taken from my Yelp page: My parents ordered a whole roast pig for Christmas as we had friends and family coming over for Christmas dinner. They had arranged for a suckling pig to be cooked on the 25th (yes they were open). The price was $190 for a 25 lb lechon. I went there at 4 pm, Christmas day to pick it up, and the price suddenly went up to $225 for the roast pig (and then there was also tax of course). The excuse for the increase in price was because my parents order was "UPGRADED" to a younger pig, supposedly more tender than your regular suckling pig. (As if there are ADULT pigs that weigh between 27-30 lbs, our upgraded pig was called "lechon de leche" as if i didnt know.... suckling pigs drink milk....really guys?). Having the need to come home with a roast pig as it was our centerpiece for the dinner, I went ahead and paid the extra 20% increase in price because it was CHRISTMAS DAY and no one else was open. The rest of the family arrived, and immediately asked us where we got the pig. After going through their own personal stories of similar price gouging by Barbeque Pit, I wish my parents knew before hand. My other relatives live in Dumont and Bergenfield so they used to go there too. Oh, and the pig was underdone. It started bleeding in the brown cardboard box (it was not a clear liquid, so yes, it was partially raw) that they use as a liner/transport, so we had to make arrangements to make the pork safe to eat once home. Its Christmas day and we made the best of what we could, but they lost patrons today. Yes, I am writing this right before Christmas dinner because it was not the experience I was expecting from fellow "kababayans" on this special day. ~be prepared for the extra 3% surcharge as well for using the SQUARE app if youre using a credit card.

Dont get a roast pig for your holiday meals here. They always take more orders than they can fulfill. Consequently, theyre always going to be late with some of their orders. Additionally, theyre going to try to increase the quoted price once you arrive. This Thanksgiving, we ordered a 120lb pig for pickup at noon for a dinner scheduled for 2 oclock. One of our sons who lives in Jersey, arrived on time and was told that it would take another hour. The owner told him that one of his workers didnt show up. (We were given this excuse twice before when our pig wasnt ready as promised.) When 2 oclock came and went, they told him that it still wasnt finished and would take longer. My wife, now furious and with a houseful of dinner guests and no main course to serve, called Barbecue Pit but they just left her on hold after they realized who she was. She then called my son who was still waiting and had him insist that they speak with her. After substantial arguing, they finally agreed to give her someone elses pig but were demanding that we pay an extra hundred dollars since it was stuffed with lemon grass that we didnt order. You can imagine how this went over. When my son arrived home with the pig, we discovered that it wasnt fully cooked. It was still bloody inside. Totally ruined our holiday dinner. We couldnt serve undercooked pork to our guests.

One of the best BBQ places Ive gone to in Jersey. TO BE CLEAR, the BBQ here is not what you would find in a traditional Southern style barbecue place, but rather its filipino style BBQ and cuisine. The BBQ ribs are awesome. I always get them whenever I go there (which is often). Theyre served grilled and tender, almost falling off the bone. Also good choices are the sinigang baboy, dinuguon, and sisig. A co-workers parents always go there when they need a whole roasted pig (lechon) for parties. They like this place so much that they drive about an hour from their home to pick it up!! Its always cooked to perfection. Im not sure what happened to the other commenter on here but Im sure that their experience was the exception and not the norm.

Im filipino, and Ive always maintained that it is tough to find filipino restaurants nor is it even possible to make filipino food that is going to be liked by everyone especially here in America. Im glad that Ive been proven sooo wrong. It tasted so good that my Japanese wife and in-laws devoured the entire take-out I brought home. The sisig was to die for, my mother-in-law wiped the aluminum container clean. Anyway, small parking lot is in the rear and the prices are affordable. Good job guys! Keep it up!

Small restaurant with not a lot of seating but the sisig is out of this world!!! The sauce that accompanies it adds an extra layer of flavor on your palate. I wouldnt dine in but a great takeout spot. Great price on your dinner. Paid less than $10 for each meal.

I just had the BBQ last night with my family. We tried almost everything on the menu. Chicken, Ribs, Pork, veggies. All was delicious. Some of the best BBQ I have ever tried. The Interior is a fun, cafeteria style eat in, or take out. Highly recommended.
