Do you like terrible service, rude staff, and terrible drinks?! Try the Library Bar. Do you like your drinks overpriced and watered down? Talk to a Library Bar "bartender." These "skilled representatives" when asked if they can make a whiskey sour the bartender replied, "well I can mix anything with soda." I have been to this bar a lot over the past three years because it is close to where I live. It doesnt matter whether its your first time or youre a regular customer, dont expect service from the staff unless youre hot. Also, if safety is your issue dont worry!! Theyve got a great bouncer staff. They do an excellent job of checking your ID, but are the last to interject when you get in a fight (Ive been in three at this bar). Ultimately, this bar is a frat house minus the cool guys, the philanthropy, and the decent parties. Theyve still got the bigotry and condescending attitude of those who go to the U. The bartenders and bouncers act like the bad guys in teen movies, and the waitresses are treated more like strippers then waitresses. If you want something youre best bet is to bring it from home, as otherwise youll be waiting a good 35 minutes for your drink. If you want to get drunk around here go to Blarneys, B. Loco, or even the Kit Kat Club. In fact, Id rather buy a six pack from Dinkytown Spirits and risk drinking on the streets, then drunk in this horendous bar. AVOID THIS BAR AT ALL COST!!!!!!!

I would not return. We went for March Madness, the service was horrible. There were at least 80 people upstairs and only one staff. She charged my meal on someone elses credit card, then double charged my card. It took on average 30 minutes to get a drink. People that came while we were still waiting would get their drinks before us. I will stick to my staple Burrito Loco. The service is far better, the food is better, and the drink specials are better. Wont be heading back unless my friends force me.

I went on a Friday night. It was awful. Not only was it packed (I know, its a Friday in Mpls) but its not the number of people that ruined my night, it was they TYPE of people in there that made it awful. Packed shoulder to shoulder with douche frat boys and half naked way-to-drunk-to-be-served women flinging themselves at anything that moved. The music was ok. The drinks are really good, I had one of the best Long Island Ice Teas I have ever had at The Library. But other than the drinks, I will not be back.

DO NOT GO HERE. The bartenders will add tip to your bill without you knowing! I tipped in cash and the bartender still thought she could add tip to my credit card. UNPROFESSIONAL! The drinks she made were also terrible. Edit: After speaking with a manager, I was told it was store policy to add tip to credit/debit card charges to "make sure the guest has enough funds to buy the drinks." Rational but shady practices.

My daughter went to this bar last night only to have her Illinois drivers license taken away as a fake ID, she just left Chicago renewing it, So parents Please beware! This bar Took what should have been a wonderful time for my Daughter and her friends and turned it into a nightmare, The Doorboys do get a commission on fake IDs so they dont care if their fake or not,,,,,They had to call police to get it back.

This is your quintessential college sports bar. No frills, some spills, and very little studying goes on at this library, though at least you can tell your parents where you are and they wont get suspicious (though the DJ and loud yelling in the background MAY tip you off). If you dont like drunk college kids and crowded bars this might not be the place for you, but overall a fun place

Worst service I have ever had! Brandi was our waitress (if you could even call her that) and the manager didnt care at all when I told him we were leaving because we just sat with drinks for over an hour wanting to order food not to mention I wasnt drinking alcohol and had to ask for a water 3 times that I never got! We will never go back

Bartending @ the Library must feel like being a hall monitor in a junior high; as both professions deal w/arrogant young people going through a phase of temporary insanity. Get there early and prepare yourself for an evening in the company of children. Great tasting food and ridiculous drink specials are the only redeeming qualities.

I is a good place to get a drink and hang out with your friends. The beer prices are quite competitive. BUT be very very careful about card transactions. I was charged $17 for no reason on Friday,3/29/2013. And that too not as a totally different transaction, one for which I was never given a bill and I never signed for it.

Pretty much your run of the mill college bar in Dinkytown. It can get pretty packed in there later on at night which can make it hard to move around. They have a nice large patio that is pretty fun on warmer days. If youre there before it gets packed they have an ok food menu. Bar quality food.

Generic college bar. This means crappy beer selection, pretty cheap prices, tons of college students skewed slightly towards members of the Greek system. Serviceable weekend brunch with enough TVs to ignore any other patrons or even who youre with.

This college bar has excellent dinner and drink deals. On weekends this place serves sports crowds for dinner, and turns into a (very) busy hangout with (very) cheap drink deals at night. The new patio, including cornhole, is awesome in the summer.

Great drink deals every night of the week. Youll be hard pressed to find a cheaper drink anywhere close to the U of M campus. The bar is usually busy, so watch out if youre trying to get 1 drink and leave, because itll take longer than you think.

Best bar around the university. Cheap drafts and cocktails, young vibrant college crowd, awesome bartenders. It lacks a bigger dance floor, probably thats why people go to Blarney later. No idea about food, never ordered.

A friend and i were walking arounda campus and stopped to get lunch, very nice place. you can tell it was recently updated....planning to go back for a few drinks. food was good, not too pricey.

Decent drink specials, the Long Islands are good bang for your buck, but vary in strength a lot depending on the bartender you get. Back patio is spacious with plenty of tables.
