A friend and I came back into the town from camping at Fahnstock. We decided to stop at Foundry for breakfast before catching the Metro back to NYC. We came prepared to take the end table on right side of the cafe and put down our camping gear against a door to get them out of the aisle. The owner/waitress tells us "I cant have your stuff in my shop", further stating there were stairs behind that door which people needed to get to. We had no problem with what she said just how to came out, her tone was extremely rude. So we were picking up our things, as she passes to drop off a bill she again states "I cant have your stuff in my shop". So we have our things and we discussing if it wasnt too cold to sit at their outdoor table, which the waitress did not offer us to do, and again the waitress passes by and says "Im sorry but I cant have your stuff in my shop". Still in a rude manner and at this point it sounds like she telling us to get our stuff and get out. Even the people at a table beside us picked up on this. I mean its camping gear which we could have easily put in the corner at the back of the cafe. She acted as if we were carrying bags of live vermin. Anyway, we left and went to the Cold Spring Cafe whose waitress was the complete opposite of Foundry waitress. She let us put our things in a corner and gave us lovely service. I dont get it, perhaps the owner/waitress has it out for camping gear. Perhaps she thinks her business is successful enough to practically tell potential customers to leave.

This place is pretty gross. My friends and I ate there because someone told us that it was vegan-friendly, which it is not. The waitress was loud and would yell across the restaurant to people. She ignored us even though we were one of three tables in the place. When she finally brought us water she STUCK HER FINGERS IN THE GLASSES to carry them. We were so thirsty--had just been hiking for five hours--and couldnt drink what she brought us! We ended up filling our water bottles with tap from the bathroom sink. The food was not good. One guy ordered the A.L.T sandwich. He said it didnt taste good and he said the coleslaw was terrible. I tried it and realized immediately the MAYO HAD GONE RANCID. There was also the same mayo in his sandwich. We were in a rush to get our train and asked for the check, explaining why we needed it. Despite that, it still took them 20 minutes to bring our check. We just barely made our train. I would NOT recommend this place to anyone.

Small town gem close to the train station, this cafe serves hearty meals at great prices. Ive been coming to this place consistently over 10 years whenever doing a day trip to hike in the Hudson Highlands. Whether its pancakes, served with real maple syrup, or a choice of many salads and sandwiches, the food has always been consistent and good. Breakfast bacon is always crunchy and crispy, and you never run out of coffee. Sharon gets and serves you like youre family. I highly recommend the pancakes and my favorite sandwich is BALT, A is for avocado

You know from one look at the foundry that its a locals favorite with a ton of charm! Consistently good food and great service. Best quick breakfast in town. Staff knows the regulars and makes friends with newcomers. Clean and friendly, but not white napkin. I have to laugh at the germophobe city hiker tourists who complained about the "yelling waitress" - you people wouldnt know soul if it bit you in the face. If you cant appreciate the Foundry, go back home and hide your head in a pothole on 3rd Avenue. Note: closed Tuesdays.

A treasure in cold spring. This place has great wholesome cooking. As the saying goes dont judge a book by its cover. Actually I love the cover. Its feng shui, its deceptively simple, its eco-friendly, its like being at home. I am a big fan of the wild lentil cakes, the zen burgers, the vegetarian chilli and the soups. If you are vegan/vegetarian its the only place in Cold Spring to get great tasting food. Also great for omletes and pancakes. This is where the locals eat.

This is the best place for breakfast or lunch in Cold Spring. Sharon is the best as she remembers my entire family and what we regularly order. I eat here at least once a week. During the week there is a friendly bunch of regulars there for breakfast. My favorite menu items are the breakfast special, oatmeal, BLT, and chili. Also dont forget to have desert, all made right there in the cafe. I will definitely miss this place when we move. BTW 10% off for military with ID.

The Food is out of this world excellent. Whole grain foods as well as Diner food and comfort food are on the menue. Everything is homemade right down to the fresh squeezed orange juice, thats served on weekends. The coffee is very good. The Foundry Cafe has the charm of Cold Spring and many residents go their for a meal or a coffee. I will come back again and again. Bring a book and read or a friend. You can get Optimum wifi there, and its close to the train.

You;re not gonna do better in Cold Spring than the Foundry Cafe. The owner (chef) has amazing talent, the waitress is down to earth, always remembers everyone, and makes the place feel like your Grandmas kitchen. The food- exceptional! The best on their menu: the weekend french toast. Huge portions and you will not get better prices in this town. I cant believe anyone would go elsewhere for breakfast! Their lunch sandwiches are amazing as well.

Un café typique sur la grande rue de Cold Spring. Très bon accueil un matin à 11 heures pour quelques cookies et des boissons. Les gâteaux délicieux et le choix des boissons assez large.

Great - actually, amazing - breakfast. One of those places where you covet the food at the next table. Great homemade muffins. Eggs are perfect. Coffee delish. We read on Google Reviews prior to coming that the servers had attitude. Just the opposite! They were warm and attentive. Sharon remembered our names when we came back the next day. Highly recommend!

We went here in July 15 and it was great. The food was absolutely brilliant and the portions were more than big enough. I had to shake the cooks hand they were that good!! The people were really friendly and relaxed. We even brought some of their flavoured coffee home (UK). Don t listen to the negative reviews here, it was a really great experience.

We stopped by this afternoon after taking a look at several restaurant menus on the way. This cafe seemed very vegetarian friendly and had an emphasis on using fresh natural ingredients. The food did not let us down. However, service was a bit slow with just one server who did a great job given the circumstances. Great prices too.

I got the apple pie and myy friend got the cheesecake and oatmeal. Some of the best applie pie and cheesecake Ive had in a long time (also slightly expensive, but very worth it). Oatmeal was pretty good. Service was nothing above par, just solid and pleasant. Would defintley recommend for your next stop through Cold Spring.
