Im a NH seacoast resident previously living in the NYC area and Im so glad we found this sushi restaurant. We go out of our way to come here when we crave Japanese food as the sushi is super fresh and delicious. The owners and management are Japanese and the preparation of the food is authentic. Its obvious they have been making sushi for a long time. Although the decorum isnt appealing and its in a strip mall, dont let that dissuade you from having a wonderful meal. Cant disagree with the bathroom comment as it should be renovated but every meal Ive had there has been way above par.

Absolutely amazing! My boyfriend and I come here at least once a month, lately its turned into almost weekly. We try not to go so often because every time we do, we cant help ourselves and order a lot (and spend a lot). I usually get a bento box, he switches it up, but we always always always have to get a peter roll and the sweet egg. Sometimes more! It only costs us so much because we order a ton. Very reasonably priced and a generous helping for what you pay, we just have no self control! A lovely atmosphere and kind staff. Hana has 2 very happy regulars!!!

I knew I was in for a bad experience when the microwave bell went off and the Shumai and Gyoza was brought to our table shortly after. On top of microwaved appetizers a large wirey hair was the perfect garnish to the "spicy crunchy salmon roll". I usually dont with reviews but this is was just awful. Im not surprised the restaurant was empty.

I have lived in Japan for over 18 years, and the chef of this restaurant is excellent. He has worked with master chefs in Japan and California. The sushi is impeccable and of the highest quality, it is truly a suprise to find such a wonderful restaurant in a small town. You will not be disappointed with any item on the menu.

Great food, great atmosphere and and really good prices. Supporting family owned businesses instead of chains is important to me so I enjoy having Hana Japan as an option. Their chefs are very skilled and their waitstaff attentive. Whenever I crave sushi or ramen I come here.

I never knew this location was here. We had some shoyu ramen and various nigiri. My partnered really liked the eel and scallop (chefs choice). The atmosphere was quiet and inviting, the staff very attentive and welcoming. Well definitely come again when were in the area.

Hana Japan in Newburyport was the best ever Japanese restaurant I have ever been to. Service was great, the food was to die for. Great environment and for every one and great value for money too. If your ever going to go to a restaurant. Hana Japan is where to be =D

First timer at Hana... Needed to use restroom before ordering anything and was glad I did. The bathroom was absolutely disguistingly filthy. Immediately left. Bathroom (and kitchen) should be impeccable at any restaurant, but especially a sushi restaurant.
