One thing is for sure, this place is not worth the drive if youre not a local. The wait to get seated was warning enough that this was going to be a lousy experience. But hey, maybe the wait was because the food was so outstanding right? WRONG! Overpriced seafood with nothing too great to choose from on the menu. The food was truly mediocre. And the waiter was a pretentious dbag. However, I will say this...the owner of On the Deck owns another joint called Off the Hook (I know the name similarity is kind of cheesy), but its an awesome place! Food and service are outstanding! Ive had a number of items off the menu and quite thoroughly enjoyed all of them each time I visited . Try eating at Off the Hook for half the effort and price.

Ate there today 6/3/17. Terrible food. Terrible service. Mussel appetizer in garlic white wine - it was like Mussels swimming in butter. What is allegedly a "chefs special" Broiled Pank Crusted Grouper was undercooked with a glob of bread crumbs on top then made mushy by what seemed like another two sticks of butter. Tried to order vegetables with it to be a little healthy and they were swimming in the butter as well. I wont go into the service but it was not up to par. Stay away there are far better options in the area.

The buffalo shrimp was delicious, BUT my waitress took the plate away while I was only half done with it. It wasnt a busy night either. She decided I was finished when I had wanted to take the rest home! Paid full price for half of my meal to be taken away prematurely! When I said something, she didnt acknowledge it but didnt mind looking for a tip. Otherwise I liked it, but wont be returning because of that.

Worst lunch ever! 47 dollars n the waitress didnt even asked if everything was OK or if I would like to take my less then half eaten food to go?!!! Jus took it n threw it out. 41116 2:10pm. Gave my husband a dry chicken sandwich n he asked for lettus n tomatoes. Waitress was in la-la land. Never ever again!! Waitress short chubby white girl with black shoulder length hair. Jus came in from smoking.

Nothing like eating on the water. If you love the water, then things is the place to be. Views of the bay, boats, and nyc. Food is good, nothing spectacular, but the atmosphere is what makes this place. Easy outdoors, dont bother with inside, unless is Its raining. Basic bar food. But you will not be disappointed. Especially if you like being by the water.

What a pleasant surprise to find that the case here is different, with a variety of choices, all excellently prepared with fresh ingredients. Very casual ... thats not to say its not good. Its fabulous! Great Food, Great Beer selection, Reasonable prices, On the Water, Accepts coupons (for the savvy couponer that can located a Groupon or other coupon) highly recommended. Many local frequent this place - why not, its great!

Went in a party of four. Had nachos, stuffed mushrooms, oysters on the half shell, Manhattan clam chowder, crab cakes, decked out pasta, quesadillas, and Guinness ribeye steak sandwich. Everything was fantastic!! Good view and great service! A must visit if you are in the area.

Great views and amazing food for a place that is so kid friendly. We recently moved to the area from Hoboken and have been on the lookout for non chain restaurants which in Middletown are almost non-existent. Have to venture much further since I always want to come back here.

The view is definitely what makes this place. I dont think youll find another restaurant with outdoor seating that has an ocean view like this one anywhere within 30-40 miles. Pictures of sangria. And decent but not super great food, but with a view like this who cares.

Great views, lousy food. Ordered a chicken sandwich that was $8 and if you wanted anything other than chicken or bread(lettuce, tomato, cheese) you had to pay extra. The plate came garnished with pickles. ..one already had a bite taken out of it.

Im from North West Jersey, looked on the internet for a place for lunch, near Sandy Hook. Im glad I choose On the Deck Restaurant. The food was good,service was great, and the view is breath taking. I cant wait to visit again.

Amazing food! Nice atmosphere, enjoyed eating outside by the water. The fish was very fresh and the best Jumbo Lump Crab Cake Sandwich! I cant wait to go back to have that sandwich again! Super friendly staff as well!

We love coming here when we are in the area. The view is really nice, lots of windows. The atmosphere is casual and comfortable. The food is always good. We have returned here many times and will continue to do so.

Cool place good atmospjere. If your outside do not get the older male bartender he is a complete jerk and obviously unhappy with his job every time we come here. Other than that food and everything else is good

Tell you that tables cannot be reserved, then dont allow you to change tables because "theyre reserved". Get your story straight, and train your staff in customer service. Avoid.
