went in Nov, just toddler and I, later in evening, food was awesome brought everything out, timed perfect. (but place was dead too) salad (weird looking but awesome dressing), soup, time to enjoy each item hibachi cook was either new or tired, or just trying to hard to be funny not sure, have seen better (to me its part of the experience sitting at the grill, show part wasnt good but wasnt bad, no stars taken away, cause food was cooked well & good and thats what really counts!) Only took a star away because they started cleaning while we were still sitting there, us and another group (6 adults 1 kid), trying to finish desert, and their bleaching the floors, and cleaning the hoods above us. didnt do our floor but at all stations around us, smell was strong, I was thankful when a women at the other party spoke up and asked them to stop cleaning the hood above our grill. (I normally do, but idk didnt want to be "that" person in front of another group). there was still almost 20-30 min till closing time, I understand wanting to clean up and go home, but I like to sit a min and sip my tea, while toddler was eating ice cream, digest a little, before running out. Hoping to go again for Valentines Day, saw a slow day, lets see if just as good for a busy day? OK would MUCH rather have the trying to hard to be funny gut than the absolutely NOTHING guy. Hubby 1st time at a hibachi grill, for $100 dinner for 2 with drinks, and a Mexican roll, tip, kinda expect something? anything? said hello just about it. could see the little guy bottle, the train whistle, but didnt touch them, no shrimp tail flip, no onion stack volcano thing :( shouldve ordered in and stayed home so rushed and 1st time had so much food, was stuffed, brought some home! this time, very little veggies, not mixed up well, I got all squash, lady next to me all carrots, he got all broccoli etc. one group wanted to leave right away, so we were all given our bills, we were still eating so was couple next to us. was waiting for ice cream or sake choice, couple next to us left, we asked and waited. wouldve drank more but, brought his 2nd drink with the bill, and she didnt even bother asking me so I only had 1 glass of wine. its normally a fun experience, thats way dragged him there, was all quiet and awkward, tried talking to other couples, just got home gonna see what snacks, drinks we have around here. see if theres another place around here ..... boo

I must say, I wasnt expecting much coming from years of amazing sushi thanks to noble fish, and having lived in japan, I know good sushi. The purest will be iffy initially.. They dont really do traditional sushi. Theres the standard fair, but its just okay. They shine in crazy americanized uramaki rolls, some are quite unique and fresh. The volcano roll is really amazing, its rather simple but loads of flavor. The dressing you get with the hibachi salad is also just incredible. Im always treated well, the hibachi is a good show and over all the food is just oishii! The thing that sets them apart is the house special rolls. If you like trying unique sushi, you will do a lot worse than sakura. Im so glad to have found this place over here. I thought I would have to truck back to clawson every time I craved sushi. Definitely would recommend to my friends and it takes a lot for me to do so. Give it a try!

Quality sushi and hibachi. You can go cheap, especially if youre into vegetarian sushi rolls (e.g. $4ish for the avocado, asparagus, and cucumber roll) or you can buy some quite elaborate multi-fish rolls. I highly recommend the vegetable tempura as an appetizer (usually includes onion, potato, sweet potato, and sometimes broccoli or shrimp). The hot tea is good, and the servers are very attentive. Free wi-fi. Free ice cream on your birthday. There are two TVs in the sushi bar side of the restaurant, usually playing sports or news on mute. No TVs in the hibachi side. Wide variety of cocktails, with daily specials. Only a few beers on draft, unfortunately. Sakura is in the same strip mall as Target, so well often get dinner there before going shopping (this Target has a full grocery section).

I will be honest and say this is my favorite place to get sushi. I will also say I have but one food allergy - crab. I am very careful in ordering things without crab in them, but I do believe the cook must not have wiped his knife properly after working with crab and making my food as halfway through my meal I had an allergic reaction to my food. Additionally, the service was a bit slow due to business, however they did give us tea on the house to compensate. I usually have a great time but this time not so much.

The food is fantastic, and you do not leave hungry! The prices I feel are fair for the amount of food you get. From the wait staff, to the hibachi grill chef the food the perfect environment. The only minor complaint if you want to call it that, is that adults should be asked if they want to be seated with children (young) a baby crying throughout my meal or the loud obnoxious drunk man sort of ruined an evening, but other than that I will go back and continue to go back.

LOVE dinner for 2, Hibachi style. However. The chefs are not putting on the great shows anymore. That kills the whole experience, especially when you tell everyone how great it is, then go with friends and its a huge letdown. Im not certain why this changed. But they need to allow the chefs to make it special and memorable in a good way, again. Out of the last 7 times weve been, 6 chefs were mediocre at best. What happened here?

A great place for Sushi in the Kalamazoo area. I went here with a friend for dinner. The atmosphere was very nice, the waitress was very friendly, and the cost was fair. I got the Sushi Deluxe which was well worth the money. I did not care for the amount of dressing they put on the salad, and I am use to a vinagrette style dressing at Japanese places, theirs was creamy. A great place all together with fair pricing.

The gentleman (Steve) whom prepared the hibachi was most definitely talented. Wait staff was not to happy about their job!! Very expensive meal $3 up charge for fried rice, ask you want fried rice sweet rice but never mentions the up charge. Be prepared to pend A lot more money than you expect :) management is rude and disrespectful to yes

Have only been here twice, and both times were not excellent. The amount of food you get for the price is negligible and honestly the hibachi is show is either great or boring depending on who you have at the grill. All in all its a good place for a date but be prepared to pay a lot for the food.

Since moving to the west side of the state, Sakura 2 has been my "Go-To" sushi restaurant. The service is quick and always polite. The sushi is phenomenal and the hibachi is delicious. If youre looking for decently priced, well made sushi, hit up Sakura 2 before you try anywhere else.
