My go-to taco place in Jackson Heights for cheap, delicious and authentic Mexican food. I dont think service is the best, but this aint no high-class restaurant. Youre getting a taco for $2.50 so dont expect waitresses to cater to your every need and hand you a tissue when you need to sneeze. You flag them down to order and to pay. I also noticed that all the waitresses are women dressed in tight shirts and pants. I guess it helps with male customers who like to oggle the ladies. Just dont undermine them - they definitely know how to run a busy restaurant. I love the complimentary chips and salsa they give you when you sit down. Its usually warm since they continuously fry them to keep up with demands. I recommend the chicken tacos - its basic, but its good. The beef is not so good - a lot of fat and unchewable pieces. The gyro one is super flavorful and I heard a lot of good things about the spicy pork too. I want to try the other dishes though. They have an extensive menu full of homemade Mexican food.

The best $2.50 Taco ever! A little down the street from the MTA station, this place is authentic and genuinely legit. When I first walked in, it seemed like all the locals were eating here. You know its good when the locals come here to get their fixings. Ordered a Carne Asada and a pulled pork taco to go. Service was fast and quick, although it did take awhile for them to acknowledge me since it was pretty busy. But once my order was taken, it was done in less than 10 minutes. The taco that you get in the city are bite sized compared to these babies. Meat in both tacos were moist and very soft. Flavors tasted very fresh and crisp. This is the go to spot for a taco near the city.

Ive been to this place a few times but my last experience wasnt as pleasant. I was greeted at the door and sat down. I place a drink order and my food order at the same time. I always ask for the same so I know it doesnt take a long time as I was hungry, I ordered beef tacos. After twenty minutes I tried to get my waitress attention and she came over saying that my food was almost ready. I kept waiting, and past thirty minutes I got really mad and asked my waitress for my bill because I didnt see my food coming. Apparently she never put my order in... I might not be coming to this place, the food is decent but service is not the best as on that day the restaurant was slow.

This probably the best representation of Mexican cuisine in NY. Sure not everyone knows about Coatzingo but I can ensure you that once you try their food, you wont be going anywhere else to grab Mexican food because the menu is outstanding and the cook really knows how to bring Mexico to Coatzingo. The food is irresistible. The service is great. Honestly Ive been going to Coatzingo for 8 years and I cant think of a better place to grab nachos con Carne or tacos from. Parking isnt the best but the restaurant is outstanding. The interior design is very festive and why not a bit extravagant but that is exactly what makes Coatzingo so unique.

Whoever said New York does not have good Mexican food obviously has not stepped out of Manhattan and into Jackson Heights, Queens. Taqueria Coatzingo is like my Mexican diner. Its my go to place when I just need a bite at any hour in the night, when I dont want to spend a lot of money, and I need food... Good food. Food that tastes home cooked. Ill usually start out with a taco and then share a dish like enchiladas or beef steak with rice. The dishes are huge and can feed a family. Right now Im craving a gargantuan cemita sandwich. I suggest you go and find out what Im talking about. Mmmmm hmmmm... Free chips and salsa too!

I go to order tacos and they give me an outdated menu with the wrong price. Rude Cashier refuses to honor the price and throws hands up in the air. Finally, I found another cashier that understood why they had to fix it and found a solution to do so. That all wouldve been looked over if the tacos were edible. The meat was dry (except the carnitas that the majority was just literally floppy rubbery gross skin) and the tortillas were soggy and slimy. How do you mess up tacos this hard. And in Jackson heights?!?!?! Inexcusable. The ABSOLUTE worst. Thanks for ruining my taco Tuesday.

A year ago I would have said Taqueria Coatzingo was the best Mexican food I have had in NY. The tacos are cheap and they are full to the brim with meat, avocado, and lettuce. Its not like taco bell. There is also a lot of things to eat here like chicken soup, steak nachos, those big cemita sandwiches. I cant leave without a giant horchata. Even after eating so much I just need a horchata. So good. You wont be disappointed. They recently got new tables and a new look. The food changed a little. Dont know if it is under new management or they got a new cook. Its still good though.

Taqueria Coatzingo is a popular place. And rightly so. The foods affordable & delicious. A large order of rice & beans is $4.00 & could easily be split as two meals. I always ask for a side of salsa verdo or pico de gallo to liven things up. Tacos have gone up in pricing (from $2 to $2.50 apiece) but that hasnt stopped me & mine from throwing down on a weeknight and gorging on tasty tacitos. To appease my conscious, and to feel like less of a heifer, I order the shrimp salad.

The food wasnt so bad, but the service was horrible as well as the music they played. If I come to a Mexican restaurant, I expect the atmosphere to follow the food culture as well. I was confused what kind of restaurant I was in, I kept hearing salsa and bachata. Their lost for not putting Mexican music, or I would have ordered more drinks. They take forever to take orders.

After having seen great reviews both on Yelp and google, I was sorely disappointed and must conclude that many reviewers simply dont realize that much of the foods here lack that essential element that makes up the Mexican flavour. Its cheap, its plentiful, and the waitstaff is very amiable, but there are many better Mexican food options within several blocks of here.
