The baristas are usually friendly and there is free Wi-Fi along with plenty of outlets. The one reason I still come here is the hours: its open quite late given were in Worcester. If you go out for coffee once and awhile, its OK. If you are the kind of person that likes to get work done out of the house, I would suggest not going here. There are too many negatives: (1) The coffee shops thermostat is kept too low, making it a very cold place. I am not sure if this is done on purpose to encourage customers to buy more hot drinks. (2) The seating is not comfortable. Most of the chairs are made of hardwood. The floor is tilted, meaning the chairs and tables tilt and shake with just a little bit of pressure. (3) The space is a bit crammed and offers little privacy. (4) Because of its street location, occasionally beggars and hobos will come in the store asking customers for money or to use their phone. (5) If you drive, parking spots within walking distance are very difficult to find. (6) Very busy area, dont expect a quaint little coffee shop hidden away in the city. (7) The prices are a bit too high, especially for things like bagels (around $4 each!). (8) The tables are usually dirty because there is usually only 1 person working at a time. Customers dont give their dishes to the barista even though it explicitly says to do so, so they leave them on tables. My advice: avoid this place if you can.

Im visiting Worcester from out of town and instead of going to the local market or Walmart to satisfy my sweet tooth I decided to seek the aid of yelp, google and my friend (whos a local).. The Bean Counter on Highland won and I ventured out to the shop.. The location is pretty convenient to get to and the shop isnt was really cute. The staff there however didnt seem to care that there was a customer there.. I got a dirty look for even walking in and disturbing their conversation. I chose a basic vanilla cupcake and a chocolate and I was pretty excited to sink my teeth into them. Sadly they were VERY dry and lacked flavor, the frosting was quite greasy and lacked flavor as well. There was a sour after taste in the frosting that overpowered the overall cupcake. I DO NOT suggest this local shop.

Terrible coffee, possibly left out or just a bad brew? Fancy pastries look absolutely amazing! Had a sad excuse for a whoopie pie one time. Got a beautiful chocolate cupcake that would have tasted good the day it was made but sadly after maybe 4-6 days after sitting in the display case tasted very stale and dry. Was going to go back to try maybe a bagel till a friend told me how they keep out of old ones as well soooo..... Id suggest to go for the coffee but be cautious around the food. Obviously not the cleanest or friendliest place in the world. Also be very careful around the owner, she apparently has a huge issue with her mouth and not being very nice :/

Wow and Yum! Our wedding cake was absolutely incredible; delicious and beautiful. We met with the baker at our tasting and were given ample time to look through their photo book of cakes to firm our decision on design. After tasting several different varieties, it was only hard to decide which to choose because they were all so good. The baker answered all our questions, took excellent notes on our instructions, and delivered exactly the product we asked for. All three layers were moist and baked to perfection. Even the leftovers were excellent a few days after and also out of the freezer a week later.

Ive been there twice and found it to be overpriced. The atmosphere is cramped (definitely not cozy) there were no clean tables, not to mention most tables didnt have chairs. The staff was disinterested. On the first occasion I went there as soon as we sat down the staff started talking to their friends. They are cash and check only which is a minus. One of our drinks was only 3/4 full, the other was sickly sweet. Bakery items were okay, nothing to brag about. A much better place for coffee would be NU Cafe on Chandler or Starbucks. If you want desserts go to Wholly Cannoli or somewhere else.

Terrible customer service!! Called them twice to be told to call back they were too busy to take my order and to call their Shrewsbury location - which I had and no one ever picked up. I called back today and wanted to place the order and again was told to call the other location and they were unable to take my order at this location. I told him I was going somewhere else for their lack of customer service and he didnt seem to care. Going to Gerardos once again - they happily took my order no problem despite how busy they are.

The desserts here are to die for. Mostly Vegan!! Every few weeks I stop in and pick up a 1/2 dozen cup cakes and bring them info my office. OH so good. BUT! My boyfriend and I have come in for breakfast munchies one morning and and was a little disappointed. The egg and meat samy we ordered looks great but the bagel was a little old, super hard to eat and chew. The coffee was very different. Authentic I guess?. But I am a Starbucks person. I love the organic. Dessert a Yes, other choices I would skip.

This place has the most WONDERFUL gluten free bakery for those of us unable to process gluten or wheat. My daughter and I both come here, she has come here for the past three years, shes in college, she gets the same BEAUTIFUL AND DELICIOUS called and desserts as her non-gf friends. Ive even ordered her cake for her birthday so that her friends can help her celebrate with cake and candles!!! The staff are so accommodating, happy, awesome ... This is a WONDERFUL place to be!!!

The purple cow and white lightning coffee drinks are fantastic! Had the cinnamon twist pastry and it was also great. Finally, got the egg and cheese sandwich. I enjoyed it all. Ive only been here a few times so far. But I have found the staff to be very friendly, the room at the perfect temperature, the atmosphere quiet and clean, and the prices no different from a Starbucks. Try it out for yourself before listening to a few bad reviews.

Food and coffee is great. The sweets are very rich. The prices are definitely a little high, especially for Worcester. The main reason this is 3 stars is the service. The people who work there seem like they dont want to be there and act as if you taking your order is bothering them. It is consistent enough across the various employees that I have seen for it to be significantly concerning.

Recently moved to Worcester. I am searching for the best coffee place in town. Coffee is good 7/10, probably one of the better ones (I have been to the Nu cafe and Birch tree). The bakery goods here arent up to par compared to Birch Tree. I come here mostly to study and the atmosphere is ok. Staffs are not very friendly .

We love their cakes (vegan ones too!) and the lattes are incredible. Try the hazel swirl latte (iced!) The wedding cakes are unique and so beautiful! I know this because I am in the wedding industry and see so many of The Bean Counter cakes at weddings all over Massachusetts and am always impressed!!
