I enjoy the handrolls there. Most sushi places are not cheap and this is no exception. They also offer brown rice which costs extra. They offer a good lunch combination box special for $10.95 ( soup, green salad, rice, a roll of some sort, another appetizer, and three types of teriyaki. Also beef negimaki, but dont get that. It is very dry and hard to swallow. Lots of choices under special roll. All Japanese staff and usually more than one sushi chef. Very courteous and have yet to have a problem. They do have a sushi bar if you would like to dine alone. The cuts of sushi can sometimes vary depending on who is behind the sushi bar. Better than the Asian Japanese place across the way.

This place used to be really good, but in recent months the quality has fallen off a bit. They did a renovation and expansion, and they added flat screen TVs in the dining room. Everywhere you sit, you can see it. Its supposed to be a sushi restaurant, not a sports bar. Plus, they dont even play sports, they run the local news. Last time I was there trying to enjoy dinner with the family, right in my line of sight is a big screen TV showing non-stop graphic coverage of the most recent terrorist attack. Asked the waitress to turn it off, she says I should just trade seats with someone, totally non-accommodating.

Visiting from out of state and decided to give this place a try. I can say we were not disappointed! Some of the freshest sushi weve ever eaten. Everything was excellent from the appetizer to dessert. We ordered the rock shrimp tempura, 2 special rolls, lo mien, and ice cream tempura (with green tea mochi). There were tons of authentic Japanese cuisine to choose from, not just exclusively sushi. Be sure to order the moshi for dessert. Simply divine! Its located in a small strip mall, but dont let appearances fool you. Youll walk away satisfied. Why are you still reading this!? Just go!

Ive eaten here numerous times and am an experienced sushi/sashimi diner. Their rolls are excellent but for the sashimi lover, the fish is likely one of the best in the Monmouth / Ocean area. Ive tried quite a few places throughout and this is on the top of my list. Excellent sushi/sashimi and the pricing is good, too! Highly recommended. P.S. Who gives this place 3 stars and says its one of the best in the area? 3 stars = ITS OKAY. Umm...it blows OK out of the water. P.P.S. Dont be lured by that knockoff new place on the corner. IZU is where you want to go!

Best sushi restaurant i have been to and I have visited a lot all around NJ and other parts of the united states best prices best food and best service. This place does not disappoint at all. I just ate there for lunch and i want to go back for dinner! I went alone today and the staff came and had a conversation with me they gave me a free appetizer and just overall friendly. The most redeeming quality of this place has to be is that they for the most part recognize their repeat customers and treat them very nicely.

The sushi is usually very good. Ive never been a fan of the service and Ive visited many times. Ask 3 people a question, get 3 answers. Ask a manager thinking hell know, server refuses to come back to table and manager winds up serving me, albeit rudely. I got the sense, maybe cuz they were watching me and laughing, that I should leave. No napkins, no lemon, may not go back unless brought back. I tip well for good service, Ill go across the street where my business is wanted.

Tried this place for the first time yesterday after reading the positive reviews.. in my opinion the sushi was average, definitely not the best Ive had in the area. It was good, but like another reviewer said the rolls were coming apart and were not packed tightly enough. Maybe it was a fluke (no pun intended) but I will probably stick to Ginza in Ocean as my go-to place.

My friend and I came here and we ordered 4 rolls between the both of us. Its also BYOB which I love. The staff was very polite, the atmosphere was very relaxing, and the rolls were absolutely AMAZING! My new favorite roll is their Angry Bird roll. I wish all places served this roll. We just ate there a few nights ago and Im craving it already lol

It was dirty. It had a screen door. There were flies. Sorry, but if a sushi place is not clean, its not good. Its also in a cheesy strip mall with tired colors and styrofoam ceilings. Fish had greyish tinge, lots of strange rolls, siracha mayo on most of them, flowers on some. Not great, and not even very good, sushi.

This is my favorite restaurant of all time. Maybe it is sentimental at this point, but the food is truly amazing. The first time i went I did not expect it to be that good, because it is behind a 7-11. But woah it is amazing! The staff and owner are always wonderful, and the atmosphere is lovely. :)

Delicious food and quality sushi. Bigger portions for the prices Im used to at my local sushi places. Service is attentive, but not as loud (speaking) as Im used to so gotta really pay attention. Not that its overly loud there. Id definitely come back again when Im in the area.

Izu Sushi is the best!! I find myself here once a week, as the prices are fair and the sushi, sashimi, apps, and Thai food are top notch! The customer service is wonderful and the owner is very accommodating and professional! You wont be disappointed!

Great sushi, especially the specialty rolls. I give Izu a 4-star since the rolls arent always tightly wrapped and when you order for pick up, add on another 15 minutes to wait. they can be backed up. but best in Long Branch for sure.

Great Sushi!! When you dine in they treat you so well. They give u soup, salad and then whatever you ordered. Once youre done eating they give you an orange along with the check. I go here often and I always enjoy it .

9 out of every 10 times you are here, its a great time one time its less than stellar, but the 9 good experiences makes this place worth going back to over and over again. Great plates, and tasty fish!
