My wife and I lived in Europe for a few years and have been fortunate enough to have gone to Naples, Italy a few times (the birthplace of pizza) and had pizza there. This is the best pizza we have had since being back in the US. It is authentic neapolitan pizza. If your mind set is NY style "American" pizza, then this might not be the place for you. This hidden gem off Ditmars Blvd in Astoria surprised us with how good it really was. We had the Arancini to start and shared two pizzas (the Bufula and the Vegetarian). They use top shelf ingredients like bufula mozzarella, organic italian tomato sauce and very fresh veggies. The pizza comes fresh and piping hot, right out of the wood burning oven (from Naples). You have to eat the pizza right away before it cools and loses some of its integrity to really appreciate how good it is. The crust is light and airy...just like in Naples! After we finished our meal, we spoke with the owner and you could hear his passion for great, authentic neapolitan pizza. The wine list is very good and they have a well rounded menu. So happy to have discovered this place. This was our first of what will be many visits!

We were here on a snowy Saturday afternoon and the restaurant was not busy at all. I was surprised given the good reviews I found online. The atmosphere is cozy and decor is casual. We started with their Farra Salad, which has arugula, goat cheese, pine nuts, raisin drizzled in sweet honey dressing. We also ordered their Arancini balls appetizer which comes in number of 3. It is very very good! The risotto crust is crispy and creamy with warm cheese and sausage inside. The balls comes on a bed of red sauce and I could barely have half of it. For entree, we shared a Prociutto and Arugula pizza. I enjoy the flavor of the combination. The prociutto and arugula is very fresh. The dough however seems too drenched by the red sauce. Overall, it is a very flavorful pizza but the crust needs to be able to hold the sauce and topping. We got their Nutella pizza for dessert and this is a winner. The crust here is crispy and chewy and they give you tons of nutella and confection sugar powder on that. We will love to return to try other pizza!

Ive spent a lot of time in Italy- my family is Italian. I will agree that the style of food is pretty authentic. But the value isnt there. What you get for your money, just isnt worth it. My husband and I went one evening to have a light dinner because we werent very hungry and it was still over $50. We ate everything and didnt leave full. Not that I have to be full every time I eat- but my point is- with ALL the options you have in and around NYC, this place should not make it on your list of go-tos. And they have a sign saying they were rated as one of the best "Cheap Eats for 2013"- I highly disagree. I can tell you plenty of places that ARE- and this is certainly NOT one of them.

Pizza Pizza!!! Wonderful ways to kick out the week, having a couple of glasses fill with wine and some good Italian pizza. Napoletana is a tiny, but nice and cozy spot with great atmosphere that is locate in Astoria. Jando opened the door at 6:00 PM, giving the welcome the elites, and scanning their party pass. After doing this, he was sending us directly to the bar to get a glass of wine. Few minutes later the staffs attack us with couple of trace full of: Warm Farro Salad, Mini meatball sliders, and different type of pizza. All food was delicious. Staff was very friendly, and did a great work serving food and brings some drinks from the bar.

Wonderful pizza shop primarily but it acts as a wine bar as well. Nice match between the two with a decent wine selection. The decor is simple but what stands out is the large pizza oven in the back. The pizza proprietor here really forms great pizzas. Highlights are the meatball sliders. Juicy and flavorful with veal and beef. The fried zucchini fries with a great sauce. Crisp and salty. The cappellini cakes. Crisp topped cheese with a pasta like filling. Pizza highlights were the white brie pizza and the spicey honey pancetta pizza. Crisp and soft crust from the wood fired oven. Great service and a great place for a pizza night.

I used to work around this pizzeria in Astoria but never had a chance to go until now. When you first walk in, you smell the wood burning, cheese melting, it makes you want to eat pizza right away. They have a pretty decent selections of pizza dishes or specialty dishes. My girlfriends been here before so she recommended me the Gnocchi. The pizza only took about 10-15 minutes until we received ours. The pizza looked so good to eat that the color of the cheese was vibrant and wasnt too saucy. The pie is so thin and crispy it felt like eating a thin cracker with a smoked woody taste and warm melted cheese on top.

I found this place OK but of no value. $52 (with tip) for a pitcher or sangria and a pizza just isnt what Im about. The menu is very hard to order from since most Americans cannot pronounce much of it. Service was very good and they are very nice. There was NOBODY in this place when we walked in but I attributed it being a hot day and sunday at 1:30. I have not seen anyone in this place ever though. I suspect they will be closed by Christmas. They took forever to open so the place was really built up with anticipation. I can see why Albas was not teribly concerned.

Came here on a Sunday for lunch and it wasnt crowded. They have the oven out in the main space so you can see them make your pizza fresh. We ordered the Farro Salad (goat cheese, arugula, olives, rasins etc), Arancini Balls (good size, 3) and for pizza we got the Proiutto E Arugula (Baby Arugula, Prosciutto Di Parma, Parmigiano Reggiano shavings. All were pretty good. To top it off we got a Nutella Pizza...cant go wrong there! One of the better pizza places around Astoria!

Great place and an open kitchen where you can see where they cook the pizza. The pizzas here have a very thin crust so if youre in to flavor and not into crust this is a place definitely worth checking out. The environment is very dark and it is on purpose to give sort of a "artisanal" feel. I feel somewhat uncomfortable in the darkness but this is up to the customers preference. The staff is nice but not engaging.

Just got delivery and was extremely disappointed. Pizza was room temperature, cheese was hard because it was no longer hot. There was so much cheese I dont even know how you can call that a margherita pizza. Hardly any sauce and half of the pizza was crust. I usually order from here and its decent but this time just completely awful. Will not order from here again.

Great tasting food, service is very good, got 2 plates of pasta, a pie of sausage and tomato pizza which tasted amazing (definitely the sauce they use) and 2 glasses of wine and 2 sides for under $100, great value been here twice!! Will recommend

I went here for pizza - which was ok - but also got judgment and poor service. The owner needs to learn to treat all people restpectfully regardless of gender identity, presentation, or sexuality. I definitely will not be back.
