I dont give a 5 star rating easily, but the fried green tomatoes were the best thing Ive ever put in my mouth. Its a funky sort of place, with old time farming equipment on the walls and to tell the truth the exterior looks a bit of a dump. Dont make the mistake I almost made and pass it up. The interior will never be featured in Southern Living, but if there was a jukebox no one played it, which i appreciated. The customers were few--it was Saturday at noon--but they represented a cross section of types, a family with children, a married couple, some laborers, a police officer, a guy who ate at the bar who looked like he could be on championship wrestling . I liked the mixture of people. I got the idea some of the diners were regulars. The Klondyke gets 5 stars for the food!!! The service was reasonably prompt and efficient and courteous without being overly chatty. I cant vouch for the rest of the food, because all I had were the fried green tomatoes, but I plan to go back to try the $10 ribeye steaks! I found the serving of tomatoes all I could eat. Im usually pretty good about pushing away from the table and Ill admit at the halfway point I could have asked for a doggie bag, but I couldnt make myself stop. They were that good--well battered and topped with the most delicious crawfish sauce and a tad of comeback sauce, an invention of our friends down the highway in Jackson. Its like a spiced thousand island, not peppery, just delicious. Huge iced tea that I sipped on all afternoon. Ive lived in Vicksburg 5. years and had visited almost weekly for years before that . I had never heard of the Klondyke, It is Vicksburgs best kept secret. I overheard another customer tell her family the Klondyke really swings on Saturday night. I do plan to find out.

First of all do not be scared away if it looks closed. The front is a store that closes earlier. If the open sign in window is on they are open. Now if you want to eat where the locals eat this is your place! We started with the BEST fried green tomatoes I have ever had. Topped with a such with crayfish tails and mushrooms. Delectable! Then ordered the $10 rib eye. For an extra $1.95 you get a loaded baked potato with it. Now normally I think you get what you pay for but I was more than pleasantly surprised. Excellent steak, cooked and seasoned perfectly. Wow. Service was intensive and the owner came over to check how we liked the food. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a good steak in Vicksburg!

WARNING (Read this review): This was a local recommendation by a B&B housekeeper, that turned out to be the best meal we had in Vicksburg. If you can, go for the steak, fried green tomatoes in Creole cream sauce, and loaded potato skins. Be warned though, this karaoke bar is the ugliest restaurant / convenience store, there is unavoidable smoking, and the menu is going to be limited to what the cook has on hand. Its the definition of a hole in the wall local treasure for the brave adventurer looking to explore real local culture. Our server was very friendly and helped us tremendously with what to order. Will defiantly visit again while in town to participate in their late night karaoke.

We always love to find small obscure "hole in the wall" places to eat when we travel and this place did not at all disappoint. Food was excellent! Lights were dim but a very neat quirky local place. Filled with lots of interesting things to look at from times gone by. Must visit especially if you are looking for a local place off the beaten path. We will be back!

I have eaten here previously but went recently and took a friend for very late lunch. We had the grilled shrimp salad with house dressing! It was delicious! Very pleasant bartender served us! The beer was cold, as usual! It was around 3pm, met the chef and had a good conversation with him and the owner! Will return.

We got there midday and decided on hamburgers and fries for lunch, along with some peach cobbler. Everything was great! My only regret is that we were just passing through town and couldnt stay for dinner and drinks! I also loved the rustic/local atmosphere! Would definitely patronize again!

If you love $10 steaks... This is the place apparently! I had the fried catfish creole and it was great!! Great home town joint if you dont mind cigarette smoke in a dimly lit room. Enjoy!!
