I hate that I have to give this place a 1 star experience. Especially since I love Alma and the show, but we had made reservations the day before we arrived in Hingham, with every intention of dining there that night! Our plan was to go to Wahlburgers for lunch and then Alma Nove for Dinner, but we arrived at Wahlburgers later than planned. So we decided that we would keep our reservation at Alma Nove and have desert. I mean, we did drive all the way from Ohio and wanted to try both restaurants since this wouldnt be a typical dining for us. Our drive was 12 hours+. We arrived early for our reservation and noticed how fancy everything was, it was really beautiful! The lady at the front said we didnt have to dress fancy to eat there when I made that statement that I wasnt dressed real fancy. I laughed and said good! Therefore it started off great! We were seated and then a few moments later a gentleman came to our table to ask what we would like to drink. We werent sure what we wanted so the gentleman brought us water! When I asked for the desert menu, the Waiter "assumed" I made reservations just for desert and I can assure you, that wasnt the case!!! He said that had they had known we were just having desert, they probably would have sat us at the bar or outside if the weather was nice enough! He brought us the menus and walked past our table 4-5 times and COMPLETELY ignored us. We probably waited for 10-15 minutes before just walking out. It was like we were not even there!!! Then on our way out, my friend offered to pay for the water and they said that she didnt have to. The manager even offered to pay for dinner and desert and even said something about us coming back. I told her that we were from Ohio, we werent coming back. I also told them, to reassure them of their assumptions, that we had every intention to have dinner there and we made reservations for dinner but our plans got changed! Again - I hate leaving this place as a 1 star and I really dont think Alma would appreciate the restaurant being handled in that manner!!! At least I would hope not!!!

Started with mussels and a salad. The flavors in the mussels were good but the broth was so heavily salted that I thought I was drinking sea water. I was able to eat the mussels, but could not use or finish the sauce. The salad was average, lacking flavor, definitely not enough olive oil, but thankfully not overly salted. Main dish was chicken and spaetzle. The chicken was cooked well and the mashed potatoes were good, but the accompanying sauce was overly seasoned and tasted like someone poured liquid smoke into it. The sauce was inedible. The flavors on the spaetzle and lamb were excellent, this would have easily been their star dish for the night if it werent for the salt again. I could only get through about half of the dish before passing off to my partner due to the sheer volume of salt in this thing. If they could control the salt, this dish alone would be worth going back to have again. Dessert was also a bust with a piss poor attempt at panna cotta. Instead of panna cotta we received poorly flavored jello. Panna cotta is insanely easy to make, so Im not sure how they overdid the gelatin. Regardless, it was harder than even most normal jellos and completely lacked any of the texture, smoothness or creaminess of real panna cotta. Although this represents "finer dining" for the area, unfortunately they were either not tasting their own dishes or simply cant taste them. While the rather large older crowd might appreciate this or not notice, I couldnt look past this. Typically I am a proponent of liberal salt usage, but this tasted more like an accident where the lid falls off while cooking. If they could deal with the seasoning issue the experience would be much improved. While I cant recommend their food, many might find a good time having a drink and appetizers out on the patio during the summer months.

the moment i arrived i knew it was the type of place to gouge customers--the parking spots directly in front of the door were all empty, but were valet only--there was no one in sight, but they would not let you park on the street without paying! luckily there was plenty of parking a 30 second walk away. the food was just "pretty good", not very good. the portions were ridiculously small. the bread was cut into 1 inch cubes--truly bit sized and just a few pieces for the table. the entrees were very small and not at all worth the price. it was not the gourmet delicious food you would expect. the scallop entree had a tiny bit of risotto, 3 scallops and nothing else. the other entrees looked pretty good but not great. we love great food and eat out all the time but this was nothing wonderful and must be making it with the crowd that wants to be known for overspending. now you know what you are not missing!

Upon reaching the restaurant last night very impressed with ambiance. Seated as per reservation. Waiter, not very friendly no personality but everyone has there own style. Ordered appetizers very tasty. Entrees good but very limited selection. Ordered bottle of wine and requested more but we had seemly been forgotten. Finally got waiters attention to find out what happened and he did apologize and make up for it. For me to give a restaurant a 5 the waiter should be a big part of the total experience. Food good, ambiance excellent, service needs improvement. At most fine restaurants someone in management comes to make sure everything is okay. I just returned to Mass and have traveled and experienced fine dinning throughout my life. I recommend Alma Nove and hope you have better experience. The service did not meet my expectation of a restaurant in this caliber. I give this restaurant a 4.

We had our 39th anniversary dinner Saturday night at Alma Nove, and it was such a wonderful meal. Calamari was great, husband loved his oysters. I had the evening filet special with lobster mashed potatos. Yes, I said lobster mashed potatos, yummi! Ended my meal with the apple pie. It was not your usual piece of apple pie. It was like a mini round apple pie with the crunchiest topping with excellent home made vanilla ice cream. I would absolute encourage everyone to try Alma Nove. They surpisingly have valet parking which was such a plus. Reservation are a must on a Saturday night. Luckily we were able to request and get a booth. Our waitress was so pleasant and upbeat. As a matter of fact, restaurant gifted us one of the deserts because it was our anniversary. Had a good evening. Will be coming back for sure.

Our family and friends decided to chose Alma Nove to have a dinner party for our parents 50th wedding anniversary. The hostess was very inviting and promptly seated our party. The wait staff was very attentive and got the drinks flowing immediately. They moved us on to the appetizer menu and spread them out along our very large group of tables, after they delivered the apps they took the dinner orders. We had a very steady stream of food through out the entire stay. The dinner was suburb, everybody had a smorgasbord of everything on the menu, we have a very large family thirty people in all. The service was fantastic and the food was to die for. I would highly recommend Alma Nove for any meal of the day. I wish I lived a little closer I would become a regular. Thank you for the wonderful experience.
