My girlfriends and I recently decided to visit Allen Street Hardware Restaurant on Allen St in Buffalo, which turned out to be a huge mistake. When we arrived, the hostess told us that it would be a 20-minute wait so we went to enjoy a drink at the bar while we waited. We were finally seated 2 hours after we arrived, only to be treated like complete garbage from the staff. The manager, Tracy, told us there was nothing they could do, that we should have made reservations, that she was not going to split up our checks and that we could walk down the street to an ATM to get cash. Apparently this is all part of their “policy.” Not to mention the food was absolutely disgusting, cold and soaked in grease. Today, my friend who paid the full check (because remember, “they weren’t able to split them") got a Facebook message from the owner, Charlie Goldman. My favorite snippets from the conversation are when he told us to “please don’t ever come back” or “just making sure we don’t ever see you guys again”. What about when he said, “Go to the gym, you will need it.” Allen Street Hardware and Charlie Goldman, is it your policy to tell customers that they will be seated in 20 minutes and let 2 hours go by without acknowledging them? Is it your policy to be completely unaccommodating, rude and nasty to your tables? Is it your policy to harass customers on Facebook and tell us that you don’t care to hear our feedback and that we should go to the gym? I would reconsider your policies because that is not the way to treat a community and paying customers that were willing to give your restaurant a shot.

Solid upscale pub style meals, friendly staff, delivered in a timely fashion... unless youre trying to seat ten people without a reservation in a dining area for designed for approx. 30-40 on the busiest night of the week. I make it down to Allen St. on a fairly regular basis and Hardware is one of my preferred go to spots because of their bartending staff, satisfying food and relaxed, laid back style. Only thing that could improve the menu is if they brought back their amazing baked brie. I have yet to experience any issues with my food & drink service, but I tend to only go Monday-Thursday because on weekends it does become one of the busiest spots on Allen and its not the biggest of facilities to begin with, so of course its going to be harder to get service. If youre looking for a larger spot to hang out that has more bar space and bartenders that can serve drinks faster by just slapping them together, youre probably better off sticking to Chippewa or the neighborhood Applebees. However, for everything from a family dinner, date night, or drinks with friends, Hardware is easily one of my favorite spots in the city for a nice evening out.

Well at first we were at gabriels gate. We were givin a table but no server. After 15 mins of waiting it was obvious we werent getting served so we left. I havent tried Alan hardware so we headed down there. We got a table and water quick. The atmosphere was nice. It was a little dark but still charming. The waiter was attractive and slightly spacey. The baked brie app was very good and different. Highly recommend it. The burger was medium well but the shell was burnt. Easy mistake with home made burgers. I would suggest they buy a burger ring to pound out burgers and thin it out. We thought the Prices were reasonable. Over all I would return often.

Hardware is a fine place to grab a drink. Im not a huge fan of the fact that theres almost a guaranteed cover if youre going on a weekend. But that normally means theres a DJ. The clientele is normally a class above the other joints on the strip, which is nice. Though lighting is, oddly enough, a lot worse than the other bars. Im always having trouble seeing in there. Prices for drinks are fair. Plenty of seating. A cramped as hell dance floor. But there is a room out back that can house even more entertainment. Cool place. Like it.

This place has gone downhill. Good bar with good beer selection. This is not a place to have a meal...far more concerned with the BAR than the food. Fried Chicken is supposed to be great, unfortunately they served it burnt twice...the same thing happened with the burgers...inside was the right temp, but the outside was burnt. Truly unfortunate experience....way too pricy for burnt bar food. Service was ok...

Yup, yup, yup. This was one of the first classy joints to hit the Buffalo scene, and its still good. The food is great, the booze is all top notch, and the service is pretty good. They suffer when it gets busy - and it gets SUPER busy, like standing room only - but they always have a good crowd, music is good, decor is cool. I like this place and have been back many times.

Delicious food, the place is definitely overpriced for food and always packed so the service is a little slow, but the atmosphere is so damn good that you sort of dont even care. Love sitting down to dinner here for the occasional date night. Get the cheese platter if youre a foodie. Usually a reasonable cover on the weekend if youre headed in just to drink.

The owner and subsequent staffing reflect a sexist, unwelcoming, and unprofessional establishment. Upsetting to a previously loyal customer of what used to be a staple of the Allen district. Go anywhere else, Buffalo offers plenty of lovely places to visit.

An adult, intimate place for conversation, music and drinks. Its our favorite in Allentown for the excellent service, food and ambiance. When it gets loud, its too loud, but head there early and enjoy people watching while you sip your wine.

Took our party of 10 over 40 minutes to get food. Had to sit at 2 separate tables since they have no way to set up for more than 8. Served the wrong salads to 2 of us....food was less then average and service was very slow. Disapppinted

Love this place. The bartenders are all knowledgeable and friendly, and the bar itself is accessible and fairly priced. Comfortable environment and good for a night out, and can become a party on the weekends.

Hands down, the best coffee in Buffalo. Wonderful food. Wonderful environment. Wonderful people. Also admire their business connect and support of West Side Stories and Grant St businesses in general.

Went to go see Pine Fever here with a few friends and the show was really good. Only comment would be that the way they had the band setup half the bar couldnt see them.

Very rude bartender. Was appalled after buying a drink, paying for it and having the bartender tell me to go fu#k myself and having me kicked out for no reason.

This is a good place but when it is packed it is just about unbearable. Unless youre drunk. If youre the sober one in your group, this bar can be overwhelming.

Great food, great people and great atmosphere. The cucumber avocado chilled soup was the perfect thing to start put with after a long day in the heat.
