Delicious ice cream, but horrible traffic flow. The ice cream here is delicious (I had the Chocolate Covered Pretzel with caramel swirl). Im no expert, but it just tastes fresh and really creamy the way ice cream should. However, Ive never walked into a food place and been so confused what the protocol is. They have the ice cream and register in the front when you walk in and most of the seats to the side and behind all that, so everyones stuck in the doorway waiting for stuff. I think they have long lines right now because people have heard the ice cream is great, but theyre out the door and around the block because theres not enough space to stand inside while you wait. Its just weird they didnt think of it. They also ran out of ice cream when they first opened, so Im guessing there just isnt good planning here.

From the moment you step in the door of Blank Slate, you are greeted with the sweet aroma of fresh waffle cones along with the smiling faces of employees and happy customers. The owners are constantly trying out new flavors but they are always sure to leave the classics at the same time. Some of my favorites are the Madagascar Vanilla, Pumpkin (Fall flavor), and cookies and cream. If youre feeling adventurous, you can try the Basil ice cream with a splash of olive oil on top (dont judge until youve tried this - its truly remarkable)! This is a great place to bring the whole family as they have chalk where kids (and adults might I add) can color at their tables! Ultimately, if youre looking for fantastic flavors unlike anything else youve had before, Blank Slate is the place to go!

Visited here for the first time. The variety of flavors is what drew me in (strawberry balsamic?? basil??). You can taste anything there, which is amazing! They have a really wonderful, above average selection of icecream flavors. My only disappointment was that, in my 3 scoops (3 DIFFERENT scoops), I felt underwhelmed by the texture and overall flavors. For lack of a better word, the ice cream felt more crystal-y and icey than the standard ice cream youd get at, say, Cold Stone or B&J. So, I wouldnt say that I walked out wanting another 3 scoops... but this seems to be a really popular place, and I admire the flavor selections. Its worth a try, because ice cream is STILL ice cream.

You cant go wrong at Blank Slate. Yes, on a summer night, the line looks purgatory, but it moves insanely fast. Quick service and delicious ice cream. The cones are fresh made right before your eyes. The ice cream tastes fresh, savory and natural. Not too sweet, not foamy but with a perfectly smooth and creamy consistency. Ive tried several flavors and have never been disappointed. Yep, you could find more options at other shops, but I think the flavors here are a bit of a step above. That being said, you may not find more traditional flavors (I didnt see a superman, moose tracks, etc) so if thats a deal breaker, be warned.

This is the best ice cream that Ive ever had bar none. The ingredients are all locally sourced from businesses around Michigan. What seems like it would be too simple is actually beyond delicious. The staff is super friendly. They offer you suggestions based on your taste preferences if you dont quite know what you have a taste for. The serving sizes are generous. And the quality of ice cream per dollar spent is tremendous. Flavors to fit all different tastes from the traditional to a little more avant garde. Ive the day is hot and youre in Ann Arbor this place is a must stop. Dont leave without grabbing some!

There’s nothing better than deliciously creamy, homemade ice cream on a hot summer day, and there’s no one better than Blank Slate to make that dream come true. Their menu is overflowing with original and inventive ice cream flavors – all made in-house with local ingredients. These creative flavors include: Salty Caramel Coffee made with coffee from Mighty Good right down the street, Fresh Basil drizzled with olive oil and lemon zest, and Blueberry Pancake which includes real pieces of pancake. Don’t be deterred by the long lines – this ice cream is worth the wait.

I finally went to the BS yesterday while running errands for my wife. I had read previous reviews about the mint ice cream which, in fact, I tried. Needless to say, it was quite possibly the finest ice cream Ive ever had. Of course, the two fine folks who were manning the counter suggested I try the basil ice cream which I graciously obliged. Again, another hit right off the bat! Ive already bragged and praised the Blank Slate on Facebook, so hopefully this will generate the gracious influx of customers the Blank Slate will surely become famous for!!

Its a very nice ice cream place with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. The line can be out-the-door long but I went on a Saturday afternoon and it wasnt crowded. I sampled the Salted Caramel Coffee, which tasted somehow...burnt? Instead, I got the Chocolate Covered Pretzel, which was good. Not the best Ive ever had; they offer a good variety of flavors from traditional to adventurous, but the texture is pretty mediocre. I wouldnt go out of my way to return, but still had a pleasant experience here.

By far and away the best ice cream Ive ever had. The staff is generally super friendly too, entertaining embarrassingly numerous requests for flavor samples (at some point, you have to try them all!) and always serving with a smile. The Creme de Menth is unlike any mint ice cream Ive ever had, and its definitely my favorite. Only negative is that ice cream from elsewhere really just doesnt satisfy anymore...

Great ice cream and friendly service. Oftentimes there is a wait but its always worth it. Flavors are creative and tasty. Some of my favorites are White Chocolate Raspberry Swirl, Loaded Banana, Basil, and Sweet Cream. The seating areas are cute too -- inside there are chalkboard tabletops to doodle on and outside are little tables and an (impossible to win, IMO) ring-on-a-string game.

Blank Slate has the best mint ice cream Ive ever had. The waffle cones they make in-house are also great. Unfortunately, the other flavors are so so. I honestly stopped trying them after getting the cinnamon, strawberry balsamic, and vanilla over different visits and they all tasted pretty similar - like plain, sweet cream. I do go back occasionally for that amazing mint, though!

Blank Slate has some seriously amazing ice cream! They have a huge selection of flavors and each one is so creative that its tough to choose just one! After tasting a few, I decided on the bittersweet chocolate and it was so rich and creamy, I could barely finish a small! I would recommend this place to anyone looking for something out of the box and full of flavor!

Blank Slate provides some GREAT tasting ice cream, with some very original flavors. We had a friend in from out of town and took him there. He loved it! We loved it too since it was our first time visiting! We got there just in time too since after we got our ice cream, the line was out the door! ( I think this is a usual thing for them, being so good)

The place was packed on Saturday night but the line moved quickly. The staff were friendly. You can ask for samples before picking. Lots of choices. Fresh made cones. Im only giving them a 4 star because I got the chocolate caramel pretzel and there was hardly any pretzels in it. It tasted good but it was mostly vanilla ice cream. It was disappointing.
