So I have been a Cary resident for many years. My husband works for the Town of Cary and we live in a very nice Cary neighborhood although it is not Lochmere. This was our second and last visit we will ever make to Bocci! I heard it was great, great food, great service, etc. The first visit was fine, but we took our food to go. This time we took our 5 year old. We got her a kids meal and asked for a side of steamed broccoli for her. My husband ordered a chicken dish and asked to have the pasta replaced with loaded mashed potatoes. To our surprise, when our bill came we were charged $5.00 for a kids side of broccoli and $4.00 to substitute the pasta for loaded mashed potatoes!! REALLY?? Now, while we are not millionaires, we make a good living and DO look at bills when they come. When we asked the server about it, he said that is just the way it is and he is not sure why it is that way either. My husband then asked to speak with the owner/manager. We talked with a manager who needs some education in customer service and what sets good restaurants apart from ones that run out of business. He did state he would remove the $4.00 charge after stating that we would not be returning, but would only remove it if we gave the another chance. He said it was all out of his hands and that the owner makes the decisions on prices. He went on to state that they have regular patrons that are there often to infer that our business is not needed. That mentality is exactly what causes businesses to fail! Upon asking the manager where was the CREDIT for the pasta that was not eaten in order to charge $4.00 for the potatoes, we could not get a response. Essentially, it cost us over $11.00 for a kids meal. I am certain the Lochmere residents are the ones keeping Bocci in business, but it will only be a matter of time before a new restaurant comes along in the area. In my opinion, Chefs Palette (within 2 miles) is SO much better in every single aspect. The owner is phenomenal, everyone knows her, she is there for the patrons and this nonsense would have never occurred! If you are like me and read reviews, dont waste your money at Bocci. You get the same quality of food at the Macaroni Grill without all the up charging!

Place is really nice, was greeted nicely by hostess with a smile. The server never told us his name, when I asked what the specials were he did not know it was Wednesday and said that there are not any specials on Tuesdays, I told him it was Wed, he said, "I think there is 20% off wines" Guess he does not know what the date nor the specials are. My drink was constantly empty, I had to go to the hostess to ask for refills, and ask for bread so we could use the nice oil and vinegar setup that was on our table. She brought us both and the server was missing. I told her I think he went home. He showed up about 10 minutes later. The manager walked by and without stopping ask how I was doing, I had just enough time to respond and say ok. I gave the hostess a tip at the door and told her that she gave us great service. The manager seemed shocked and when I explained what happened he just said, "Oh, who was your server?" I explained I did not know his name. No apologies, no please come back, basically acted like he was shocked. Obviously the manager/owner, whatever he was is in a daze. Frankly, I dont think they care. Dont take your kids, you will be sitting in limbo. Not sure we will ever return. I get better service at Cis Cis pizza by far. At least there they pick up your plates and refill your drinks.

Other reviews will mention that this place is loud. It is. LOUD. Lots of hard surfaces, sound just echoes forever. We went on a Wednesday evening and it was crowded and loud. Our server was good and no complaints there except that she never did top off our water. My girl had the square pizza (Manas?) which had soggy crust, same as last time. Too much water in the sauce, perhaps? I had the Cannelloni, described as "Rolled Pasta filled with Ground Beef, Ricotta & Mozzarella with Fresh Basil in a Pink Sauce" Couldnt taste the ricotta or basil, the mozzarella was on the outside not the inside, and it was cold. COLD. They must make this stuff ahead of time and refrigerate it. It was not heated through, it was cold by the time it got to the table (the cheese has started to harden) and the sauce had no flavor. Worst of all, we both had upset stomachs from it, and thats after having only one bite! OK, I had two bites, but still. Or maybe we got sick off of the pizza (with mushrooms). The server was nice and took it off of the bill, but that doesnt make up for us getting ill. This was our second trip there and it will be our last. And the manager did not bother to come by, check on us, apologize or anything like that.

So anyone from Cary knows that waiting a while for a table even at mediocre places is common. We went to the new Bocce (near Lochmere) last week and since they dont take reservations we were told the wait would be 20 min. 70 minutes later I approached the hostess (who acted bothered when i asked her) and she sat us down. We then waited another 30 minutes for someone to ask us is we want a drink. Even service at the bar was lousy and drinks were VERY expensive ($9 for a glass of wine though they pour generously). prices were reasonable (not cheap) but at that these entree prices I would not expect paper napkins rolled around the silverware. So service aside (which was bad) the food was actually pretty good. I had scampi which was prepared well and my wife has eggplant that also was good. I will not rush back - due to the service- but would try it again as all places have bad nights . The waitress we finally got was very nice and pleasant, It appears they were just short handed and the hostess was useless. First impression was not great but overall a slightly above average Italian place.

I wanted to like this place because a co-worker recommended it,but it was awful from start to finish. Started with stale bread and I asked for a second bread in hopes that it was just bad batch but the second bread came out just as stale & cold.We got the Sicilian nachos which were edible but how could you go wrong with Nacho chips, ground sausage, and melted mozzarella (my 9 year old can make that dish). I ordered the Old Time Favorite Chicken Parmigiana and it was terrible. The sauce was awful, the chicken was dry and all the breading fell off. My better half ordered the Cannelloni and that too was equally bad. Sauce had no flavor and neither did the filling, we could not even taste the ricotta. Our 9 year old liked her pizza so at least one of us left full and happy. We got seated in a booth that had a big rip in it. The only plus was our sodas were free and the waiters were pretty nice. Never again! The best place for Italian to me is Biaggis in Cary...I will never stray again.
