I visited Burly today and had one of the worst customer service experiences of my life. I was trying to study for a test and I noticed the barista start cleaning around 6:30. So, I asked him if he was closing. He told me no. But, after a few minutes people started trickling in and setting up wine and cups. Im like okay. Then the volume of the music is turned up. Okay. Im sitting in the back, and a woman comes and just stands by my table for like 5 minutes. No one else around but us, and shes acting like shes looking at a painting. Really awkward situation. The mood changed dramatically after I asked him if he was closing. It seemed like they were having a happy hour. And it would have been nice if hed just told me they were getting ready to have an event. I would have gladly left. But. nah. Theyd rather just be passive aggressive. Ive visited Burly a number of times because its really close to me. Like less than five minutes. But, after todays experience Ill walk the extra few minutes to go to one of the coffee shops on Nostrand and Lafayette. The service is waaayy better.

For 4$ a handsome guy will pour you a cup of what might be the worst ice coffee in Brooklyn. Ive tried it two times and both times it made me sick in my stomach. On the bright side the Dough donuts are pretty dope and selection of music is commendable. Plus its a locals go-to place for socializing, esp. if youre a college student. So either avoid the cold drinks (other reviews praise espresso drinks) or, like me, walk one block to the next hip coffee shop.

Burly is my new go to coffee shop in the hood. The vibe is mellow, the coffee is good, and the few interactions Ive had with the owner have been really solid. Im happy to have such a nice spot to grab my daily cup nearby.

Great cold brew except is it just me or damn, it is expensive. My large cold brew ended up being like 5.50 with tax. I couldnt get the smaller one because they have a minimum. That makes me not really want to come back

My to-go place Im the neighborhood for some coffee and wifi to get stuff done. Be aware that you will come out from there smelling of rosted coffee beans.
