I was looking for a quaint, small business upstate whilst I was en- route to Montreal for a weekend. As I came off 87, I decided to stop at Monkey Joe because of its stellar reviews on yelp and google. The reviews MOST DEFINITELY did not match the operational standards and quality so feverish espoused on the internet. Upon ordering a frozen drink (the cookie king if I remember correctly) I realized that the bases used were the ones also used in virtually every other corporate store(however at least $1.20 more than starbucks), and retracted my order for a double shot mocha instead. It was mediocre, and not worth the extra money spent to support their "Fair Trade" and "Sustainable" ethos. As the sources of the coffee beans are not listed(and their origin being further obscured by on site roasting practices), bearing only Fair Trade labels which could have been thrown on to anything, I doubt to believe that they are staying true to these practices and instead using them to ideologically justify very expensive coffee. The service was great, except for the overwhelming presence of whom I assume to be the managers. The way in which they "maintained the standards of quality and consistency" greatly interfered with the de-facto attitude and atmosphere of a coffee shop. This place is a waste of time, more so than a waste of money.

OKKKKKKK SIMPLY THE VERY BEST COfFEE ,PEOPLE, and the highest consciousness shop ever!!! Ive been buying coffee and shipping to friends and my kids all over the world since FOREVER! I saw a low rating form two people. Its impossible to think that they were not bowled over as all of the rest of us are. This amazing business couldnt possibly have more delicious coffee and people across the board. If you are lucky enough to be able to stop by or order YOULL be Sooooo happy you did! Also when a store sells only Organic Fair trade coffee and also running there store on wind and solar you just gotta love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The ambience is great, the coffee today tasted good (house decaf you pump for yourself, in a real mug) although it wasnt really hot. Unfortunately, I went in there to work and there is NO WIFI. I had to get a to go cup and drive to another location.

The best local coffee shop in Kingston. The Chocolate Monkey is by far the best. Also, try King Kong Cookie. They also have many flavors of coffee available for you to take home and brew. Its worth a visit if youre in town.

Coffee is awesome the owner needs to find a line of work that does not have him interacting with customers or they wont have any business !!! And maybe be nicer to people especially if they have little ones . Rude man
