I have been to Serendipity a few times, and it has been OK...especially on nice days when you can eat outside. We just came back from a late lunch today, though, and I had to write a review. The food was fine, but expensive. $8 for a basic sandwich and standard ruffled chips and a pickle. The reason I am writing today is that we were literally in the middle of the waitstaff cleaning up. They were spraying cleaner around us, sweeping the floor, putting up chairs, etc. We were there at 2:30, it closes at 3. We had two sandwiches and one bowl of watery chili (more like a soup) for our two year old, a kids lemonade and 2 sodas and it was $29 before tip. Extremely overpriced for the amount and quality of food you get. I am being generous with my 3 stars since its been OK in the past. Sad that a downtown restaurant would do something like this when Cary is trying so hard to revitalize the area.

im not so impressed by this restaurant. ive been a few times and while their ruben is stellar, their other sandwiches are lacking. today i had a hummus sandwich with a layer of hummus so thin, i could hardly taste it. the service also leaves something to be desired. the servers seem very lackadaisical and inattentive. a little overpriced for what you get.

I live in Cary and am always looking for good places to eat. I thought this place would be good based on reviews. It was not. I had the "famous" chicken salad sandwich. I think its famous for how much salt is in it, it was all I could taste. Its also dry and unnaturally white. The fountain soda was mixed wrong and tasted watered down. I wont be back.

I have been going to Serendipity since 1984. It is just as good now as it was then. The Garden Pocket with Tahini and Mideastern Mystery are my favorites. One reviewer said they are not open for dinner. They are open for dinner with limited hours. I am actually ordering out tonight, which is a Friday and they are open until 8:30 PM tonight.

Sorry, but that was unacceptable. 12:45pm: Seated, waited 10+ mins for a server. No one came, I went inside to place a to-go order and the lady that seated me acted like she was pissed at me...I walked out and definitely wont be returning. Menu looks extremely boring anyway; its nearly 2017 guys, you might want to make a bit more of an effort.

Luckily before ordering our food, we noticed a large roach walking out of the kitchen. I informed a waitress, she stepped on it and kicked it out the side door. We informed the owner and left ASAP. I realize in a restaurant this can happen, I just dont want to see the bugs.

I was in town for an art conference at the Page-Walker and ate lunch at Serendipity three days in a row. The menu is varied and the food was excellent, I tried something different each day. If I ever find myself in downtown Cary again, Ill definitely eat at Serendipity!

Wonderful food and quick pleasant service. Just watch for the lunch crowd and plan to find a place to park on the street. If its on the specials, I recommend the grilled egg-salad sandwich (with cheese, bacon, lettuce & tomato)

My sandwich was good but not quite worth the price. The atmosphere is comfortable and the staff was capable and polite. If you want a quick bite and dont mind the cost, this is the place.

This is my favorite lunch spot. Favorites are the Club, the egg salad sandwich on sunflower bread (best egg salad ive ever had), and the BLT.
