1st I want to say that I DO NOT work here, nor do I know anyone that does, I, nor any family member , or friend is affiliated with this restaurant. So this review is completely honest of mine and my moms experience....On Friday 2/12/16 I purchased a $15 off of $30 or more, for $6, to use on 2/13/16. THEN I had wished I read the reviews BEFORE buying it. Most reviews of the place were awful, just awful. From the atmosphere, to the staff, to the food. (as you all can see) I was not going to go after seeing the reviews, BUT just coming in from out of town, (late) the night being so cold, the restaurant being in the same hotel we were staying at, and my mom and I being so hungry, we decided to go with convenience. BOY were we glad we did.. we were HAPPY with the WHOLE experience. From the time we stepped into the place, our most used word was "WOW". Wow over the ambiance, wow over how clean and beautiful the decor was, wow about the way the waiters were dressed and were attentive and quick, and then the food came. WOW!!!!!!!! I had the ceasar salad and my mom had the shrimp meal. I LOVE salad and this wasnt a disappointment at all. My mother who is a very picky eater (her husband is a professional chef) could not stop complimenting her shrimp dish. She LOVED it and is still talking about it! I have to say, it was the best shrimp I have ever had myself, and I can cook up some darn good shrimp scampi. The place is a very quiet relaxing atmosphere, (even considering the fact that every table was taken) Everyone seemed friendly and gave a smile, a table next to ours actually ordered the same thing we did, after we recommended it, when we saw them peeking over at how good ours looked and smelled, and they also said it was really good! The Price was $48, reasonable and well worth it. I hope I get the chance to be in this area again, because I will def. be eating at Maizes again!

If I could give Maize ZERO stars for customer service I would. Used to love the place but will never ever go back. Trust me and dont even THINK of making a reservation at Maize on a night when there is a NJ PAC performance! I made a 6:00 reservation a week in advance of seeing a show and then even confirmed it the day of the performance, which began at 7:30 just to ensure we would have enough time. When my party walked into the restaurant at 5:55 we were ignored for a full 4-5 minutes and then when who I assume was the maitre d walked over he immediately started scowling at me and saying we were late and he just gave our table to another party because we were 15 minutes late and thats how long they will hold a reservation!!! He then points to his computer where my name and the time 5:45 is listed. I thought he was kidding until he kept saying that he had to go with what was "in the system." When I pointed out that I had called the restaurant earlier that afternoon to confirm my reservation (and I was pretty sure I spoke with HIM on the phone) he just kept scowling and saying he had to go with his "system." I was trying to be as nice and polite as I could because I have been to Maize before and really enjoyed it and want to support Downtown Newark restaurants AND I was facing down a 7:30 curtain with my husband and two hungry good friends. But my husband then totally lost his cool and pointed out that the restaurant clearly DID NOT wait 15 minutes for us and also didnt call us to ask where we were (I had left a phone number when I first made the reservation) and we wouldnt ever be giving them our money again. I highly recommend you avoid this place like the plague--especially if you need to make a show at the NJ PAC :-(

Fri 16th Oct 2015, o went into Maize before NJPAC show only to experience discrimination at its finest! I was alone,1 Attractive black female 2-3. The Hostess was cordial not friendly, who gave me a menu for three course meal!!!!! This was at 6:50pm I wasnt waited on til 7. The waiter saw me when I was seated and began waiting on a couple that was seated after me.! I asked the hostess about is this the only menu she said yes for tonight ! Later during the evening she placed a older white woman near me whom had reservations regarding the menu and she apologeticly asked the woman "would you like to see the regular menu?"" What!! Was she referring to the menu outside the door for everyone to see?! Now I finally get my JUMBO crab cake actually was half of half crab cake w greens ! 7:30 now and I wait ,wait, ask hostess to get my check, while my waiter accommodate two separate tables after o made eye contact with him that I was finished . Wasnt that busy , yet again maybe so while you hustle ripping people off mandatory 3course meal before a show !!! And go to sleep?! Why! Something should be done about this!

This is an attractive old restaurant hanging on in the center of Newark, and the city desperately needs a place like this. They have a nice little bar which is very affordable during happy hour. The restaurant serves an attractively presented dinner. We ordered the duck, which was quite good, served with green and orange puréed side dishes which were probably spinach and squash but I’m not sure. Both were overloaded with butter and spices. Service was outstanding. All in all, we had a good dinner, but not much actual food and it was more expensive than we had been planning.

This is a nice place to stop by for dinner before a show at NJPAC. The location is perfect as it is in the Robert Treat Hotel, right across the street from the theater. This worked out perfectly as we were out with two ladies that have difficulty walking. They have a pre-show fixed priced menu that includes appetizer, dinner, and dessert that is reasonably priced. You need reservations. It has a relaxing atmosphere with interesting items on the menu. The waiter was friendly and made us feel welcome and not hurried.

This restaurant is horrible!! The manager and servers are horrible! I ordered a drink and received terrible service and they still charged us. They dont card and accused my friend of being underage and pointed in her face and yelled, "Im not serving you!" I tried to call the manager over and he stated he doesnt care and call someone else. Believe me, it is not worth it, the Spanish Inn is an excellent place. Stay clear of this establishment for youre own good.

STEPHANIE VOLUGARIS IS NO LONGER THE OWNER OF THIS RESTAURANT. SHAME ON BEST WESTERN FOR UTILIZING THE PRIOR OWNERS NAME AND ACOLADES TO SERVE THEIR PURPOSE. WHILE THE DECOR REMAINS SIMILAR TO THE PREVIOUS OWNER THE FOOD DEFINATELY IS NOT. HOWEVER, IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A GREAT MEAL LOOK FOR THE NEW OWNERS OF BRANCH BROOK MANOR, IN BELLEVILLE, NJ. IT WILL BE A WELCOMED SURPRISE FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO USE TO FREQUENT MAIZES EVERY THURSDAY WHILE AT THE PAC.

几年前开始就很喜欢丽都酒店。它坐落于三角地,地理位置优越,干净,简洁,舒适,加上乐于助人的员工更是提高了酒店的性价比。房间和基本设施的改善进一步提高了酒店的吸引力。
