I was excited about going to try something new because I heard about this place on the radio. So I asked my friend to join me in having a late dinner. We arrived at Azuma about 8:50, and they closed at 930. So I thought to myself okay, we have a little time to get something to eat and get out. As we entered we waited at the door for 10 mins and finally someone greeted us and asked if we was eating in. After replying yes with a smile, she took the menus and said "well here you have to order super fast because we are closed. I forgot to lock the doors so your the last customer." She sat us down and walked away. I thought to myself. It was only 9 clock. You guys are open til 930 but okay. So the waitress was very nice got our drinks super fast and we ordered our food and I also ordered some take out for my boyfriend so he had something to eat at home. We got our sushi to start off with, it was mediocre nothing to jump up and down for. Tasted something like I would get at stop and shop. Then our entree came out 5 mins later. I took 2 bites of my food and it was was cold, quite disgusting. Everything tasted like it came out of a packaged and just tasted like soy sauce. Absolutely disgusted. I pushed the plate away, and went to the front to talk to the same lady that sat us. I asked "can you tell my waitress I dont want my take out order" She looked at me and said we already made it so no. You have to take it" so rudely. I walked away and sat their in disbelief because, mind you I also work in a restaurant and if a customer dont want it then they dont have to pay for it. So the waitress asked if everything was okay, I told her the truth that it was disgusting, something I wouldnt even feed my dog because it was just that terrible, I feel as though I shouldnt pay for it especially if I only took a bite of my food. She asked if I wanted to see my manger, I said sure. The same lady who sat us and I spoke to about my take out order came up to me and said" I told you that it was all you can eat, we already made the food so you have to pay" Like no, that is not how you get customers to come back to your restaurant. I was in serious disbelief that she was so rude and refused to do anything about the bill. She seen the plate of food on our table and it was literally a full plate. I was getting very annoyed and very close to cussing her out so i said give me the bill and just get out of my face. Payed and left. In the few years of working at a restaurant the number one rule I learned is "Never argue with a customer, and make them as happy as possible" Never am I going back and I hope that place burns down to the ground because I have never had such horrible service before. Terrible, I wish there was a negative 5 star button because I would click it.

At first the atmosphere seems pleasant, however my first experience there was the complete opposite. I had gone with a group of about 6 and this included two children. The first thing that happened was the waitress smashed a glass right next to my friends little daughter and they didnt even wipe up her chair afterwards. Also, glass could have gone into her daughters eyes or worse. The second thing that happened was all I wanted for a meal was literally chicken nuggets and fries off the kids menu which of course they would not accomodate and wanted me to pay 21$ for four nuggets that is actually free with all you can eat because it is somewhat of a buffet. What really infuriated me is the fact that the staff and manager were intently stalking me by making sure I wasnt given any food from anyone else so that was highly uncomfortable. I ended up taking what I wanted regardless because they really have no right to tell anybody who orders food where to put it so my friends got it and gave it to me. Next wonderful surprise was that one friend at our table found hair in her food and the manager would do nothing but give her either 3$-4$ off the meal or a free drink which obviously she didnt want. Another friend got very sick and was on the bathroom floor vomiting. At the end of all of this the management and staff were insulting my friends by trying to add on extra onto the bill, and to my sick friend these people had the audacity to call her a liar, to do everything possible to tell her how she was making it up! What god awful management I mean really. The first incident would have made any other manager anywhere comp the meals because he or she would want return business for wonderful customer service, however this place did everything they could to make the opposite happen and on top of this they were sneaky with trying to add on extra onto the tab! Theres more but I just cant even talk about this waste of space any longer. Disgusting first visit , will NEVER be returning.

We used to go to Azuma almost weekly, back when the menu included Chinese, Japanese, and Malaysian dishes. We stopped going while back when they (presumably under new management) got rid of the sushi. Recently, they started serving sushi again (indeed, their menu implies theres not much else besides the hibachi tables). So we wanted to check it out. There was no one at the front entrance to seat us when we entered (around 8pm on a Thursday night). There were two hibachi tables in use, and 4-5 people at the bar. There was no one in the dining section. There were 4 waitstaff, a sushi chef, and a bartender within sight of us, all of whom we were able to make brief eye contact with, and none of whom, over the following ten minutes (thats an objective 10 minutes by the clock, which seems a much longer time waiting with a toddler in tow), lifted a finger to seat us, greet us, apologize and let us know that someone would help us in a moment, or even acknowledge our existence. These people were not busy; a few of them were casually cleaning things or serving a drink, but mostly they were chatting with each other and the customers at the bar. My wife finally went over to the counter and asked whether we should seat ourselves. She was answered with no apology from anyone, questions from one of the waitstaff about whether we were with a party ("no, were here to eat dinner") and no answer, and, eventually, a brusque response from the bartender that hed be with us "in a few." As it turns out, he wasnt, because after a couple of minutes more, we left, depriving Azuma of a $40+ and us of a meal of unknown quality and terrible, terrible service. I wish theyd change their name so that I dont associate the bad restaurant of today with the truly superlative restaurant of a couple of years ago.

1st time visitor with my wife and sister. Nice atmosphere with hibachi on one side and dining the other. Do to long wait for hibach (Friday night) we chose dinner on other side. The waiter was curtious but had limited knowledge of menu and wines. After a couple of questions about entree choices he had to get the manager or owner (he did not identify himself) but explained what the entrees contained. Entrees were coconut shrimp, a seafood noodle basket and a sizzling steak entree. The meals came and all was well except for the steak which was not sizzling but came on a regular plate. When we asked the waiter about this he had to get the mgr again. The steak was returned and came back on the platter that was cold. When the manager was asked about this he stated he could remake it or take 6 dollars off meal. (70.00 bill). The restaurant is nice and food is good. Service would have given this a five star rating but maybe time will tell.
