I would give this 0 stars if I could. Ive been to this restaurant a number of times as my parents and their friends have often heralded it as "the best Chinese restaurant in the area" but really its just the most hyped and most expensive. Most of the dishes you can find equivalences in other restaurants for significantly lower prices. The food itself isnt bad but is subpar as someone who has eaten a lot of Chinese food in their life both in the US and China I think its just ok. Most of the things on the menu have the same underlying tastes and are just super oily and thats why it tastes good. So the food is like a 2/5 being generous. Its not bad, but not really good. Service though, that deserves a -5/5. My family came here on Lunar new year, a day thats obviously busy. However we made a reservation at 8pm for a party of 7. Not only did we have to wait almost an hour, but we were repeatedly brushed off and given the side eye by the hostess when asking how much longer it would take. They kept saying that the people beforehand wouldnt leave and it would be "rude towards them to ask them to leave" but what about my family and me? If we hadnt had a reservation I would see no problem with waiting but if you are going to make people with reservations wait then you should just say you dont take them. What peeved me off even worse was that multiple parties that had later reservations than us were seated before us. Finally we were seated (never got a sorry from that hostess) but to make everything even better we were rushed out. The food came at uneven intervals making the dining experience very poor and when we asked about the COMPLIMENTARY pudding dessert the waitress pretended she didnt know what we were talking about in an attempt to get us to leave earlier. Im sorry you seated me so late that now its almost closing time and you want to go home. The manager, an acquaintance of my mother, apologized for half a second and said he wasnt prepared for the holiday and he knows better now. I will never go here again out of pride but also never again on lunar new year as this restaurant has been open for years and I guarantee he didnt learn better and they will still overbook their restaurant in years to come all for the sake of greed $$$$$$$$.

We have been trying out the Chinese restaurant in Detroit area since we moved here from California. It is hard to find too many chooses here anyway. Went for Peking Duck with my parents today after read these good reviews online. I have to say the Peking Duck worthy the price even though it is a little pricey. The wraps and the sauce that come with the duck were really small portion (in a small plate) compare to the meat served in the plate, you have to purchase extra cost $5 per portion on both which sounds really ridiculous. If you never had an authentic Peking Duck, you might think it is how this dish was served. However, I can tell you NO, it is not. Anyway, the thing that really disappointing us was their service. The young Chinese girl with a short hair at the service desk has a frozen, icing face, I even felt she was angry at us because we bothered her with our question(Do you guys have high chairs or boost seats?) The funny thing is we finally saw she smiled when she was welcoming white customers. The woman served us at table was fine, however, no smile at all as well, but at least we didnt feel the madness like we felt at the front. I understood it is not an easy job work at a long hours restaurant, and I also know that Chinese businesses usually dont treat their employees well. I dont know if that is the case they are not happy at work. The food is good if you ordered their special cuisines, but their service doesnt match their price.

UPDATED REVIEW! I Must Say, the staff here seems to have undergone a 160 degree reformation. We were warmly greeted at the door and refreshingly well treated our entire stay. In all fairness, I must upgrade my rating to a hearty four star! ........................................................................... The following is my initial 2 star rating: CUSTOMER SERVICE DOES MATTER! I am so very relieved to read the experiences other customers had with poor service. Please forgive me for using the "race card", but I truly thought it was because I am African-American that I was treated so poorly. I was convinced they simply did not want me (us) in their restaurant. Now that I realize the employees seem to treat EVERYONE that way, I actually feel a little better. From now on, however, I will stick with their carry out service only. The quality of the food is really good, but EVERY time I dine there, I am treated borderline awfully! I only returned because I was persuaded to give them the benefit of the doubt. Perhaps if enough people let them know of their dissatisfaction, they will get their act together!

The food with the best choice of daily fresh is the only Chinese restaurant I trust as I tried so many different ones all over in Michigan. I dont understand that why some people like to be picky on price to a fine dinning restaurant for a big quantity of dish. The Peking Duck is $50 in many other restaurant, which they even do not use the oven to roast it. Their price is very reasonable compare to many fine dining restaurants. The price for the rice and the wraps are all clearly marked on their menu. Those complaints are totally out of the topic. The one-star-review saying that Chinese restaurants always doesnt treat their staff good is ridiculous. How could you say that? Did you smile to the staff too? The main review point should be the foods quality. Those one-star comments are not fair to the skilled and hard-working chiefs. Thats the same as some passengers are always picky on very little things on the flight services but never thought about there are two excellent pilots taking care of the safety of their whole trip.

We recently dined here and overall the food was fairly good. Space is nice. Not excellent for all the hype. Complete disregard for the basic purpose of making a reservation. Disorganized management people waiting and service/kindness dispensed on people waiting. Owner is nice enough but extremely condescending. His favorite line is "you should call us next time!" to check on the wait. Yes,that is why one would make something called a reservation--which we did. Stay on top of your name on the waiting list to sit. It could disappear like ours did. Our consolation for waiting over an hour for service after our reservation time? "Ill pay for your pop!" and a fake apology. Gee, thank you, mister. Staff is not the most pleasant to deal with but not a negative experience with them. We all know where morale problems stem from--poor management.

FOOD - I am not sure why people rave about this place. I got the General Tsos chicken lunch special. It was okay, but was not much different than any other General Tsos chicken Ive had at a cheap Chinese Buffet. The ambiance of the restaurant is fancy, but the food is not spectacular. I was told by a friend that I must try the duck, though. SERVICE - Horrible! The service is what overall determined the fact that I will not be returning to the restaurant again. Our table was ignored throughout the dining experience. Our food entrees came out at all different times. It took forever to get our bill and boxes. We even stood next to the computers, so we could leave to return back to work on time. Fine dining? Dont be fooled by the servers outfits, this place lacks customer service values.
