Honestly, the worst food I have ever paid for. How can people be giving this place 4+ stars? It doesnt make sense to me. Like most out of town guests, we quickly checked reviews and decided to try this place before we flew out the next morning. What a mistake! The food was atrocious. From a Taco Salad that featured bagged lettuce with bits of carrot and cabbage, cat food looking "Taco Meat", and about half an inch of grease in the bottom of the bowl. To the "weekend special" stuffed Italian shells smothered in way to much cheese, served with bland sauce from a tin. Even the complimentary bread tasted like it was baked 2 weeks ago, I almost chipped my tooth on it. Seriously, do not go here for food. Its disgusting. Service was OK, but no one asked how our food was... Maybe because they know they are serving absolute garbage?

On Feb.13th my boyfriend and I came to eat at this restaurant for the first time. First of all they were VERY busy but we got in right away. We purchased the fish and chips. They were excellent. We could not believe how big the portions were of the fish and also the largest Tuna Steak I ever had. The food was so hot that our waitress must have gotten it right off the grill. She was very busy but handled everything great. Also we thought the prices were very reasonable ,expecially considering the size of the meals.. One last thing I noticed was your staff look at all the customer and smile at everyone of them, not just their own table. I would highly recommend this place to everyone.

Friendly and knowledgeable bar tender (Mollie) made my experience exceptional. Even though she was noticeably busy, she made sure that I was taken care of at all times. Reasonably priced food and drinks. (The french onion soup is delicious, and I am still wondering as to how it is physically possible that my food came out within 5 mins of me ordering. Wizardry, I tell ya! Wizardry!) My guess is that the negative reviews for this place are from people who think that they are special and deserve tailored catering to their every need. (Its a bar and grill. It is exactly what you expect it to be. Your attitude will be treated with the same amount of respect that you give.)

While in Detroit for our daughters tenth birthday, we stayed at a hotel where I happened to strike up a conversation with a man at the pool. "Neal," was staying there while an air conditioning system was being installed in his home. This gentleman recommended Merrimans Street Grill, said that it was owned and ran by two brothers which happened to be close friends of his. He insisted that we go there for dinner. Jen and I, having never gotten good meal recommendations in the past, were prepared for the same routinely bland meal- (like the buffet at the casino). Merrimans Street Grill is definitely the place to go if you are in Romulus- thats for sure. Thanks Neal!

Ive been here several times during my travels through DTW airport and it is consistently good. Ive read a few negative reviews and it seems to me people come to this place with unrealistic expectations (maybe from travel frustrations?). This place serves great food with friendly staff at a reasonable price. Last night i ordered the club sandwich with steak fries. It was huge and delicious, and I was very satisfied for under $10. They offered double-hopped locally brewed IPA on tap( it was delicious), a bonus for specialty beer fans. Ive been traveling through DTW for many years, and for the price this place is one of the best in the area.

The worst experience Ive ever had, anywhere, and I didnt even eat. Never had the chance. Heck, I wasnt even offered a glass of water. After 12 minutes I walked out. The manager is the one who sat me. He got a glass of water for himself. I watched him enjoy it. He made eye contact with me a few times after that. Even as I walked out he never said a word. Nice! There was one active table with 2 people besides me. A few people at the bar. DO NOT GO HERE. Unreal. So many other great options in the area. This place needs to go away. Its an insult to anyone wanting a meal instead of being a local bar rat.

Absolutely horrible place. Twice Ive been in this place and the owner of this low quality high priced restaurant, has been extremely rude to me and my friends. After the most expensive drinks and food. Combined with the worst waitress in Detroit, her name is Espi. He told us we were not welcome back, because we didnt tip her good enough. I have never been so insulted in my life. After I explained that we tipped her what she was worth. He got in my face and put his finger in my chest, and Espi kicked me. This place needs to be shut down and the owner and his girlfriend waitress, need to be imprisoned.

I went here yesterday on Feb 27, 2016. I wanted something different because I live in the area. I also went here about 9 years ago. It was horrible then and still is horrible! I ordered the Southern BBQ Chicken Sandwich as a carryout. It was so horribly made until I couldnt finish it. I swear the bun was so wet that it felt like they dipped it in water then made the sandwich. No kind of care in making my food. Just slopped it together. The only reason why this place is still open is because of its location by the airport. I will NEVER return here. I rather starve.

Food here is always hot, fresh, and delicious. As well even on the busiest of nights they have your food out right quick. Most choices come with a cup of soup...oh god this soup! Seriously if one of the two options for the days soup is the onion soup dear lord pick the onion! Im here on business at this time so Ive eaten here 3 times already this week. Not only is this food to die for, the wait staff are friendly and are enjoyable conversationalists. I hope work brings me back to Detroit again soon because this is where Ill be eating time and time again!

Just read the previous review. Im not really sure what this guy was smoking. Ive been a patron of Merriman St Grill for over ten years. NEVER had a bad experience. The food is first class. Favorite is Cajun Combo. Jimmy the owner, once he realizes you are a regular he always comps you a beer! Its an excellent neighborhood bar. Everyone is welcome and treated fairly. You will only cheat yourself my not stopping. And for the record, I live in NC. Not even a local, but treated like one.

I have been here twice. I should have learned the first time, with the rueban sandwich. This time I ordered the chicken enchiladas with a salad. The salad had been frozen, which had lost its color and flavor. The refried beans were lukewarm, and the rice was rice pilaf. The chicken in the enchiladas was like a spicy, peppery, paste. I did what I could with it, but I felt sick. Very discouraging to pay for such a meal. Never again!
