This restaurant was recommended to us by the hotel and the other review I read led me to believe this would be a nice place to have dinner and a beer. The atmosphere was comfortable and they had TVs to watch the game and what-not. The bar appeared to be a local hang-out for the 45+ crowd. Service was friendly, and prompt for the most part. I was disappointed by the food. The salad bar that came with my meal was pretty weak. Only had iceberg lettuce, a few selections of raw vegetables (no broccoli, peas, carrots), the dressing selection was ok and there was bread available. I ordered the grilled chicken and was expecting more from what I got. It wasnt plated well and looked like everything was thrown on the plate haphazardly. The chicken breast I got was dry, thin, and seemed like it was a previously frozen. The vegetables on the plate also seemed to be frozen and had no flavor. My co-worker complained that his burger seemed frozen also. The beer was good and cheap, but that was the only plus to this restaurant.

The two things going for the place are low prices and speed of service. I had the wings and they came out in less than five minutes. They were dry and not very hot or sauced and I got the impression they came from a holding table and not from a fryer. In any case somehow precooked. I was going to order the calamari, but saw an order on my way in and it looked like it had been prebreaded-- large rings and no fun tentacles. The bar area has plenty of TVs, a lottery game and good prices on beer. Yuengling is only $3/pint and less during happy hour. Very good service. Better than Applebees for price and somewhat comparable.

Horrible experience. We came in on a night which wasnt busy and waited 10 minutes before walking out. No one came to take our drink order or acknowledged we were there, but the gentleman next to us walked in and immediately got his drink order taken. Our waitress was cleaning the salad bar right behind us for the entire 10 minutes we were there so we were upset when she ignored us but took the next tables order. I hope others have a better experience but we wont be going back

Ive been eating at The Rose for quite a long time. The food is great, consistent and they feature a great salad bar (with hot food and soup @ lunch). They also have quickdraw which can make a work day lunch woth co-workers even more entering. The Rose has been one of my local favorite spots for 15+ years. Highly recommend trying the "Fly Me To The Moon" sauce, put it on the "Rose Burger" and you will love it.

Food was awful and over-priced. Service was rude and unprofessional. Waited nearly an hour for a tasteless pizza and another half hour to get the check. Unless you have two hours to kill, an abundance of money at your disposal, and a love for greasy, tasteless food, skip The Rose.

Nice restaurant with friendly staff. Menu options are mostly typical Americana, but prepared well. The bar is great for afterwork gatherings or a late night get-together, with a excellent selection of appetizers and other bar food. Decent set of beers on tap.

While visiting Ithaca six of my friends and I had dinner at the Rose Restaurant. What a great place! The service was excellent and the food was out of this world. The Rose is by far the best restaurant in Ithaca, and so say all of my friends.

Eat here at least once a week, love the staff, the food is hit and miss, but the pizza is really good and lunch buffet is good and love most of the wait staff--esp. Diane and KC.
