okay ive been to kanpai LOTS of times, and i love it each and every time. But i just got back from one very bad trip. it wasnt because of the food, no not at all. it was awesome! but the wait staff left something to be desired....alot to be desired actually. first off the uniform, if im gonna be paying 10-40 per person i expect a fairly formal uniform needed. and i could tell they had some type of uniform going on, the standard black, but the girl was wearing a pink zip up trashy sweater....nice. i was the only customer in the restauraunt when i got there and it took a good 20+ minutes to get me meal sent out to me. i had green tea to drink and i had to LOOK and ASK for the waiter to refill my pot. To me thats simply unnaceptable. i even left the pot at the edge of the table as a slight "hint"...nothing. when the meal came it was divine, not a thing wrong with it. it took another 10+ minutes to get my plate cleared and asked for desert, and that was after i was finished, not once did she ask if anything was satisfactory either during my meal, which is just polite if anything at a restaurant. anyways it was also a long wait for my desert, which was a REALLY simple dish as well (thats not really an opinion i can make it as well). im not accusing the kitchen of anything, i just have my firm belief it was the waitstaff to blame. so i finished my desert and the girl gave me the check "offered" to refill my pot (FINALLY) and she was off again...never to be seen. no literally i mean it. she just didnt come back. i waited and waited and waited till finally i said screw it and just asked for someone to help me. with a meager tip left and a tummy full i left......i never did get that last pot of tea

I have been eating Sushi for at least 25 years now. I have eaten it in several states, several price points and restaurant styles. Overwhelmingly, and especially in Salisbury, this Sushi restaurant is definitely top notch. It is fresh, portions are consistent and the owner is true to his craft. My only dissapointment is that the servers do not seem to realize how their failure to acknowledge guests when they are standing and being social is a true disrespect to the customer. You may not be able to serve or seat me right then and there, but acknowledging my presence is just the right thing to do. Great sushi though, enough to ignore this flaw of customer service. We will certainly be back and have been despite this observation

I went here for a meal after work. I waited 10 minutes to get a menu with only 4 other tables occupied in the restaurant. I ordered a tuna roll, fish roe sushi, and miso soup. I left after waiting about 45 minutes. I had gotten the miso soup and 4 refills on my drink. They offered to give me my food to go. After agreeing, they gave me the fish roe sushi 2 piece (was on menu as 3 pieces) and that was it. They made no mention of the tuna roll. They charged me full price for this... The miso was good. The sushi was ridiculous as it was short a piece and the quail egg on top had a broken yolk. The tuna roll was, well, it wasnt. Dont waste your time.

I lived in baltimore and have travel all over north carolina and virginia and now work in DC. Kanpais owner and head guy Katsumi, still makes the best rolls Ive ever eaten even compared to the diversity of dc metro place this is the best. I cant say enough good things about it. Im still paying off meals I ate there as a college kid. As a graduation gift me and a buddy were gifted our own roll. TRY THE STEVE AND KEITH ROLL!!!!! KATSUMI IS A ROCKSTAR.

We had the volcano roll and the ribeye Bento box with crab cakes and flounder. For appetizers we had the wasabi pork dumplings that were delicious but not on the menu. 5 star food and presentation but service could improve..Overall a great experience and I will be back! If you are looking for a half price dinner special go someplace else... here you get quality and it isnt cheap but well worth the money.

This is my favorite Sushi place in Salisbury. I love the Tempura Green Beans, Octopus Salad, and bento boxes. My favorite roll is the Top Hat and I usually look at what they are offering for specials. Their Salmon Sashimi is wonderful. On Tuesdays many rolls are discounted for dine in only.

My husband introduced me to this restaurant and I have to admit that the traditional Japanese cuisine is beyond amazing. Kumi-sans recipes are the most finely crafted dishes and the sushi is the best in the area according to my husband. This easily gets five stars.

Excellent sushi everytime but beware if you go for lunch... they claim to be open til 2:00 but they really want to close and be outta there by 2:00! The immature wrath of the servers attitude make that very clear. Its really a shame because the sushi is awesome!

You cant go wrong eating at KanPai. The sushi is THE best I have ever had, and I have had sushi all over the country. I also love that its not pretentious or overdone there. The food speaks for itself. I love it.

I am mostly a sushi eater, sashimi sometimes. This place has the sushi game locked down. Not to mention the sake and drink list. If you like sushi and live in Salisbury, i dont know why you havent been here.

This is the best sushi place i have been to aside from in Hawaii really recommend it over east moon, lucky star, ikebana, aka any place i can think in salisbury!!!!! GO THERE!!!
