Modern day snake oil sales man!!! Maybe its me, but I doubt it because the three people sitting next to me agreed with me, there wasnt any crab in the crab meat, spinach and cheddar omelette! They really did, everybody! Im not making it up. I couldnt if I tried!! I had three days of terrible room service breakfast food at the Water Club in AC when I googled, breakfast restaurants near me. First on the list in several searches was, you guessed it, Gilcrest. Pictures of their food looked so good that I left my business associates at the WC/Borgata and went in search of a place what could serve good food!!! So I went there. When I was seated and the waitress came for my order, she said that their "crab meat, spinach and cheddar omelette" was popular and she recommended it. I saw good comments on this web site about it so I went along and said ok. When the food came it looked very good. However I didnt smell any crab meat. So ok, I cut into the omelette and saw some spinach, tiny bit of cheddar cheese, and NO CRAB MEAT!! At all. I looked under the few pieces of spinach and the tiny bit of cheddar cheese, but no crab meat was to be found in the omelette anywhere. So to make sure I wasnt crazy, I asked the girl next to me if she could see any crab in the omelette. She said she heard me order the crab meat omelette and when the waitress put it on the table she didnt smell any crab meat at all. (She was sitting close at the long table up behind). So she and her boyfriend and their friend all looked at me omelette which I had opened up with my knife and fork. None of them could find even one piece of crab meat in the omelette!! So I knew I wasnt crazy! When the waitress finally came back to see how I was doing, I told her I was very disappointed that there was no crab meat in the crab meat omelette! And I showed her and the three other people next to me said they didnt see any crab meat either. So the waitress asks if I want something else and I say, no, you had your chance and I just want the check and leave. She brings the check and says that she took 20% off the bill. I said, oh no, I didnt eat the omelette and therefore Im not going to pay for it but Im happy to pay for the coffee, toast and orange juice that I did have. She then says that she has to go speak to the owner. So now Im sitting there, didnt eat anything, waiting for more bs with the owner. Not what I went to this place for! 20 minutes go by. No waitress even came by to ask if I wanted more coffee. Now Im a pariah! Too bad! Here she comes, the owner. Heavy set middle aged white lady (Im white, so all you pc clowns chill) and she says she took 20% off the bill! I said, thats what the waitress said 20 minutes ago and I expected to discuss it with you. She said she sells hundreds of her crab meat omelette every day with no complaints, and that it must be me. I said that the fact she sells hundreds of these omelette every day has nothing to do with the omelette she served to me, and why was she bringing it up. I told her that there was no crab meat in the crab meat omelette and I didnt eat it so therefore I didnt feel obligated to pay for it. She then said that they purée crab meat in the food processor and mix a small amount in with the egg mixture when making the omelette!!!!!! So there is NO crab meat in the crab meat omelette!! Straight from the horses mouth!! I then complimented her on a magnificent scam, and that she is the descendant of turn of the century snake oil salesmen! She didnt like that. I left $10 for the cup of coffee and piece of toast I ate and went elsewhere for a quality restaurant experience. Can you say, Captains Inn, Forked River?

Well I am Slightly Disappointed in the Food taste and Price! I like coming to AC not for Play but to experience Food and new Places. Me and My girlfriend Always Like looking for Breakfast Spots. I looked over Reviews before heading here. Service was Nice I give it 4 Stars but Food Tastes not so Well and Price we Paid Was Quite High and Thought It would be cheap as it says in a few reviews. I ordered the Italian Omelet which comes with Homefries and Toast. My Girlfriend Ordered the Hungry Man Meal which is 2 Eggs any style, homefries, a side of Bacon and chocolate Chip Pancakes. My Omelet and Homefries tasted so plain the I needed way extra salt for taste. The italian omelette sausage tasted like rubber. The Homefries needed seasoning. Her food was ok but Bacon tasted left over for lots of hours and home fries as well. We both also ordered Coffee and it was "Sock filtered Watered Down". Also 2 Orange Juice. The Order became to over $31 Dollars Plus Tip. Usual Places I order the same and Be way less under $25. I felt we overpaid for Tasteless food. We will most likely not come back here again. Good Luck This is not a good place for someone who likes Tasteful Food.

I have been here for breakfast quite a few times. I always get blueberry pancake and eggs. They are known for their blueberry pancakes and it is NOT hard to taste why! Yesterday we had a memorial service for my grandmother, she passed on Jan 2nd, but we waited until her bday, June 30th. Gilchrist in AC stayed open, past their 2pm closing time, until 6 to serve our family! They offered us a choice of 4 items. My son got the delish, baked chicken. It was topped with this yummy, creamy sauce. I got the crab cakes. I never had anything but breakfast and the crab cakes were AMAZING. I am always hesitant to order them because you never know if they are going to be all filler. Not the Case. If you or looking for meaty, only meat and small seasoning, crab cakes, NO filler, you found it at Gilchrist!!!! Awesome. Best crab cakes..meaty meaty meaty. So good I ordered a platter to go for my husband. 2 crab cakes, potatos, and a mix of green veggies (delish, not just boring broccoli or carrots, veggies were great!) For $16. Awesome. Worth it!

Great breakfast and great atmosphere on the outside covered deck that sits right on the water. A real Atlantic City gem. No matter what you get to eat, order at least one pancake to try. They are excellent pancakes; traditional and thick but not too heavy. Just perfect everytime . Get there early on the weekends to avoid a long wait. Even the long wait always seems to go quick. If you are there after 11:00am and there is a log wait then I suggest walking over to Scales to grab a bloody mary or mimosa. That will certainly make the time go by. Gilchrist allows well behaved dogs on the deck. There is not a ton of room so larger dogs will be cramped during peak times.

My friend and I came here before heading home from Atlantic City for the weekend. I ordered the blueberry pancakes, eggs and bacon. The pancakes were good but not mouthwatering ooh the best Ive ever had. I mean I did eat them all with my other items on my plate and was truly full when I finished. We had some difficulty finding the place and it wasnt too crowded when we were there. However, I could definitely see this place being packed during the summer. The staff were real sweet and I would check this spot out again when Im in the A.C. area.
