Practically perfect in every way. This place seems so unassuming, maybe a little rundown, just a little place next to the railroad tracks on the sort-of-weird side of town. Wed read that it was the best Mexican food in the area, though, so my boyfriend & I went there for lunch one cold weekend day. The interior is a bit like the exterior - no frills, no muss, just some Mexican yarn tablecloths & a few sombreros on the wall, two TVs blaring American music videos with Spanish advertisements in between, laminated menus with tons of items to choose from. The chips & salsa came out quickly, a basket of crispy tortilla chips with a spicy red salsa & a milder green one - perfect, because I love spicy & my boyfriend hates it, so we each laid claim to one little bowl & chowed down. At our server Juans suggestion, I ordered Camarones Al Ajillo, jumbo shrimp sauteed with Old Bay, garlic, lime & cilantro atop a salad & with a side of rice, beans, & tortillas to turn them into tacos (which I did). Also at Juans suggestion (he said it was his favorite), my boyfriend ordered the Burrito Texano, a massive affair smothered in melted cheese & a chipotle sauce. One bite in, I declared, "This is some of the best food Ive ever had in my life." I would eat that dish every day if I could, I swear to you. Fresh, light, SO flavorful. My boyfriend loved his, too, though it left him considerably less comfortable post-meal, as his dish was a lot bigger than mine; I felt comfortably full, no need to eat anything else for awhile, but I definitely didnt feel disgusting. And our server! To use a very grandmotherly word, he was just delightful. He was really helpful, really friendly, immediately spotted that it might be our first time there & asked if he could help us at all. He gave us a few kinds of suggestions - his favorites AND customer favorites, four or five in all. And obviously, the suggestions worked out great for us, as we took two of them & loved both. I cant wait to go back to Senor Peppers. This place is magical.

Worst Food Ever I hesitate to call this food Mexican because I don’t want to insult to good Mexican people of planet earth. Let’s start with the unfriendly waitress who plopped down the salsa and VERY stale chips on our table. She knew very little about the items on the menu and appeared to be bored and even annoyed when asked a question or if service was required of her. We ordered the Cheese Enchilada & Chile Relleno platter along with an order of Chicken Tacos Mexicanos. When the food arrived it looked disgusting and was cold. Being troopers we decided to give it a try, hoping for the best. The mole’ sauce that covered the enchiladas and chile relleno was so horrible we scraped it off and asked the waitress to bring us the red sauce instead. I swear the red sauce was Delmonte from the can, sooo bland! The chile relleno was basically old string cheese dipped in batter and deep fried, THERE WAS NO CHILE PEPPER!!! The enchilada was basically the same, old cheese rolled in dough and served cold. The Tacos Mexicano consisted of four small round tortillas each topped with a teaspoon each of diced chicken, onion and tomato. The diced chicken was cold, hard and without any flavor. I swear they just defrosted processed chicken and never bothered to heat it up. After sampling each item we asked for the check and left the rest. We told our waitress it was the worst meal we had ever had and she seemed unfazed by our comment. When we pointed out there was no chile pepper in the chile rellenos her response was “It dosen’t come with chile pepper only cheese”.This place was so pathetic I had to laugh, but I still felt compelled to warn others not to waste their time or money.

My husband and I dined at Señor Peppers tonight, for the first time. We were craving Mexican food, and we made our decision to visit this restaurant based on the Google reviews we read. Juan greeted us promptly, and said we could sit wherever we liked. Juan was also our server, and he was fantastic; he was very polite, friendly, and courteous. The restaurant is right across from the Red Bank train station (so convenient), and it feels warm and welcoming with its typical Mexican ambience. We had Guac & Chips to start, which was delicious, and we ordered the Alambre Mixto and the Camarones Norteños for entrées. We enjoyed both dishes very much- left nothing on our plates. I had an Horchata for my beverage, and I will have to go back for it- it was terrific. The restaurant has a Jukebox for music, and the His and Hers bathrooms were warm and clean. At the end of our meal, Juan let us know that they have begun to offer delivery service, and that we may also call ahead for take-out.. and offered us a menu to take with us. We enjoyed our experience, and will definitely return.

This restaurant is incredible. The authentic Mexican food is superb, the portions nicely and even overly sized and the prices are very low. Ive had the shrimp with bay seasoning which is fantastic and enchiladas, my daughter goes for their burritos. Service is always wonderful and friendly. Whomever wrote that bad review must be the competition!

Im not sure what place Laura b was at but señor peppers is true authentic Mexican cuisine. Ok i will admit it is a mom and pop place and if your expecting to get your butt kissed by the good people who work there go elsewhere. If it is outstanding mexican fare that you seek this is your place!! Oh yea, BYOB.

The salsa they bring it was great, 2 kinds. Had the Texano burrito - pork meat was great, added the salsa to the burrito. The waiter was funny and did a great job. I would come back to this place if I came back to town, from Iowa. Had a large piña,tasted great. The wife had a fried chimichanga.

This is the best Mexican food you can get. When they say authentic, they mean authentic. No bullshit in that. Everything is made fresh & to order. And Im pretty sure that this place is family owned. Very friendly staff. We come here at least 3 times a year & look forward to it every time.

I constantly go to Sr. Peppers. I bring everyone i know there. The food is incredible, really big portions, and very very affordable. The service isnt always the best but its a small restaurant so you can always get what you want. I love it there, I might even go tomorrow.

This is without a question the best Mexican food in the area. It is real, and great quality. It is not the "American " version. It is real, and I loved every bite. A must go place.
