Royally disappointed with our first experience. My son and I ordered dinner over the phone for pick-up, and remained unphased by the brusque attitude of the two people whom we spoke to just to place the order. Once one of them managed to write down our simple order; we were asked if we wanted any plasticware, to which we replied, "yes, please." We ordered two ordinary entrees and a side of extra spinach to add to the salad that came with one of the meals (the spinach side was charged and paid for). My son thought their chicken kabob looked good - advertised to come with fries AND rice pilaf, and the usual flat bread, along with a salad (onto which we intended to put the extra spinach). I wanted the battered fish and fries (1/2 order) with coleslaw, and ordered an additional order of beef taquitos - thinking it would scratch the itch of indecision... not to have had a taco salad instead. It was a very sad meal for both of us with missing food from BOTH of the entrees and no extra spinach to boot. Add to that the lack of serviceware (necessary because we were on the road), and it was a fairly disappointing show for the Royal Diner. Incidentally, when an establishments menu touts "Served with rice pilaf, fries and pita bread, garnished with tomatoes and onions ", and you are only provided a choice at ordering rice or fries, and then are not EVEN given your choice.... theres a problem. The person who ultimately took the order argued with me, despite the fact I was looking at their menu as we spoke. We did call the restaurant within half an hour to let them know there were problems and missing food items, but the manager who took my call was abrupt when I couldnt name my server. We didnt have a server, per se, and the girl who took our order never gave her name. Was told to come back the next day for the spinach and fries. She gave not two hoots about the breakdown in understanding the menu v actual food discrepancy, nor was there much in the way of an apology for a very underwhelming experience. My son was a little put out that the person taking payment for our meal suggested strongly that he had "forgotten" to add a tip on the payment. The height of rudeness when youve done nothing well enough to deserve it. By the way: The taquitos ARE NOT WORTH the $6 price tag. Save your money and head to a grocery store; buy an entire box for the same money and heat-n-eat at home! Thats all there were, and they were overheated to burnt. Giving this place one star, but only because I have to give it at least that one star in order to leave the review.

Got the royal special poached eggs hashbrowns dry wheat toast Bacon sausage and Ham. Was expecting to have enough food for left overs. Eggs were way way way over done hashbrowns were way way way undercooked. Toast was black on one side and I could buy better bread for 79 cents at Kroger down the road. Bacon was cooked perfectly but lacked any taste sausage links were obviously frozen and thawed. Coffee was mediocre at beat they leave a Thermos pot at your table so the waitress does not need to return apparently. Atmosphere was good lots of mature adults but i saw tell tables of kids with basketball shorts on so low everyone could see their underwear. will not return sticking with mels l.a. cafe and the big apple. this place used to be rams horn and was incredible then

Happiness, perfection, taste and quality is what defines this local diner. There is always someone smiling to welcome you in here. The menu has an abundance variety of dishes. Breakfast, lunch, dinner come whenever this place is open 24x7 which is amazing. Breakfast is available all the time. Staff is quick to serve you water or drinks. Take your time and enjoy the classic American diner where time stops and people enjoy the small things in life. Food is top notch and quality is huge for the nominal price. Do not miss this hidden gem in Clarkston! Try the nutella stuffed French toast! The only problem with this place is there are so many good things to try and your appetite is super small to eat everything on the menu!

Great food! Terrible service! Werent even greeted when we entered because all of the girls were behind the counter on their cell phones or eating. When someone finally came over she was short and rude. I went with a special needs friend and she was right in the middle of asking about the menu as the waitress just walked away and never came back. We had to go to the counter and tell them wed like to order before we were helped. The second waitress was very kind, but still doesnt excuse the others. We werent told goodbye or thank you for coming either because again the girls behind the counter were on their cell phones. I say again, great food! But bad service! The girls had no hospitality or manners.

Dine here often and have never been disappointed. Big portions and a large menu with plenty of options. Prices are average for the area, but seems you get a little more for your dollar here. Service is good, attentive and friendly. They are open 24 hours as well. Being that the food, service and prices are good this place does get busy at peak hours so take that into consideration. They have great lunch specials and their soups are great, the bowl size is quite large. Nice atmosphere, good place for children also. The burgers their are 10 ounces so if thats youre crave then come hungry.

if your looking for a lot of good food at a reasonable price, then Royal Diner is what your looking for. They have the BEST marinated chicken for Greek salads and greek wraps Ive ever had. They also have this "Pink" house salad dressing that is good on ANYTHING! Asparagus and Swiss Egg White Omlette is awesome and just the friendliness and homey feel of the ladies that serve you are wonderful. The atmosphere is cozy and homey, however, I wish they would get rid of all the clutter at the check out area and inside the lobby!!! TOO MUCH CLUTTER!!

Would of given it 5 stars but the last visit it didnt seem the same? Did they get new owners? We always loved the food but the food wasnt just the same weve come accustomed to, portions were a little smaller, but still good. We have been going there for years and are used to seeing all the same owners there, havent seen them the last couple weeks. update: Same owners, since the "fishermans platter" is what I usually order. It just seemed odd that the portions were smaller. Being seasonal I guess fish arent always the same size?

As a former server, I am appalled at the service that I have received from this particular server. I come to the diner often and never usually have bad service except from Ashtin. She always has time to be on her phone behind the server station or talking to her friends in the booth near the cashier but never time to come check on our food after we received it or to get a refill. By the time I DO get a refill Im already done with my meal. I wont change my review until something is done about her. Absolute horrible service.
