Please do yourselves a favor and listen to every negative review on this page because none of them are wrong and none of them are exaggerating. There are usually one or two servers max for hundreds of people. Severely over seated and understaffed. Last time we waited an hour for our check, which had food on it that we never received, AFTER being informed we never received it. We never saw the server after ordering the first time either; we needed to go back to the front desk, and we did not blame the server as it was not his fault it is just him for all of these people. Tonight, we had our orders taken at 10:45 and left at 12:15. During this time, we never received our food, had no water refills, and saw the server three times. The third time he pops by, he claims the food should be out soon with no apology, and comes back 4 minutes later, understandably disgruntled, with our CHECK but NO FOOD, leaving it on our table and walking away. Who does that?? From 10:45 to 12:15, we watched at least 2 tables be seated AFTER US, order, eat, pay, and leave, while we sat up and walked out hungry, tired of waiting. Nobody should wait anywhere for their food for close to two hours. I used to love Inkwell; now I would be surprised if I ever found myself there again. Such a shame. The 5 star reviewers have to be coming at the right time, or are paid/family and friends of the owners.

I used to love going to this place but the last two times I went were enough to make me not want to go back. Both times we were sat and then ignored. Both times it took at least 30 minutes to even have someone come to our table. I dont mind waiting for my food when its busy. I understand that the kitchen is busy, so that isnt my complaint. Our server never even came to check on us the entire time we were there. We were honestly about to just leave cash on the table because we couldnt find him to get our check. We ended up being stuck there for almost 2 hours and a good hour and a half of that was spent being just sitting there being ignored. Im not the sort of person who likes to leave negative reviews. But the last time we went was so bad that I dont think I will ever go back. Its such a shame because its a cool place and has so much potential. If it was just the one time I would be more forgiving. I get that mistakes happen. But two times in a row is enough for me. Sorry, Inkwell. It was fun while it lasted.

I used to love this place, but honestly it has since become an inexcusable disappointment. I had gone there for years, and the service was always slow, but I had always seen that as part of the charm of the place. The servers were always extremely nice, cool and apologetic. We were there the other night, however, for an half hour before our server even showed up to the table. Even though we immediately put our order in, we never got our food after an hour and a half of waiting. As we were leaving we were told that the order hadnt even been started yet. Truly frustrating, because as much as I want to go to this place for the atmosphere and the people, I cant justify it anymore.

This place has an excellent atmosphere... while people refer to it as, "hippie" they should actually refer to it as relaxing, more than anything. Very nice to be able to sit at the outdoor patio (season/weather permitting). While the service can be slow once in a while they are normally good. Food: Sandwiches are ordinarily okay, snack foods/fried foods are good, and the desserts are very good. The coffee is great!! Been told the hot cocoa as well. Highly recommend this place if you like relaxation or need to clear your mind, want a low key spot to take your significant other or a friend, or... well hell, just want to get out of the house for a great cup of coffee!!

If youre into hipsters and people who are much too full of themselves, then this is the place for you. The place constantly plays modern hippie music that only appeals to a certain crowd. The food here is mediocre at best and much too over priced, however since most of the people in here are probably stoned out of their mind, they probably think it tastes amazing. But it doesnt. A lot of the appetizers taste frozen and fried, the sandwiches are nothing special. However, if youre going for the coffee, yes, it is very good. All the desserts and coffee contraptions are great. But the staff is arrogant, as well as most of the customers.

The music is played pretty loudly inside the restaurant after approximately 8pm, so dont expect a quiet sit-down dinner because you will have yell for people to hear you; if you go when they first open or sit outside, the music will not be as loud. The servers dont have a specific uniform and wear whatever they want, so it can get confusing. The restaurant is inside what used to be a house, so there are two floors of indoor seating, one outdoor seating area on what would be the driveway, and one seating area on the deck. With that said, the food is always really good, and the drinks varieties are plentiful and delicious.

the only good thing here is the coffee and desserts, everything else is terrible. its always busy and the waiters are FLOODED to the point they dont remember where each other goes correctly or even forgets the order. we sat in the front once and it took 20 mins for us to realize we werent gonna get our waiter to come to us so we had to sit on the side of outside and finally got to order, took another half hour for it to come and my big mistake was ordering a sandwich that took ANOTHER 30 mins to come after my dessert. like everyone else, your best option is coming here plastered so you dont notice the terrible staff

Used to come here all the time with friends last year. Now they updated the place alittle and change in staff and went completely down hill. The staff is extremely rude and seem like dont care about their job nor the guests. Recently everytime weve taken our 30 mins drive just for our Dutch coffee the person seating people states it should only be 15 mins... Well 45 mins later and the guy still hasnt seated us. Its a shame because this is an great chill spot with a unique atmosphere.

This place is great; SOMETIMES. Some of the wait staff is cool, some is eh. Everyone goes for the Dutch Coffee, the heart attack coffee, but it wasnt THAT amazing when I ordered it. The Inkacinos are really good though, and the warm apple pie with ice cream is awesomeeee. The iced mocha is amazing too! They barely give you any dip and chips, but the fried mac and cheese is mmmy! They do play some pretty good tunes here and there!

Going to Inkwell is an experience of itself. Its got the beatnik atmosphere that one would expect from a place that is open primarily at night and doesnt rush its patrons out of their seats. The food is typical American college faire, with the signature Dutch Coffee being the highlight of any trip to the Inkwell. The servers are amazingly attentive and exceptionally friendly. Its a nice hidden gem on the shore.
