Wow! After coming to the area for some work on a vehicle, I stopped in for breakfast after the car was done. Driving up to the building, it is unassuming and does not stand out. The sign is pretty prominent though, so finding it is easy. When you walk in the door, there is a pretty large waiting area with plenty of seating along the wall. The dining area is rows of four top tables. If your party is more than four, they pull tables together to accommodate. Along the outside, there are single rows of booth seating. Five rows across, six to seven rows deep, filling half the building. There is also a bar with tall bar stools for approximately six people. The wait staff work behind the bar getting drinks, etc. The staff was very friendly, and although the place was packed, (we had a five minute wait at 10:45 on a Saturday morning) our food was ready very quickly and was delicious! It was home style cooking at its best. We had breakfast and everything was perfect. I saw others getting lunch/dinner fare, and one was a salad that was piled high and looked great too! Although the feel of the dining room initially was more like a dining area in a nursing home or a multipurpose room in an elementary school, after sitting down and being served with a smile, it definitely doesnt feel like that now that were leaving. It feels like a hometown favorite, where everyone comes to catch up with each other. Im impressed. I never give five star ratings unless I am wowed. They deserved the stars! Do your belly a favor, and go to Main Street Cafe!

When we first walked in there was a couple in line in front of us to be seated. That was not an issue, what was an issue was waiting almost five minutes while the greeter played around with seating arrangements and didnt seat us at an immediately open table. There were six waiters/ waitresses and all of the tables were being serviced, Im not sure what was going on there. The waitress we ended up with spoke barely audible English and we saw her three times throughout the meal. Once to take our order after leaving us for almost fifteen minutes, the second time to drop off food, and the third time to drop off the check. I got the biscuits and gravy and could tell that the biscuits were canned. The gravy tasted like flour and the chunks of sausage in the gravy didnt do anything to help the taste of flour. My girlfriend got the pancakes which were good until she got to the doughy center. When we went to pay, the lady at the register asked how our meal was. When I told her, she laughed at me. This is not a place that I will ever come to again.

Staff is very rude and management does not care about their customers whatsoever, my family and I drove all the way up from Cape Girardeau on Fathers Day because we love that place or we did and since it was Fathers Day that is what my husband wanted, we used to live in Crystal City and that is how we knew about the diner, we walked in at exactly 215 and they refused to serve us immediately before the door even closed and told us that they close at 2:15 yet on here and on their door it says 230, totally unprofessional establishment and then the hostess had the audacity to wish my husband a Happy Fathers Day, as far as Im concern that place is ran by Hoosiers and they do not care about their customers at all, I would recommend eating food behind out of a dumpster before I would recommend going here unless you want to be insulted and mistreated

Stopped for breakfast and was disappointed. I had corned beef hash that wasnt good. Corned beef was a pressed meat that had a liver wurst flavor...I didnt eat it. Thought it might be spoiled? Buttermilk pancake was barely warm and stuck to the plate. Coffee tasted like cigarette smoke....service bad. After asking twice for syrup I had to walk up near kitchen to get it. My husband had one of the skillet breakfasts and thought it was okay. He didnt care for the taste of the coffee either. After we left to get back on I 55 we saw there was a Cracker Barrel. Wish we would have gone there.

Stopped by for dinner. Server was scatter brained. We ordered an appetizer that came out just fine. My bf ordered a chicken sandwich and salad. His food came out just fine. I ordered a burger with swiss, lettuce, and mayo. When it arrived it had the wrong cheese, it happens. Took fifteen minutes to get the server back over, she said she would get it fixed. Waited another fifteen minutes and decided to leave, they finished the "corrected" burger as I went to walk out and offered it to me. It was still wrong. This one was ONLY swiss. No lettuce or mayo. Very frustrating!

This place is a must if you are planning on eating food in Missouri. All of the employees are extremely nice and all of the food is hot and delicious. I usually come to St Louis one week a year and eat here almost every day that week. I will definitely return and suggest that you try.

Can vouch for 3 different dinners at Main Street Cafe. The catfish dinner was phenominal, chopped steak delicious, and the golden fried chicken is over the top! I would say this is the best place to eat in this area!

Homey atomsphere, good service, good food. Depending in the day if the week that you go to Main street Cafe will depend on whether there is a wait to be seated. The Cafe is closed in Mondays.

Go here every time we visit my parents. Prices are really inexpensive, food is decent quality, portions are huge, servers are friendly. Would rather go here than any other chain store.

A hometown place. You could tell there are regulars who received a bit more attention. I only received 1 water refill. Once the food came there was not much from the waitress
