I live in the community and have been a patron of 101 Street Deli for several years now. I especially enjoy their breakfast food which is spectacular but my concern and reason for the 3 stars is an incident that transpired this morning regarding the price of my order (something I consistently order all the time so I know the price). Before selecting the size of coffee, my bill was $9 (which automatically includes a small coffee). I decided to upgrade to a medium. When I handed my $20 to pay for my order I received $9 back. At first I though maybe this is an error because she (the elderly woman) said $9 was the cost and perhaps as the human mind sometime tends to trick ourselves, she was thinking 9 and handed me that amount back. I politely asked to clarify the cost of the meal and she confirmed it was $9, so I inquired how I got $9 back from a $20. She proceeded to state what I already knew a small coffee is included but I asked for a medium size and the medium is $2. Since I am a woman of color, law enforcement was in the establishment and I cared not to engage and further question nor argue this point as the state of the world being what it is I did not wish for an end result that was poor, I just said "oh, ok I know I wasnt going crazy" and laughed it off, grabbed my bag and exited. Now, there are several things wrong here as I write this review, first an upgrade from a small coffee to a medium size coffee should not cost $2 extra (basically paying the price of the coffee despite the fast that a small size is already included in the dish. second, I would hate to think that this woman took advantage of me and the situation just because she could. third, I do realize as a mid-aged woman the unfortunate absurdity that I did not feel empowered to further question a legitimate and obvious unreasonable price increase due to the circumstances and not feeling safe in the presence of law enforcement, finally, please be advised that I do hope it was an honest error on her part but if it was not then please do realize that if it happens again you will loose my patronage and potentially that of my family and friends. Ive been coming here for several years and since they have a new owner their overpriced sandwiches are terrible...The only worker who makes the sandwiches well is the big white guy...The rest are a joke...They constantly mess up my order and rarely pay attention to detail after writing down what the customer requests...The quality of meat has gone down as well and their shrimp salad is sour...I will not be coming back here...Ive given them several opportunities to get it together due to my love for their freshly baked bread

Local Deli serving up outstanding Sandwiches for over two decades. Has some indoor seating. Cash only but worth it. Try the Thursday Special. Its roast beef, gravy, and melted cheese on garlic bread. Order a side of cheesy Rockaway Fries. You wont be disappointed.

Good sandwiches .... Feel the owners are there to only make money and could care less about the customers . Staff always seemes overwhelmed . They dont accept Credit -Debit cards , What ????? Take away their amazing bread and they are just another deli ..

They are too slow in the morning. Chris should hire more ppl in the am and once the beach season picks up. Also, I think the prices are too high! I can get a great tasting hero at stop n shop, NSA or compare foods. Prices are too damn high xoxo

Fresh hot and delicious sandwiches. I havent had a bad sandwich from them yet pastrami sandwich with coleslaw five stars easy. Fresh bread clean establishment. Nice people good prices. You cant ask for anything better.

Too pricey, food ok, and the fact that when you go there everyone has a different price for what you are buying. 30 minutes on line to get a half gallon of milk. Oh wait what line every one rushes the counter.

Dont order the egg salad. Twice now I have been given egg salad that tastes sour. You would think when I asked, "How is the egg salad ?" and the response was "its fresh"..... it would taste okay.
