Ive been to countless co-ops and this is by far my favorite. Im actually baffled how cheap their prices are. For instance, you can get a pack of 5 organic chicken sausages frozen for $5, a single serve organic grass-fed yogurt for $1.39, etc. They also have a robust vegan section with very good prices (i.e. A pack of 4 vegan sausages produced from a small family-owned business for $3.60). Good luck finding something comparable for cheaper at Cub Foods. I also love that you can get small portions in their deli. For instance, at Seward Food Co-op, Id have to spend a minimum of ~$5 for a bag of local string cheese when Im craving cheese. At Lakewinds, you can get a tiny bag of string cheese for as little as $1.25 (it came with 3 string cheeses in it) - a bargain for high-quality local string cheese if you ask me at ~$0.40 a piece. I also like their turkey bacon sandwich - you can get a small portion for only ~$3.40 and it fills me up, whereas other grocery stores, I have to spend a minimum of $5-6 for a large sandwich that I cant ever finish all. I like small portions because I dont end up wasting food and throwing it away. I just eat the right portions and always get it fresh.

It hasnt been open very long, but seems to be getting better lately. They have some good sales that happen periodically; Ive taken advantage of their big meat sale and big supplement sale. The produce is usually good. Although, there have been a few times when the garlic and tomatoes were not quite as good as one could hope for. Other times they would have things I wanted and theyd be out. If youre on a budget, its not a one stop shop for all your groceries, beef/deli/bulk seem a tad overpriced compared to other co-ops Ive been to. Nevertheless one can usually make due with the selected sale offerings. The best part about this place is they carry a few special items that I can only find at this location. Its also very convenient being so close to the highway.

A much needed improvement to this neighborhood. Previously abandoned buildings now home to the newest and largest Lakewinds Co-Op. This location is larger and its somewhere between a local Co-Op and the commercial scale of a Whole Foods. Not the pretentious crowds Ive experienced at other Minneapolis Co-Ops. Ample parking and plenty of check-out on a busy Saturday.

I became a member the first day I was there - and have been happy shopping ever since. Lakewind Coop is the only place I can get grass fed Chuck which is perfect for my Beef Bourgignon. I also love their insulating shopping bags with long handles and a zipper closure, perfect for my walker! The store has 5% off the checkout price for seniors every Tuesday,

The sushi could be better! I bought Spicy shrimp rolls and a variety of others. The shrimp was tiny and quite mushy- the Ahi was good quality but the spring rolls could have been better- other than that we like the store-especially the bulk food items. They are a lot of good quality organics to choose from!

I love this co-op. Tons of local food options. Not a lot of choices within item types, but theres probably at least one option for whatever youre looking for. Kind of pricey, but the quality is exceptional! Peace coffee bar in store.

Great bulk section, cheese department, butcher and ready to go foods. In season the price of produce here is better than the big chains. Buy local, buy seasonal!

The newest and I think the biggest Lakewinds store. Nothing wrong with it, but the Chanhassen one just feels nicer.
