I left Asia star wishing I hadnt made that wrong turn into the parking lot and had gotten some local pizza instead. That being said, the reataurant does have a strange appeal. As a modernized mashup of most East Asian cultures food Asia Star Cafe still attempts to retain its foods cultural heritage. Upon walking in, it appears as though the decor of the cafe is heavily influenced by a particular eastern culture of which I am uncertain (probably Chinese). The wait staff were outstanding to say the least. It was fairly awkward at first however, when I walked in and was asked my phone number to start off. The majority of the food was a bit overcooked and I feel that this is almost to be expected by a restaurant of this type. In addition to this, the prices seemed to vary wildly.

Overall it was nice enough. The food was presented well, but lacked flavor. The crispy Orange Flavored Beef was not crispy at all. The General Tsos Chicken wasnt spicy and the pieces of chicken werent crispy. Plus they tasted doughy. Everything was a bit salty, but still lacked flavor. The rice was dried out and not tender. The only plus is our 6yo daughter ate her entire cucumber roll and bowl of miso soup. However, she wouldnt really eat the chicken from the crispy noodle dish or the beef from the Orange Flavored Beef. If the price point was lower, I would give one more star. In the end I expected a little better food for my $70.

Trying to find a decent Chinese in Neptune area and gave this place a try. The restaurant looks beautiful but the taste in the food definitely was lacking. The beef with broccoli was bland no flavor whatsoever, not to mention its pricier than other spots. Definitely dont recommend if you want flavor in your dish

Very friendly efficient service. Very attentive. The sesame chicken was cooked to perfection.. and was comfortably steaming hot throughout the entire meal. Loved the decor and the mural on the ceiling. Highly recommended :)

It is certainly not a cafe. It is a beautifully decorated restaurant. The staff members are pleasant and patient. I ordered General Tso Tofu. It wasnt very spicy but delicious nonetheless. I will dine there again!

Went here on a whim and didnt know what to expect. Everything exceeding expectations and left very satisfied. Definitely try the Red Phoenix Roll. Miso soup with a great size and the hot green tea was good as well

Excellent food, good portions (not too big or too little), restaurant is very clean and the service was friendly/attentive. Ordered every course from app to dessert and they were all delicious.

I would have given this place four or five stars, had it not been for the TV. I dont know why a fine restaurant thinks we need a TV playing! The TV ruined the experience for me and my date.

I like to go for the Singapore Mei fun every time. Make sure to ask for it extra spicy and a sauce of Hoisoin sauce. Love this place. Clean and a nice size. The Sushi is also very good here

Staff is very friendly and the menu has lots of vegan options. Im a big fan of the veg dumplings and the mushroom tempura roll. Seriously, more places need a mushroom tempura roll!
