The service is whats keeping this from being a 5 star review. The Stable Cafe is location next to the Biltmore House - which is why we decided that we would eat here. We had just finished touring the home and we had some time to kill before the next tour began. The Cafe is just as you would expect. It is the old horse stable that has been converted into a cafe. The floor is still original and even the stables are still there. It is such a neat place. The cafe even has a second floor but we couldnt figure out how to get up there. I assume that may be reserved for parties or maybe during the dinner hours when I am sure they are even busier. My partner and I decided that we both were going to have the Chicken salad for lunch. Now I love chicken salad and eat it quite a bit - but theirs is very different to the types I have had before. I have never had chicken salad that had celery in it. That threw me off a little - to be honest. BUT it was good. I enjoyed every bite. I also enjoyed the atmosphere and thinking that back in the late 1800s and early 1900s I was eating in the area where the horses were kept. What I did not enjoy is the service. It was not all that great. We waited what felt like 10 minutes before our server even came over to the table. And even after that point his attentiveness to us was not all that great. He was an older gentleman and he was never rude. But just seemed like he didnt care much for our table. Maybe he has an issue with two men having lunch together - I dont know. Or maybe he was just having an off day. Either way, it wasnt that great. But for the food, vibe, and experience we had he was not enough to ruin the overall experience for us. Besides I saw other servers running around taking good care of their tables so I factor that in as well.

This is a great place to enjoy lunch while visiting the estate. You may have to wait for a table (was about a 25 minute wait for us on a weekday in October) but its much more relaxing than waiting in line and then trying to find a table in the courtyard. The food is very good (local farms are used for some of the ingredients) and they are willing to customize. I was able to substitute spinach for iceberg lettuce in one of their salads. And you can eat in a horse stall! :) Overall, good food and atmosphere. Positives: Locally sourced, interesting selections, nice atmosphere. Negatives: Air conditioning was blasting on us in October (had to wear my coat), a little pricey (but what do you expect for Biltmore Estate)

Weve been here several times over the years but lately its been lacking. The check-in to get our table was chaotic. Seemed like they didnt know what was going on with seating people. The waitress wasnt very attentive and my order was wrong. Food showed up quickly but my barbque pork was soggy and French fries were soggy from whatever liquid was on pork (not sauce, water Im guessing) and the Cole slaw was floating in dressing. Tasted ok , not great. Seems like objective is to get people in and out quick and thats it, not to provide a good meal and nice dining experience.

We were seated upstairs in what was the hay loft. Excellent atmosphere with the service you expect at the Biltmore. Food was top notch with the 3 of us have the Carolina BBQ. Julie and I shared the Sampler Plate for 2 while other guest had the BBQ Plate. Meat and sides were top notch. I was a bit disappointed in the Eastern Carolina BBQ sauce. Seemed like we only got vinegar with no other ingredients. And we missed the Brunswich Stew which used to be part of the Sampler. That stew is so good. Coffee and tea were excellent as well.

Been to Biltmore more times than I can count but my first time at the Stable Cafe and I will definitely be coming back! My husband and I shared the sampler platter for two(which was delicious!) and honestly since we split the leftovers the next day, we could have gotten away with just the one portion size. Susan, our waitress, was AWESOME!!!!! Absolutely loved her and her attentiveness and bubbly personality. Definitely come early though, there is always a wait for here for good reason!

This place is in the building thats right beside the Biltmore main house. We had a 30 minute wait time and when we finally got to our table, we were greeted warmly. The lady who took care of us was very kind and was patient and understood what we need and recommended the dishes for us. I ordered the Quiche of the day, but I realized it was too cheesy for me and I was kindly replaced it with rotissere chicken. The food, the atmosphere and warm welcome of people is impressive.

My wife and I were celebrating our 16th anniversary this weekend with our kids and we decided to reserve a table for lunch while at the Biltmore. This was the best choice we could have made. Our server, Carlos, made our day. He was great, attentive and fun. The rest of the staff was professional as well. Our lunch was incredible and it was the highlight of our day. Thanks again to the Stable Cafe staff. We hope to visit again soon!!

As you can probably guess, the pricing is higher than your typically lunch spot. However, the options are plentiful and very satisfying. Not to mention, eating in an old carriage house is unique and a special enhancement to the entire experience! Overall, a great lunch option if youre touring the mansion all day, just be sure to get in before the lunch crowd arrives.

Second time eating here. Very short wait (20 mins at 12:45pm). Great service, and the atmosphere is nice whether in a booth or table. Booths are better though, ask for one if available. The food is always very tasty and at reasonable prices (28.00 for 2 is pretty inexpensive considering the other places to eat on the estate). Food is raised on site.

Im a season pass holder for the estate and my wife and I come at least once a month. Every time we visit we eat at the Stable Cafe, and every time we are not disappointed. I like to get something different every visit, but my go-to is either the bison burger or the Carolina barbecue. You cannot go wrong with those if you enjoy a good meal.

Typical tourist trap meal. Nothing special about the food, and overpriced for what it is. Waitress was impatient, and whatever you do, dont get the corn chowder, as it looked and tasted like what I think baby vomit would. My black coffee was fine, at least.

I ordered a kale salad, and there was too much quinoa and not enough kale. Other than that it was excellent. My wife ordered a quiche with Pimento cheese and had no problems with it. I would definitely recommend this place if you are at the Biltmore.

Not impressed. I was really expecting there to be a sense of the period interms of the music that was playing. Except it with some 80s pop music. The food was expensive for what you actually received portion wise. Very annoyed by the experience.
