Im a local here in Asheville. I was in a twilight zone this morning when I entered this, what should of been a familiar spot, old yet newly redone cafe. I was greeted by a lady in the back of the kitchen givin me the death stare.. Im used to being stared at for I am a lil sip of different.. Yet this was awkward. I finally broke her stare with my continuous smiling while staring directly back .. Eye to eye. All while waiting in line. My turn, I ask about the special.. No more special.. I go to my second choice thee amazingly awesome best in town biscuit and gravy.. I ask are they the same as they used to be.. He insists Yes Okee dokee, Im still excited. No matter how bad the service was in the good ole days at Thee Clingman Cafe.. The food ALWAYS pulled through making bad service a lil thing.. Lol So, I get my order and find out it isnt the the same.. Very sad day for what was once a true local Cafe. Unhappy Valentines Day

Clingman Cafe is reliably good, fun, and interesting. Their menu is all yummy and the coffee is great! I love their seating area with the local art displayed for sale and the many intriguing hand made pottery mugs artistically arranged all around the room. Theyve recently installed some really nice looking shelves for these items, which makes them stand out even more. I ordered the yogurt, granola, and fruit option and was blown away by its fabulous presentation! I was expecting the ubiquitous clear plastic cup full of yogurt, fruit, and granola but was presented with a bowl of hand-made granola and beautifully laid-out fresh fruit that had been sliced just so! The yogurt was served in a separate bowl on the side! Another of our party ordered Nutela muffin!

I really like this place and if I lived closer, Id be here all the time! Because of its location in the River Arts District you can easily get here from downtown or West Asheville, making It a great cafe to meet friends or business associates. Ive always found everyone to be cheerful and accommodating every time Ive been here. Im not a coffee person, but I do know they have a great selection of teas that you can get hot or cold. And their muffins are always fresh and delicious. I particularly like the strawberry muffins and they have a muffin - cant remember the name of it - but it tasted like a snickerdoodle cookie. Mmm!

6 months ago this was a 5 star review.i have been frequenting this cafe for 9 years. Im an artist in the RAD, and Id come once or twice a week. Since coming under new management, recipes have changed, the ingredients are smaller, fewer, and cheaper, and they dropped the punch cards. I could forgive all that, but not the service. The last three times I was in, the staff was dismissive and rude. This seems to be the experience of the other artists in my studio also. Sad, to lose such a great cafe, but we wont be returning. Taco Billy and All Souls it is!

Tried this place on a whim while visiting the River Arts District. The atmosphere inside was cool, but the service wasnt very friendly (prompt but in my opinion attitude matters). My boyfriend loves anything thats put on his plate, but here he threw away 70% of his food. My bread on the sandwich was stale. For a cafe, I expect more quality in a sandwich. I hate publishing bad reviews, just wasnt pleased.

This is a must visit for a coffee nerd. They carefully time and weigh their espresso shots and watch the pressure. They also home make their cold brew and run it through a nitro tap (like a guiness) to make a heavenly and thick cold coffee with air throughout making it creamy without using creamer. The discovery of this place in Asheville puts Asheville up there for coffee lovers right alongside Seattle

Ive given this place several chances because its super close to my house, and Im always disappointed. The food is consistently bland or dry, the staff is unpleasant, and my most recent latte was about %70 foam. Anyway, there are so many better food and coffee options in Asheville, I would recommend steering clear of the Clingman Cafe.

Walked in here randomly after checking out the galleries nearby and Im so glad we did. Food is incredible, definitely recommend the Hangover Breakfast sandwich to eat (pretzel, ham, cheddar, egg, honey mustard) and the Rick James (Mexican coke, espresso, vanilla) to drink. Just amazing!

holy smokes! I had my doubts about Ultra since it changed hands from clingman cafe, but just WOW. the food is incredible. Jake, the barista that helped me at the register was world class and THE PRICES ARE RIDICULOUS. One of the best (and fastest) inexpensive breakfast stops in town ❤

Great changes here I do miss NPR playing in the mornings . It was so nice to grab a coffee and enjoy some morning news. The hard rock that was playing today was not quiite the same experience. Food and service here very good.

Clingmans is the answer to all of your problems. Hangover? Clingmans. 9 hours of class? Clingmans. Haven of recovery for awkward tinder date experience? Clingmans. These people are like little angels in aprons.

Great coffee place! Its one of the good cafes where coffee tastes really good and blended pretty well. Its just small and not enough parking spots. Other than that, its a great place to chill.

Great food in a good location in River Arts District. Solid coffee and cold brew, with an option for nitro cold brew -yum. Really enjoyed the veggie wrap with hummus

Yummm. I ordered a dirty chai and an Elvis George bagel (but subbed for Tempeh bacon) and they were both fantastic. That bagel kept me full for the whole day!
