Let me start out by saying that I lived in Japan for 9 years, and I can say without a doubt this is good authentic Japanese food. That being said I was truly disappointed by my dinner at Watanabe. The server never asked for a drink order and never once refilled our water. They only have two options for kids and neither one was plain for my picky eaters, which might have made my experience better. I felt that the portion sizes were small for the amount that we paid. Lastly, the restaurant was very authentic, so the meal is served with chopsticks, not silverware. The dishes are brought out one at a time not all at once like American restaurants. And UNLIKE Japanese restaurants where tipping is discouraged tip was included for our party of 6 which I wouldnt have left such a hefty tip.

Excellent authentic Japanese food at a reasonable price. Their Bento Box is delicious, filling, and priced perfectly at around $5. Their sushi is very good, though not on the same level as "Daves Sushi" (which is outstanding), but their prices are lower and they focus more on family dining at prices families can afford. I also know a few of their employees and they treat guests (customers) and employees like family. This is a great place to eat whether you are a resident of Bozeman or if you are just passing through. Easy to find, but parking can be a headache, especially during school hours. Try them for dinner or, if you are heading east into downtown, then parking for lunch is a bit easier. Arigato.

Weve tried Daves Sushi, Seven Sushi, and Watanabe as new arrivals to Bozeman. Out of the 3, Watanabe has been the best, by far. Authentic cuisine. The Miso Soup isnt too salty (as found at other locations). The cooked dishes are excellent and the rolls seem to be made with care and not simply flung together. They base their dishes off of true Japanese food and not "designer rolls". The staff seem to be quite friendly and willing to talk if the pace is slow, but get a little frazzled when busy. I would say support this local business as your favourite sushi place in town...I will be.

Watanabe is truly some kind of bizarre miracle. A authentic Japanese restaurant in the middle of Bozeman alone would be worth a look. Imagine my surprise when I found out not only was their food authentic, but that it wouldnt devastate my wallet! I highly recommend it. Their Ramen and Udon are great. Dont let the quiet look of the restaurant fool you, if youre truly craving Japanese food in Bozeman, they are the only place to go.

The service was pretty quick and friendly. You could tell the food was served fresh and handmade and very authentic. It was simple but very delicious and filling. I did feel a few things were a little over priced but that wont stop me from going back for some yummy authentic scrumptious food. Nothing fancy in the actual restaurant part but the ambience was calm and quiet. Go check it out if your looking for amazing Jap food.

I have lived in Bozeman my whole life and can honestly say this is one of our best places in town. It is quiet, but not so quiet that it creeps you out! The food is great, and the prices are reasonable for a Bozeman restaurant. Also, the people who work there are always friendly and helpful, but not intrusive. If you try it here and like it, also try Dave’s Sushi. Best Sushi restaurant in town!

Great lunch service - arrived 1pm for late lunch on Saturday and initially the only guests there. Waitress was attentive and helpful. Good was tasty, done well, and arrived quickly. Seems more authentic - only given chopsticks initially but regular silverware available on request. Does not serve sushi until dinner hours though (the only negative for me).

Very good Japanese food. The proprietor formerly ran a restaurant in Kumamoto,, and his experience there is probably why what he serves here is so good. Nofhing Ive ever ordered was in any way unsatisfactory. I recommend the place! If Id been to Japan, maybe Id think of something the menu lacks, but I havent. I eat there as often as I can.

For our first wedding aniversary, I took my wife here. We had a great time with the chef, who was an excellent cook and kept us entertained the entire time. Tried the sushi it was excellent. Had shrimp and steak and the shrimp was some of the best I ever had, my wife and I both enjoyed it and it was very memorable.aaaaahhh and thats all

Watanabe is the only true honest authentic Japanese restaurant in Bozeman. The owner, Ted, is a great guy! He and his staff do a great job at cooking the best Japanese food Ive ever had, and I have been to Japan! You will definitely not be disappointed here-

Ate there for the first time last weekend and wanted to go back the next day! The food was amazing and extremely reasonably priced. Our waitress was great, funny and polite and the service is insanely fast. Definitely one of my new go to spots.

Best Japanese cuisine in Bozeman. Everything is fresh and very delicious. I had my duaghter of 4 even eat the shrimp tampura and she hates any type of sea food based meal but she absolutely loved it! They have a loyal customer.

We drove all the way from Helena just to eat here! It did not disappoint. I have lived in Japan, and the service and care that went into the preparation of the dishes reminded me of being there. Well worth the 2 hour drive!

Sushi is fresh, I particularly like the shrimp tempura roll. I have never had anything but the best experience there. The atmosphere is simple, but the food is the main attraction. Highly recommended.

THE BEST JAPANESE IN TOWN. Also the most affordable. I usually go for the Crunchy and California Roll or the Yakatori Bowl. No changes to the menu but still amazing, authentic Japanese and great service!

The sushi was the best in Bozeman Ive had! The Ginger Chicken over rice had a lot lacking and we could have used waaay more sauce. They were, sadly, out of ramen noodles, the reason we went.

My favorite sushi in town. Feels more like the little sushi joints on the coast - more low key, better food. No upscale feel or fancy decor here. Just tasty, tasty food and a quiet atmosphere.

This is were I go when I want delicious homemade Japanese food. One of the few places in Bozeman that I would label as comfort food. The owners and staff are friendly and helpful.

Really happy I finally gave this restaurant a try... despite the large table of ten in front of us, our food came out hot, fresh, and quick! Will return often! Thanks Watanabe!

We went to this restaurant before going to Yellowstone. All dishes are very tasty and real Japanese taste. If I can come to Bozeman again, Id like to here again.
