Haruno was once a place to get amazing sushi - not anymore. We ate there on a precious date night, and will never go back. Our service was HORRIBLE. We waited 30 minutes to be seated, even though we could see open tables. Once we were seated, it took another 10 minutes for our server to acknowledge our presence - then an HOUR to get our food. None of this would have been so bad if the sushi was great. It was mediocre at best. Messy rolls, obviously done in a hurry. Our hot rolls were cold and soggy (ew) and ALL of the rolls had less volume than they once did. Worse, a fishy smell was coming from the spicy tuna roll - obviously not fresh. Our server treated us as an afterthought the entire time - but considering Haruno was not that busy when we were there, I am wondering who WAS so important? Had this night been an isolated incident, I could let it go. Unfortunately, this was the last straw in a succession of increasingly sub-par visits to Haruno. Im sad, it used to be our favorite.

I took my mother here and was pleasantly surprised. Although the more normal makizushi were "okay" -- not great, but definitely not bad -- their more specialty rolls were great. We tried the jalapeno roll (an accident in ordering) and the ichiban, which were both good -- not great, but they were okay. The Incredible and the Spicy Boom Boom (a new one) were absolutely amazing. They looked beautiful in presentation and they tasted GREAT. Granted, theyre twice as much, but they are over twice as flavorful as far as Im concerned!! :) The lighting was a bit dim for my mother, but we sat at the sushi bar and enjoyed it immensely. The fact that they are Korean is a bonus for us, as we are Korean ourselves. We also had great service and will definitely be coming here again. Were not local, so we may try a few other places just to find the perfect place for a 2-hour drive from home, but thats only if I decide on a different sort of flavor. Love it!

The food is excellent, but I will never come back to this restaurant because the service is so terrible. The employees are very rude and always seem to prefer talking in the back with each other rather than serve the clientele. Ive waited 20+ minutes before someone even came to get a drink order. There hasnt been a single time where Ive had prompt or attentive service here. Today was the third time Ive gotten up and left the restaurant due to poor service and wait time. There were only three other patrons in the building, so there is no excuse for the extremely slow service. There are many other sushi places with better service, and I will spend my money elsewhere.

Ive been to Haruno dozens of times and I have never had to wait more than 10min for a table or had poor service, so I take these anonymous bad reviews with a grain of salt. Or more like a salt lick. And the current rating of 22 is a joke. Which Wich sandwich shop has a 26. Harunos food is outstanding. Theres something for everyone, whether you want hardcore traditional sushi and sashimi, the latest fancy rolls or entrees like tempura, lobster and steak. Springfield has an embarrassment of quality Asian restaurants. People can argue all day whether Haruno or Mijuri has the best sushi. I couldnt disagree with either. Just try them.

I ordered 2 sushi rolls to go the Jurasic Park and the Philly Roll. The manager thought it took to long and tried to refund my money for my wait but I refused they were very busy and polite. (Their HOSPILITALITY was awesome while I was waiting). Anyway i left shortly after 10:30 pm (waited about 35-45 min for my order) and drove home to Bolivar to dine with my wife. Just have to say WELL WORTH THE WAIT!!! Im returning next weekend with my children to treat them. I Honestly have to say that it was the BEST sushi I have ever eaten cant wait to try other rolls....... Defiantly a new long term customer........Larry G.

I was very dissatisfied leaving this restaurant. I have been going to Nakatos for years and loved it so I decided to try out Harunos expecting great things too. When arriving at the restaurant I noticed how disgusting the carpet was and I hate seeing that in a place I expect to be sanitary. When the chef came out and we got our noodles, I didnt eat them all. They were just spaghetti noodles in underwhelming sauce. The rest of the food unfortunately was the same quality. I will never be returning and highly recommend not going here. Instead try Nakatos. Same atmosphere except clean and delicious.

Overall a fun place. Sushi is good and fresh and the appetizers are fun. Now for the picky part. Cons: decor could use an update, and the service was a bit slow. Went early on a Tuesday night and it took a long time to get our dinners. This is fairly typical whenever Ive been there in the last year. Pros: definitely a hip crowd, good for parties or date night. Drinks are creative and they have a decent selection of sake. Sushi has always tasted fresh, udon is a big hit. They have gluten free soy sauce and some naturally gf dishes like the chirashi. Yes, Id go again.

Ive eaten at Haruno dozens of times and have yet to experience even the slightest of inconveniences. The sushi is easily the best in springfield, and the sashimi is literally to die for. If you have even a half a brain, then youll at least give it a try. The servers are courteous, comical, professional, knowledgeable, and all in all more than capable of providing a high end dining experience. One server, in particular, has impressed me on multiple occasions, whether he was serving me or not. Give it a shot. Ask for Cody. You will not be disappointed.

I brought my Daughter here for her Birthday, there were 8 of us. The service was TERRIBLE it took literally 2 hours to get our food!! Waitress did not clear dirty dishes from the table nor did she refill waters. Any drinks that were ordered were at least a 30 minute wait. After 3 hours of waiting I approached the Manager to bring this to his attention, his customer service was no better! Big, Big disappointment, and guess what they add 18% gratuity to your bill so you are forced to pay for crappy service!!! Furious, i will never go back!

The calamari was not cooked correctly. Was really chewy took about 5 min to eat one piece. They have their beer brands and type mixed up on the menu. The also ran out of veer that we ordered and the server said she was going to bring the drink menu by. After waiting and waiting she came back by and asked a girl at the table if she wanted something to drink and grabbed her a beer menu. Sooo, i had to get the menu from her since the server forgot about me. Over priced for the food and service. No thanks.

Haruno is the best sushi joint in the area, bar none. Everything is served fresh and delicious, and the presentation itself is a spectacle to behold. Some of my favorites include the Yummy Roll (incredibly well-named), the Futomaki Roll (fresh as fresh), the Spicy Boom Boom Roll (not quite as spicy as the name might suggest, but entirely deserving of both "booms"), and the Sesame Mozarrella Asparagus Tempura (a sumptuous appetizer worthy of full entree status).
