This was my third visit. I really wanted to like it. On first visit, (a few years ago) I was with a group. My food came out an entire HOUR after everyone else in my group had already been served, and finished their meal. Plenty of apologies, but still had to pay full price. I became the laughing stock of my group because of it. Second visit, a year or two ago - everything was fine, just super slow. Finally, third trip today. Food was excellent, hostess friendly. Food took a LONG time to come out (everything prepared "to order" is the warning expressed in the menu). After finishing our meal we waited almost 40 minutes, and still no waitress to check on us or give us our bill. We had to ask another waitress to get our bill. It was like as soon as our food was delivered, the waitress disappeared. Others around us got great service, but it was clear who was friends with the waitstaff. They got all the attention. One table (a medium sized family) had been sitting for 15 minutes before another waitress said to them "has anyone come to your table yet?" and the parents replied "nope! not yet..." It just looked very chaotic and disorganized. I also watched two servers clean the tables with the patrons already seated. This led to at least two people getting full-on blasts of windex in their faces, because of the outdoor breeze (one clearly had it in his mouth too, just based on his reaction/expression). Both patrons clearly appeared annoyed, one even taking his sunglasses off of his head to wipe them clean of the windex he had just been blasted with. I really really want to like the Ice House. Its local, its quaint, it has gorgeous views and fun outdoor seating. But the service seems to have giant flaws that just made for an unpleasant experience for me, even after giving them a second - and a third chance.

Ok, so the view isnt as dazzling as the ads make it out to be, and the restaurant looks like a re-purposed double wide; but the food makes up for most of these annoyances. I have to say I didnt go too far out of the menu the few times Ive been here, but everything I tried was solidly good. The wings, however, were always and consistently fantastic. Ice House has a local reputation for its chunky, juicy wings. And the flavored dipping sauces are really out of this world (spicy Thai peanut chili is lip smacking, Fra Diavolo is all hell and fire, but its heaven sent). For the price and location, its a solid sleeper restaurant. Ive heard other reports from reliable neighborhood sources that the restaurant is not always consistent with the food and service. I cant say Ive experienced this, but as I stated, I keep my dining choices limited when I go here and can only report on what Ive personally enjoyed. Solid 3 stars - go check it out the next time youre going through the Throgs Neck Bridge and need a pit stop.

It seems to me that the only time this place is up to par is when the owner is there. She makes sure that youre seated and served in a timely and professional manner and is very attentive and friendly. I recently went with my spouse in the beginning of October and the waiter kept forgetting what we asked him for and we waited a long time for bread and even longer for our meal. My daughter was going to rent the room for a private event and she was very disappointed with the service and meal when she went for the first time on 10/27/15. She wasnt even given any bread at all and she and the rest of the family were the only patrons at the time. I hope they go back to the way they were soon or they will lose a lot of business.

Normally I would give this restaurant a five star rating, but my sister and I felt a bit out of place as soon as we were seated. I have to confess dinner was exquisite and my reading on point, but we felt we were being overlooked quite a bit. service was horrible Having to remind them of dessert being bought the wrong creamer twice and someone elses check makes me think maybe they were eager to get rid of us. They would never warrant a second visit or a referral. Our monies are just as good as anyone elses. Customer service is key!!!!! It is in my oponion that overcharging their customers is the NORM!!!!!!!!!!!

Both my friend & I found the food to be nothing special. The service was poor. Not once did anyone come over to see if everything was okay or to refill my friends water. (Its not like the waitress was swamped with customers -- there were only two tables.) Another downside is the restaurant is cash only. Fortunately, there is an ATM machine in the restaurant, (good thing too as there are no banks in the area) but Im willing to bet theres a service fee for the "privilege."

2 hour wait!! Horrible experience, made a reservation online. Ordered an appetizer and dinner for 2. After 2 hours of waiting on the food, the side pasta (because they were out of potatoes on a Saturday evening) was still floating in the water it was made in. Never coming back, which is a shame because the view was beautiful. Didnt even leave the parking lot before posting this...

Food was fine, nothing spectacular. All had sandwiches reminiscent of mediocre diner food. Nice view of the bridge over a parking lot and boat docks. Inside bathroom was "out of order" so had to use a strange outside bathroom -when we left the out of order sign was gone, we were told "aparently it was just stuck"

This is a nice little restaurant. Set in a boat house marina. I dont know why its called ice house because service staff were warm and friendly. We ate nicely prepared seafood served fresh and delicious. Prices are moderate for the waterfront view and service.

Great dinner options. I liked the service and the atmosphere here as well. The waitress was positive and communicative. They work fast and effectively. I was here with my wife, who also liked the place. Would consider going back here at any time.

A friend in the neighborhood referred us and it exceeded expectations. The food took some time but the taste compensated for that. The staff was also very pleasant. The baked clams and fra diavalo was exceptionally good.

Enjoyed the valentines dinner menu, it was beyond expectations. Beautiful atomosphere and loved the food. The waitress was wonderful and the service was excellent. Looking forward to dinner there again soon.

Worst service ever. Order was completely wrong. Food was nothing that I couldnt have done at home. Overcharged for no reason. I wouldnt recommend this place to even my enemy.

I was overcharged for the Tuna Melt sandwich. Thay changed me $1.50 for the cheese that was supposed to be there already. Didnt tell me it was extra. Not a good experience

Ice House Cafe offers a great selection of chef specials that are truly delicious. Wait times on the weekends can be a little long but worth it!
