Awesome pier to fish. Shaded/with FM music at the end of the pier. Umbrellas all along the stretch with seats and cutting boards for your live baits. Friendly locals. Especially the guy with the cast net with the 5 year old boy. He shares live mullets with you to use as bait. Friendly staff at the tackle shop. Family pier. Just cant bring beer from the outside though. (Respect the policy). It has to be purchased from tackle shop at a very reasonable price for a six pack for fishing customers. Or purchase single bottles at the bar. Seasonal entertainment at the bar and ample games at the arcade both for kids and the young at heart. Very reasonable prices. When fishing, its 6am to 6am (seasonal) the next day as long as you have your own gear. If rented, you have to turn it in when tackle shop closes. Not too great for CRABBING because pier is too high. You need a long rope for your crab traps. CRABS are ABUNDANT though (if you know where to drop your traps). Also Sharks and Skates but small ones (according to my experience) and you are not allowed to fish them but still youll find them at the other end of your line. (Nice fight experience with them). Just throw them back UNHARMED. Check this pier out especially at night. I dunno why but I kinda like the atmosphere in here.

Not friendly to those with disabilities. Have to share our excitement of the evening. Took the family to the Garden City pier where we have gone for over 30 years now and I always have Angelos yeti cup in his back pack for water. Paid $2.25 per bottle and got 3 bottles of water. Poured 1 bottle in his cup and gave him a sip before security told me he had to take my yeti cup. I explained that I just bought the 3 bottles but Angelo cannot drink out of a bottle so I have to put it in his cup. He told me there are no exceptions and that it is a law in SC that you cannot bring a yeti cup into a restaurant of any place that serves drinks. He took our cup. I asked if I could please keep the straw as he had another bottle of water and I put it in there. Another security guy came over to explain again to me and tried to make me feel like an idiot for not understanding. My 2 nieces were livid (one being an attorney in NY state) and they spoke their mind to security and also went to the owner of the pier on our way out. He informed them it was HIS law. No compassion. No southern hospitality, very rude and obnoxious. We will never return to Garden City Pier and we are quite disappointed at Garden City

The only pier Ive ever been to no matter what day or the weather Ive never not caught something. Id recommend the Hugo burger from the pier cafe which is named after the hurricane that hit in 1989 and destroyed the original pier. By far the best place to fish on the grandstrand. Im only an hour away from the pier and I travel over 100 days just to this pier. You never know what youre gonna catch. Ive seen octopus stingrays several species of shark and stingrays along with seaturtles jellyfish dolphins schools of bait fish and numours species of other fish. They even have field trips from the local schools for kids to fish and have a good time even the ones in special needs classes. Its amazing and its people volunteering their time to help make a difference to make memories for them and it touches my heart especially since I have a special needs brother

Beautiful views. Great fishing. Game room for the kids & of course adults to. Snack bar. And 2 bars for the adults. One at the beginning of the pier with karaoke and the other at the end of the pier. They serve beer and mixed drinks at night on the weekends they have a live band. Im not sure if they have one through the week though. And dont worry about bait or fishing tackle you can buy what you need there. My Myrtle Beach trip is not complete without a visit to the pier. Only drawback is parking. It might take a little looking and walking. But its worth it. There is also beach access from the pier.

Awesome pier in the heart of Garden City beach. Live music at night is perfect for the vacationer looking to relax and enjoy the ocean breeze. Pier fishing, bait arcade, ice cream restrooms, fishing gear, fishing permits as well as a few outdoor vendors. Two bars are also onsite serving the bigger name brand beers such as Budweiser, Bud Light, Coors, Coors Light, Miller, Miller Lite and of course Corona. Liquor drinks are also served with all the big top shelf brands like Jack Daniels, Patron and Jim Beam.

Rude staff closes early and kicks you out while ignoring questions as to why they are closing everything 15 minutes early. Good for fishing, a dump for everything else, including disgusting surfaces everywhere in the cafe and arcade which had several machines out of order. Staffed by some old volunteer security guard who also ignored a man having a seizure on the pier. Bystanders had to come to his aide and call emergency services while the security sat back chatting with each other. Would not come back.

Havent been fishing there yet but I understand it is free and open 24-hours a day which it very cool! very nice area all together as it is the heart of the Garden city area. It is a very nice beach. Theres a restaurant on the pier and is a great area for family with young children as they have a nice arcade and rides for them nearby (within walking distance to the pier. Have been there for a few sunrises and in a world as crazy as ours is right now it is certainly a place to relax and center oneself.

Overpriced for fishing $9.00 flat fee for fishing , they are Making their money on the restaurant, arcade etc. I think $5.00 would be reasonable or no fee and get a license. They do not offer live bait $4.00 for maybe 12 frozen shrimp. And all the other bait is frozen. Its a happening place to hang out drink and eat. But I would not recommend for fishing. Anytime you throw your left over bait in the water and dont even see a bait fish snatch it up thats a bad sign. Ill go somewhere else next time
