Welcome to Memphis Pigout: Dissapointing quality food for through-the-roof prices. Lets break this down: -FOOD: Fairly upsetting. $20 for a few bites of soggy pork with a side of soggy fries or soggy cole slaw. Dont worry, there are other menu options. $30 for a couple of ribs with more cartilage than meat. Or, you could pay $20 for catfish breaded in sandy stuff. Or you could have the soggy pork on a Walmart bun. Lets talk about the "salad bar." Walmart lettuce, soggy croutons, and bread that tasted like it came from the shoprite bakery. Come on. -SERVICE: Although somewhat friendly throughout my visit, the waitress did grumble and complain about her coworkers and how she was the only one doing any work. She also never came back to check on us or refill our water during our stay. -FACILITY: The building was wierd. As I walked in, I looked to my left and saw a full-sized skeleton dummy sitting in a chair. There were no windows. At all. The roof was painted black, giving the place a strange feel. Perhaps the strangest part of the building was the decoration. There was a fully decorated Christmas tree in each room, despite the fact that I visited in mid-october. Bizarre. The bathroom had an old urinal that seemed to be from the 70s. The bathroom floor way sticky. -CONCLUSION: I really appreciate the spirit of the place. It is a friendly local restaurant. However, the food was completely overpriced and wasnt too superb. The service was not great and the building was a bit strange. Again, the biggest dissapointment of the restaurant was the pricing of the food. Way too high.

Talk about places you may miss if you dont keep your eyes peeled. The Small yet loaded with character Memphis Pig Out is just that a quaint BBQ restaurant. From the pig pictures or cartoon drawing of pigs on the walls to the deep history of the building itself (i suggest you look it up) Memphis pig out does not just look like a BBQ place the food they serve you says it all. From the fall of the bone ribs to the amazing BBQ chared chicken. Memphis is the most BBQ place you will this close to the shore! Staff is always so nice and welcoming when you first arrive and you may even catch the Owner/Chef come out and great you and make sure you are filled and satisfied. Full of History,Character and great food Memphis Pig Out is a place youll do just that "Pig Out"

Place was dirty, the gnats flying around the "salad bar" were the highlight. The "salad bar" consisted of the waitress opening a bag of packaged lettuce into a bowl and a small selection of gnat covered add-ons. You had a choice of dressings... just pour them out of the bottle they were purchased in. Bread was not fresh. Ribs were barely edible, think NJ roadside dinner ribs, covered in too much BBQ sauce. Only option for a "side" is deep fried french fries. Cost was over $45/person and we had 3 ribs each. Owner also pulled a classic Bait & Switch scam -- provided coupons in local advertisement, then refused to accept the coupon. Signs also indicate no Restaurant com gift cards are accepted although his business is marketed through their website.

hadnt been to memphis pig out in awhile. Unfortunately it has gone downhill. So there were only two or three tables with people in them,We were a party of three adult males.Had ribs which were warm as if sitting around for awhile in a warmer.I use to really enjoy the ribs when it was one of few barbecue places around. Now fortunately much better choices in the area. waitress spent most of time chatting so didnt take drink orders as was not around. Then they sat a large party with a crying kid right next to our table.I never ran a restaurant but when there are lots of available seating ,I wouldnt put a large party with kids next to a adult table that was having a conversation.

I went in to have dinner there last week and the place has really gone down hill the food is horrible and the service isnt much better. The owner closes whenever he wants and doesnt stay open till 10pm as it states on his website and he has this poor young girl that he has working there who has a sling on her arm and only has the use of one arm and they have her picking up heavy dishes and I think its ridiculous because she obviously should not be working while she is injured and they have her washing dishes with one arm. This restaurant used to be much better but its the last time I will waste my money there.

tonight was the very first time we were dissapointed with a zagat rated restaurant. the food was a disaster (both baby back and spare ribs came out dry and burned, the pulled pork tasted like it had been boiled, the baked beans tasted like they came out of a campbell can, the salad was brown on all edges), we waited for over 35 minutes for our food, and it costed us usd 70 with no appetizer and no desert. when asked what made the memphis style ribs different than the st.-louis, they had no clue. add to this they dont even accept credit or check cards, only cash or checks. overall a mostly dis

I cannot say enough about how DELICIOUS THE FOOD IS HERE!!!! Ive lived in Monmouth County my entire life and FINALLY went in here the other day and was completely floored. The owner, Connie, is the sweetest woman from Memphis, and she told me all about how she uses her grandmother & mothers Memphis Regional-style recipes in her cooking. There is a reason why they have been in business for 30 years--- UNREAL. My husband could not stop eating the ribs and we both agree they are the best we have ever had in our lives. The sangria is AWESOME, too!! DEFINITELY stop by and "get your rib on!"

Been going here ever since I was a kid and its still awesome. The salad bar is kept fresh and has good quality items. Pulled Pork is a favorite of mine and Ive brought several people here, all of whom agree that this place rocks. Hours are NOT consistent (they close early if its slow) so be sure to call ahead to see what time they intend to close. Besides that, they have a movie deal with the Atlantic Highlands Cinema on certain nights (2 adult entrees = 2 free movie tickets), prompt service and a decor that will make you get up/walk around to see all the pig-parafernalia.

I dont know why Memphis Pig Out is getting bad reviews. Just came back from there and really enjoyed it. If you are used to the typical, crappy, highway chains, then this place is not for you. Its got lots of character and the service was very sweet and homey. The baby back ribs platter was killer! All meals come with a nice, little salad bar too, something you dont see a lot anymore. Prices were what they should be, not cheap, but not outrageous. The strawberry pie was a must have. Will definitely be going back.

"Down the Shore" Fantastic food, WONDERFUL salad bar that has lots of veggies other places dont. Fabulous ribs and chicken. Cant speak for the rest of the menu because I always want the ribs. Prompt service and very intertaining & homey atmosphere with piggy stuff everywhere. We really enjoy it, really super food.
