China Moon is an anachronism with the same decor and furnishings probably from the 70s if not earlier. Their style of food, drinks and serving ware hasnt changed much adhering to the old Polynesian theme so popular back in the 70s and 80s. You can order your Pu-Pu platter, Chop Suey, Egg Foo Young, Scorpion Bowls all served in your traditional wooden platter, stainless steel dishes and Hawaiian style bowls. As much of a place out of time China Moon may be, the staff and owners are always friendly and efficient. The food for the most part is decent with consistency wavering here and there. They have good hours and have been at the same location for eons. It is a good place to go to when you just want some good ol fashion americanized chinese food.

I have never before taken the time to write one of these reviews, but I am compelled to save others from having the sort in inedible meal my husband and I had this evening at China Moon. From the soft french bread and substitute butter spread to the soup that tasted and had the consistency of cardboard soaked overnight in tepid water, these was the worst Chinese food I have ever had. We live in Medford and the idea of a neighborhood restaurant was very appealing to us. The food, however, was so bad we simply left it on the plate. There was no redeeming aspect of this evenings horrible food. If you want great Chinese food, head over to the China Pearl in Woburn. From now on, we will certainly drive the extra ten minutes!

Let me tell you, this Chinese food is the best Ive ever had!!! I renovated the restaurant recently. Yes, im Mike Lozzi from LJR Carpentry, Ive witnessed first hand in the kitchen the labor involved in making home made crab ragoons, that steak on a stick called steak Teriyaki, all the ribs and pork, prepared raw and cooked perfectly, this kitchen is a display of the most proper methods of authentic Chinese cuisine execution. Nothing beats the China Moon. PERIOD. Food from an honorable and respectful family Like theirs is a diamond in the rough!!!!!5/5 ALL DAY!!!!!!

The service was good and they were pretty kind. The food came in less than 5 minutes which makes me think it was either frozen and heated up or, already sitting in the kitchen waiting for a customer to order that item. When I got the food , it confirmed my suspicions. I ordered sesame chicken. I was starving so I ate a few pieces even though some were so hard they were inedible. Broccoli was overcooked and the white rice was bland. Wouldnt recommend this place and definitely wont be going back. OH I FORGOT, the smell was TERRIBLEEEEEE.

The smallest Chinese buffet seen in all my life, and food looked disgusting and it didnt taste any better either. Dry, sticky, and not tasty at all...stuff was either fried too long, or really gooey and just plain yucky! Never again will I give it another try... They would have to change EVERYTHING! Its amazing how in the world theyre still in business...perhaps because of people like me that just walked in without knowing anything about them or the food quality, and then was to shy to walk out...lol...

The egg drop soup was very weak in flavor and the main dish was at best mediocre. As a visitor to the area I will be looking for somewhere else to eat Chinese food on my next trip. I should also mention the decor, it is extremely dated and the place has a musty smell.

My parents have been married for over 40 years and have been going to the China Moon longer than that. It is great food and the staff is so kind. The decor is dated, but Im not there for the atmosphere, I was my fried rice, pu-pu platter, and lo mein!! So yummy!

If you are looking for an authentic meal that is going to make you take the biggest bathroom trip of your life. Then come to this place and get some of the worst food you have ever tasted. DO NOT COME HERE. The people who say it is good must have been paid.

they might not have upgraded their interior since opening, but they have upgraded their food. they have great service and a great dinner buffet. theyre running a buy one get one free special for it so it is a great deal.

Not too crowded on a Saturday night which gave me pause. Buffet was 13.95 and good but not great. Nice strong scorpion bowl and buffet for 2 was 52.00 including tip.
