled dry shrimp on top of some angel hair and tomatoes. The marsala seemed too sweet. I hope the work on their dishes.

Good Italian food with great service. Quality local restaurant that we visit frequently. Comfortable place to take family from out of town, or just an easy dinner with our daughter.

Good neighborhood family italian restaurant. Reminds me of places that my family would go to in the north east when my Mom didnt want to cook italian at home. Not fancy, but tasty
