I came here based on the good reviews about this restaurent and the fact that one can get authentic sri lankan food on the island. I was quite dissapointed with the service, as there was only one person serving the whole place and he didnot seem very happy at seeing customers. The owner of the restaurent also happened to be at the restaurent but instead of helping out with the orders he nonchalantly engaged with some friends who were also visiting the restaurent. The food came in quite late 20 mins waiting. In my group we had ordered fish cutlets, godambi roti, kottu roti, chicken curry, king fish curry, shrimp curry The food was ok, not bad but i have tasted better srilankan food Overall i will say bad service and ok food

Update on my review : Visited again today after several months, Restaurant has been relocated and the new location does not have a fraction of the ambiance of the previous restaurant ( which had a rich cultural decor second only to the Lakruwana restaurant near by) Im not sure if the management has changed too. Quality of the food - A disaster.... Lamprais - deep fried and overcooked dry chicken, other components of the dish is extremely poor in quality. Kotthu - greasy ++ , again with that overcooked chicken, tasteless. Original Review Place to experience authentic Sri Lankan dishes. Must try include lumprais, kottu, hoppers. Taste is very near to the tastes you can find back in Sri Lanka itself.

Best Food for a long time! We ordered the mango lassi, it was wonderful with real mango fresh taste! Then lentil soup was the best I ever had, flavorful and seasoned very well. The main dishes are chicken curry and beef with potato. Both are wonderful, chicken is tender and potato is so tasty! The owner even gave us a sample of green beans with potato dish - that was the highligtht for me :) If they can make vegetarian dish so well what else cant they do?! Last we ended with coconut puddin. The whole meal was spot on! I would just travel to NY to eat at the restaurant again...

We went here for some real Sri Lankan food and from the beginning till the end it was fantastic!!! The chicken curry, onion salad and the veggie rice were amazing I am not a big fan of spicey food and unlike other places the waiter actually pointed out which was and which wasnt. The deviled pork although spicey was really good.... The waiter (i wish i knew his name cause he was so kind) came over to ask what i thought of the food and if it was ok. Over all this place is fantastic i truly wish i could give it 100 stars....

I really like Sri Lankan food so the only place to get it is in Staten Island. We ordered the Kottu Roti with King Fish curry and the Lamprie with chicken. The dishes were presented beautifully. The Kottu Roti was in a pyramid shape and the Lamprie was on a banana leaf. The food was tasty and the portion was large. They also have a buffet on Sundays for $11.99 which seems like a good deal. From what I saw that was set up, there seemed to be a lot of choices: a variety curries, sides, salad, and dessert.

So we dined here not knowing that it was not San Rasa, but a new restaurant without a name. We were told that they were in the midst of a relocation. They did not have any of the classic SL dishes on the menu for vegetarians. We had to order boring rice and curry as we did not want to insult them and leave the restaurant. The server was pleasant. They dont give you any original accompaniments like pol sambol unless you ask for it. Not likely to return here.

As good as it gets in any borough for unique and affordable ethnic food! Sunday buffet is only $12.99 for all you can eat. Delicious rice dishes, meats, vegetables (eggplant mojo!), and naan-like bread and chips. Desserts are surprisingly delicious - tastes better than it looks (amazing chocolate chip cookies!). My favorite part is probably all their sauces, chiles, toppings, etc. Spicy coconut, kale/coconut salad, pickled peppers, etc. Yum!

Dont see what the fuss is about. I came here on the strong recommendation of some friends, but did not see the appeal. I ordered the chicken lamprie, which seemed to be their speciality, but it was extremely bland, like to the point where I wondered if I had come to the right place. The service was good though, so I wouldnt mind coming back to try other dishes, and maybe experience some of what my friends did.

Found this place recommended in several places, so went after taking the ferry. The food was really tasty and prepared as you order, but the service was really slow. Took us over 40min to get the first dish served (for 1 person) and then 15min for the next ones. We solved it by sharing everything, but thats not how you should get your meal...

We went to the Sunday Buffet and it was delicious. Lots of options for the vegetarian and meat eaters. I highly recommend this buffet. And you can bring your own alcohol to accompany your meal.

Absolutely love this place. Among the several (also outstanding) Sri Lankan places nearby, this is my all-around favorite for quality of food, service, and appearance/ambiance.
