Made an 8:00 reservation for Valentines Day (which was the time recommended by the host) only to have to wait around in a cold ugly tent outside with my fiance for 45 minutes for our table. When we arrived, the host initially told us it would be a 25 minute wait, however we waited outside freezing for over 45 minutes. I would have left and went somewhere else, however I didnt want to risk not getting a table elsewhere. When we were finally seated, the waitress blamed our wait on the length of time people were sitting and conversing at their tables after they were done with their meals. I understand that you cant just ask a customer to leave so they can free a table, however dont drastically overbook on whats supposed to be a special night. The food was pretty good Ill be honest, but instead of some sort of apology or refund, they actually ended up overcharging us for our dinner. Regardless of the food being pretty good, I will never return. Go to Kleins right down the street if you want good food AND service.

Went to there for diner last night. Made reservations for 8pm. Showed up at 10 minutes to 8:00 and waited patiently at the little bar area. We opened our bottle of wine...and waited some more. And waited....and waited. We watched two other couples come in more than 30 minutes after us...and were seated immediately. So we waited some more. We said something to the hostess....and was told they were sorry and must of overlooked us. That was shocking since we were the only ones waiting. We were seated 1 1/2 hours AFTER our reservations. Werent offered an appetizer, bread, or even a drink while we waited. Come to mention it, not even an apology was offered until we were seated. The real shock came with our meal. The food is TRULY overrated. Not bad mind you .... but not worth the $140 priced tag attached. Not to mention being treated like a second class citizen prior. I have let every friend of mine know NOT to eat there...and they just lost my business for sure.

The food was honestly pretty good (although a bit on the salty side), but quite expensive for what it is. The main issue I have is with the service. Ive been there twice and each time the staff is running around, stressing, dropping glasses/plates, etc. Many of them are young, which is to be expected in a summer town like Belmar. I suspect the real issue is with the owner himself, who puts himself out there as customer facing. He himself seems to be the most stressed, and tries to micromanage the whole operation a bit too much. I feel like if he was able to relax and let go a bit, it would resonate with his staff and they wouldnt have to absorb so much of his tense energy. In any case, I wish this restaurant all the best. I just wont be eating here again.

Although the food was great, I would not recommend this place. Being unfamiliar with where to go in Belmar after leaving a class down the street, we stumbled on this place between 8:30 & 9 on a Sunday evening. The rather arrogant host greeted us by asking if we had a reservation. There were 2 dueces (tables of 2) in the entire restaurant!! He took us to a table, and rattled off information really quickly, with no pleasantries. The servers were very pleasant, but all dealings with the host were very cold. The restaurant is pretty, although ridiculously dark, especially with a very small print menu. The food was great, but very highly priced for where it is & what you got. I wouldnt go back.

First time there tonite. Nice atmosphere, good food, high prices. Between the three of us we had the lazy lobster, Thai shrimp, escargot, filet mignon, creme brulee, and white chocolate souffle. Although the food was good and the service attentive, this is still a fairly high-priced place for being in a strip mall in Belmar, NJ. Its BYO and the bill still came to $150. Will probably not go back as it wasnt that special. We brought a coupon (not to be cheap but we had one) and werent able to use it since one of us ordered a prix fixe meal although the other two of us ordered straight off the menu. Check with your server first if youre looking for any discounts.

Amazing food! Crab Cakes had a subtle smokey flavor. Tuna Tartare with avocado had wonderful textures. Thai Shrimp with forbidden rice had a perfect mixture of pineapple, coconut and ginger. Brussels Sprouts with pomegranate molasses were crisp, light and sweet. Bread Pudding and Crem Brule were perfectly prepared with fantastic flavor. Pork Loin special was just ok -- It was well prepared, but it was just pork. Next time Ill go for the sous–vide Lamb Chops. This place is expensive so be prepared. BYOB.

We have dined in this fine restaurant many times from their opening to the present time, in the restaurant and many parties catered by Chris Brandl. Not only is the food exceptional and innovative but as fresh as the Jersey Shore can get. We normally do not review restaurants but with this one we have made an exception. We always know the food will be wonderful. An added bonus for us is the BYOB offered. Inside or out on the patio, summer or winter, a real treat for the eye and the palate.

Both the crab balls and the lazy lobster were very good. The service was cold, so cold that you dont have to chill your wine before you come, just have the wait staff look at your bottle. In addition, it took one hour between appys and entrées. In summary: the food is very good, but the restaurant is too expensive for the portion size and the service is not warm at all. You get the feeling that they dont appreciate your business.

Maitre d asked for our last name, implying that we needed reservations, then, when we did not have reservations, stuck us outside at a table. We read the menu, and although we thought it was limited, it sounded tasty to me. Nothing appealed to my wife, and the prices were a bit too high, so we left before ordering food. Perhaps we can try it again when it is not so busy and pretentious.

My wife and I went there last Friday night. We ordered a fish special, swordfish. Very small portion and tough as leather, this stuff must have been frozen for a long time. The 2 side orders were good. I have had decent meals here in the past but this one was not good. Hello Chris Brandle I dare say you wouldnt have eaten that for that price. Wake up or people wont be back.

We had a big party of 14 and the food and service were still kept to a high standard. I had the filet mignon and it was delicious. Cooked to the ordered temperature. Costco offers a $100 gift card for $70 and its BYO making this place a great option in the area.

Superb food. Wish wed found this place sooner! We will definitely go back again and recommend it to friends. They cooked the filet mignon just the way we wanted it, and the cut was nice and tender. We also had the lazy lobster and they cooked that perfectly, too.
