HORRIBLE STAFF!! Yesterday afternoon we went to this place for the second time in a week due to the marvelous dishes we had and after seeing it on Food Networks Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. We decided to take my in-laws due to how good it was...well sadly to say it was embarrassing because the service from our waiter was horrible! When we went last week the service was slow but we kind of let it slide, but this time it worse; I love the comfortable and relaxed atmosphere but our waiter was a little to "chill and relaxed" to be in a place that is filling up on a busy afternoon. When we got there it was starting to get the afternoon rush but not quite, the waiter was having long, unnecessary chats with all his tables while we saw food just sitting on counter to be picked up. I had to inform him that I believed our food was sitting up there and he let us know that dumplings take at least 12-14 mins so it probably was not our food...but guess what, it was!! And then all the waitstaff would walk by the food that was ready to be taken out to tables and walking past tables without grabbing any unused dishes. Where is the TEAM WORK in that?? The camel that brooke the straws back was at the end of our dining when I finally saw the manager (Im assuming) walking around with a fast pace all of a sudden due to a big party they got but the whole hour and half I been there she passed up just as much food and dishes as any one else. I stop her to ask if we could get our ticket and to go boxes because we had seen our waiter for some time and she automatically (like she knew already what to say) stated "well, he just got busy and he did just get a 24 top table so Im pretty sure he wasnt just ignoring you!! But I will get your ticket as soon as I can." WHAT? Did she automatically just take her servers side and not care to see what we the customers concern was? Horrible, thats all I can say. We eat all over this city and for that matter all over the country, we love food, we review and rate what we eat, we saw reviews and ratings on this place, people raved about the food and that it was good but rude waitstaff. This will turn people around at the drop of a hat! I have to say that after yesterdays turn of events I prob would not return! I hope the family that owns this place listens to their customers soon. You can hire me for management and I will turn this place around!

Parking can be a bit tight, but the location is convenient and easy to find. The menu was diverse... Almost too diverse for a place supposedly known for dumplings... The menu was just a bit too "white", pardon the bluntness. First caution flag when we went in... There wasnt one Asian person in the entire joint. Someone please explain what was so Cantonese about the Cantonese Roast Duck... Lived in Hong Kong for years and never seen anything like it... Had it been a delicious re-interpretation of the dish, I could have gotten behind it, but it was a gelatinous mess under a thick sauce. Bland and mushy. In any case, we quickly put that aside because we really came for the dumplings which were hyped up in years past and featured nationally. What a let-down... The dumplings were underwhelming, uninspired and tasted like a veneer for a half-hearted attempt at a traditional Asian favorite. The dumpling skin was too thick and the meat within was tasteless and very forgettable. So, if you have never been to Asia, or at least visited a real Chinese restaurant in New York or LA, you might like their offerings, and the venue was whimsical and charming, to be sure. If you have experienced real Chinese cuisines, Id not recommend Blue Koi. Sorry, we really wanted to like this place but it was too geared towards the uninformed palate.

My expectations of this restaurant as a place to get "chinese comfort food" were definitely fulfilled when we checked it out for a late dinner. We split an appetizer of steamed dumplings, the ants entree, the duck, and another pork entree, all with noodles. The texture of the noodles is divine, Im not sure if they make them in house, but they tasted like it. My favorites of the entrees were the ants (this came with much thinner glass noodles, but had great flavor and texture with the additional stuff on it), and the duck. To be clear, this is NOT the type of Chinese made up of fried chicken pieces smothered in super-strong, overly salted, and gooey sauces you expect from cheap Chinese takeout. There was sauce on the dishes but it was a very mild brown sauce and added just the right amount of flavor; the food tasted fresh. The atmosphere is definitely casual but quiet enough to take a date. I took off one star for the poor beverage selection and the fact that I saw our waiter roll his eyes as we were walking up from outside - not exactly a welcome greeting, but the service was fine.

Found out about Blue Koi from Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives and figured we would try it out. Holy Balls it is amazing!!! Crispy Veggies were awesome! I didnt much care for the orange sauce, but my husband liked it. The green sauce was great and tasted super fresh. Pork fried dumplings were delicious and I NEED their recipe for the dipping sauce. I even dipped my veggies in it. I got the Shanghai Wonton Soup and my husband got the Roast Duck. Both were absolutely delicious and the portions were huge! We came home with leftovers. The soup was in the top 5 wonton soups Ive ever had, and Im a wonton soup snob. Lol. I also got the Lychee Sunrise. Very tasty, but strong if youre a lightweight (like me. Lol). It tasted similar to grapefruit juice, but I loved it! Our server paid attention to us when we needed something or food was ready, but otherwise have us space and was very friendly. We did not see any of the poor service that some others had said in their reviews. We will definitely be back!

My husband and I enjoyed our 15th year anniversary lunch here yesterday. I could rave on this place from their amazing noodles and dumplings to their boba (bubble) tea. For the last 4 years I try boba tea any chance I get. In 4 years so far this place has the BEST boba tea! Definitely will be back. Service was top notch and helpful. If you like a twist on your normal Chinese or love of boba check this wonderful gem out!! A+ (boba was so good I took a picture with it and not my husband of 15 years. ;-) )

I love the spicy chili pepper wontons! Plus they sure have good dumplings too, last night is my first time here, but I definitely had the blast! They came out in a huge portion too, totally worth every penny I spent! I came in with an empty stomach and go out with a happy one! One thing to concern though, I suggest to improve your quality service, that is the reason why i am lacking one star. However, I would to come back and have some more spicy chili pepper wontons!
