Stopped by Sunny Point Café for an early afternoon lunch and WOW, this place is solid! Theyve got great vibes and the quality of food to back it up. I love their commitment to local sourced ingredients and they even have their own garden! I would definitely recommend this EVERYONE in the Asheville area! Food: I got The Southern omelette ($10.50) with mushroom and spinach. The dish comes with cheese grits and a homemade biscuit. Lets start with the grits--THIS ARE SOME BOMMMMMMBB MUTHAEFFING GRITS! I grew up in NC, but I currently live in SoCal so one thing I always missed was some damn good grits. Hallelujah for Sunny Point Café cuz these grits are hot fire (as in good, not spicy lol)!!! As for the biscuit, it was a delicious as homemade gets! Now, for the omelette, it was pretty good--Id say 4/5. The reason being was that although the ingredients were great and the candied bacon was amazing, all-together, it was still kind of bland. You really need to go heavy on the hot sauce and ketchup to give it the punch it needs. Its better than any omelette I could ever make, but it being the main dish, I was hoping for a little more. Bottom line, solid meal. Ill be dreaming about those grits on my flight back home haha. Service: Bar side service was fantastic. She was friendly and attentive! Vibes: The most striking thing about this spot is the shaded patio area. Lots of beautiful natural light to justify the name. Its a bit limited on space inside and youll feel a bit cramped but the food makes it absolutely worth it.

Ive been to Sunny Point on at least 3 different occasions. One time I went in the morning with my family and ordered huevos rancheros which was pretty good, and the service was decent. Another time, I went in the evening with a friend of mine and had a sandwich; it wasnt terribly busy, but our server completely disappeared. Most recently, I went there for dinner with my boyfriend, and ordered a salmon entree. When our server stopped by to tell us the food would be out soon, it was another half an hour before it landed on our table. The food took over 45 minutes to arrive altogether and the salmon was very overcooked. My boyfriends shrimp and grits were watery and bland. We would have ordered an appetizer if we had any idea the food would take that long. It was a busy night, but we never expected to be waiting that long. The wait time is always high if you go in the morning. Its a well-established local breakfast joint, so this is to be expected. The food was good two out of three times, but not outstanding. When combined with the mediocre service and issues I experienced, it leads me to conclude that the place is overvalued. Id rather go for breakfast to a diner like 5 Points and feel confident that what Im getting will be consistently good, and for a great price.

Some good, but mostly just okay... We parked at the dollar general across the street and made sure to arrive before 8am where a line had already been formed...about 2 minutes after we had been seated they called last table. I ordered the huevos Ranchero which was mediocre, the potatoes were dry and inedible, my wife ordered eggs over hard which came scrambled, bacon and carrot cake pancakes with cardamom butter...the pancakes were outstanding the rest mediocre, my baby ordered scrambled eggs and our server brought him a Mr potato head to play with...my son had no complaints about the eggs or the potato head. Also, use the bathroom before you come...as we ate, the line to the bathroom only continued to grow. All in all...dont believe the hype...its a breakfast joint with a bar, a small parking lot, a tiny dinning room, a decent patio and not enough bathroom. Im sure they have other dishes equally as good as the carrot pancakes, but for all the trouble, its not worth it for me to try and find out...IMO if you can make pancakes taste that good, you should put an equal amount of care in making everything else you serve, excellent.

From the minute we drove into the parking lot we knew it was a unique type of restaurant. You could visit there Gordon where many of the vegetables and herbs that they used or grown. The garden is large with many vegetables. People working at Sunny Point had Smiles on their faces and you could tell they all enjoyed their work. the young lady who waited was friendly and aiming to please. When asked for our drink order one gentleman in our party ask for beer. All beer is locally brewed, so she brought him several samples. We ordered the cauliflower as an appetizer. That was the beginning of a scrumptious meal. The grouper was excellent, just as all the other items. The very casual atmosphere combined with some of the best food ever, makes for a perfect relaxing evening. You will want to go back. Thanks to all at Sunny Point for making our evening perfect. Knowing so many ingredients are grown in their garden makes it special. .

Amazing breakfast. From the waiting area with free delicious coffee, to the atmosphere to the wonderful food, this place is top notch. I got a customized make it yourself omelette with sausage brie cheese onions, peppers, fresh tomatoes, covered in gravy. Came with a side biscuit and pimento cheese grits (gave my hubby the biscuit and had a bite of the grits which were just ok but Im not huge into grits). Omelette was seriously amazing, and I was sad I couldnt finish it. My husband got the bacon, fresh tomato, and pimento cheese omelette, called the Southwestern. He got the same sides that I did. He was not as impressed as I was, but I tried his and thought it was really good. The price was quite reasonable for what you get. Also, added bonus, they appear to grow their own herbs and veggies and use that in their delicious menu items. We will definitely be visiting this gym again for breakfast next time we visit Asheville.

Yes, theres a wait. Yes, its worth it. There are plenty of spaces to wait without crowding anyone. You can have a cup of coffee or order a drink while you wait. The mimosa I had was perfect, and they offer several flavors. Everyone helps...if your plate is empty, someone will whisk it away. And of note, I didnt notice a single bad attitude in the bunch, but I did overhear 2 other tables discussing how great their food was, and a third who asked for the manager to compliment the bloody mary he had. I sat at the small 4-seat bar, which was fine. The shrimp and grits were described by the bartender (a man) as "exquisite", which is a pretty big promise to fill, but that promise was surpassed. Simply one of the most amazing dishes Ive ever had. Thank you, Sunny Point Cafe for a perfect start to my day. Youve set the bar pretty danged high.

I had been looking forward to eating at Sunny Point and had heard good things about it. The food was good but our server was very rude and seemed "put out" by anything we asked about...we were never even asked if we wanted to order anything to drink! He just said "everybody OK with water?" and with the tone that he sure hoped so. When asked to leave something off of a sandwich, my friend was told "thats the way it comes"! When we asked if there were other salad dressings he said he guessed he could go find some balsamic back in the kitchen. He had only given us one choice.I could go on but you get the point. Because of his attitude I am not sure I will ever return. The Manager did seem friendly but he needs to be aware of this problem. I looked for his name but he wasnt wearing a name tag or I would gladly report him.
